a gambit is not a set or fixed thing. it is a situation based trap for your opponent to fall in. you must have multiple gambits and attacks up your sleeve ready for any scenario. and if the opponent does not fall for it, it is up to your skill and experience tow in.

@@kyen2390 no I didn't have a blindfold on but I'm sure I would have been able to see it anyway. It's visualising the board in your head instead of right in front of you, which makes it similar, just more difficult to concentrate

Hikaru wants to go his own way, making up an entirely new opening every time as soon as he can

Hey Hikaru, you should check out 'Thinking fast and slow' by Daniel Kahneman (Nobel prize winner for behavioural economics). He explains very nicely as to why we can't do multitasking when we are engaged in somewhat complex or engaging tasks..like driving and visualizing chess simultaneously. Great book on making better decisions. Highly recommended. P.S. I'm a big fan of yours and love the content, especially made by you & Levy together.
Stuff like this shows how much skill just comes from reps. Just reps. Talent has to be there to get to IM or GM level, clearly, but all that talent won't do anything without like tens of thousands of games of practice.
I used to run pieces for a guy when I was a kid that would play one of his friends while he was in the other room. He would tell me the moves and I would relay the other moves to the guy. Not being able to calculate things while driving is a known human limitation, you should look it up, it's actually pretty interesting and strange.
I like how Hikaru still looks up or to the side to calculate even if his blindfolded..
