thanks for this one. Please note that in Icelandic, please use the given name. They don't have surnames up there, only patronomic (or sometimes matronomic) names and calling people by their patronomic name is considered an insult ;)
Well, an insult, i don´t know. We use our first names in Iceland. But internationally, f.ex. the national team in football, they use their "family" name or patronymic name on the shirts. When we talk about Jóhann Hjartarson, we talk about Jóhann, sometimes we say the whole name, so we know, which Jóhann we´re talking about, but an icelander talking about Hjartarson in icelandic, that sounds odd ...

Antonio kf8 was no only option there but kh7, after that white would promote queen by killing rook but black had unstoppable checks so it was draw still even if white would play qf7
Before watching the match my analysis If the chance for white then white Queen to be move from f5 to e5, then mate is inevitable for black king. And if chance is for black then it doesn't matter any of his move then too 😊😎 I think
A truly fascinating game; a winning position, but not acted on, it melted away within a few moves never to be regained. A haunting game for the Icelandic GM.
Hey agad I was wondering if you would consider starting new special series, where you sarcastically analyse low elo games from your subscribers . Let's say once per week a normal video like all the others but from your subscribers. Would really add some funny content even thought this is not your kind of thing.
Rxg7+ also works. If King does not accept the rook: Kh8, Ng6+, Kxg7, Qf7#. If King accepts the rook, there will always be a way to eventually force the King to h8 with the queen and then checkmate with the help of the knight to g6. First you must gobble up the pawn on h6 and knight on g5 with the queen with check, then check the king around until he's on h8
Why not Qg6 threatening Qxg7++ ? Black's best response may be Nxe6, but then QxRe8+. After Kh7, NxNe6, and there is no way to stop Rxg7++ except by throwing away Black's last piece - the Queen. And, then, checkmate is inevitable.
What about.. Qg6 - Nf3+ ? White can't play Kg2 or Kh1, because of Ne5+ (by Queen on c6) with win and if Kf1 then Nh2+ with draw as Ke1 is answered with QxR (White can't take on d7 as e pawn is King is on the e-file as the black rook) so white has to move back to g1..
I really like how these Icelandic GMs really fight to the bitter end. Its really impressive in my opinion
