I don't know him, but given his comments from the video, he instructs from that site, and flies it regularly. (That launch was definitely designed for gliders) Given the slope of the hill and direction of the power lines (going down the slope), he can make his way down the hill to safely cross in a location where he has adequate speed/altitude.. the fact that he flew so close to them suggests he felt he had plenty of speed to maintain control and ensure clearance of the lines. Before flying a route, a responsible pilot will generally (always) check the route for emergency landing sites and hazards.. power lines being a big part of what a pilot's looking for, as they tend to shorten many ideal landing sites, and as you saw from the speed the gliders landed at, it takes a good sized field to allow a novice to safely land.

I love living beside the Atlantic Ocean but Dang that is a beautiful area. Imagine living that high in gorgeous mountains still close to water. Wow.

I've always dreamed of learning to hang glide someday, but I live in what feels like the flattest state in America.... Indiana. That video was amazing. What an incredible ride!
Simple answer....................MOVE! :-)
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv I wish! Lol
@@KellyMahler Then take a vacation out west to the mountains and get someone to take you up. South Florida is also too flat.Good luck.
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv @Kelly M
Actually flatlands thermal flying is great. Florida is the main location for springtime competition hanggliding in the USA. We get towed up behind a truck or an airplane. According to USHPA there are 3 HG instructors in Indiana: www.ushpa.org/page/instructor-search
From 3:11 and so on when he gliding close to the ground looks like hes in VR
It would actually be really cool if they rigged the glider FOR VR capture, wouldn't it? :-)
Nutz! Brilliant flying- I have only had 45 years of hang-gliding
nice green screen, buddy!
Haha wtf are u blind how is this Green Screen hater
I can't tell if you're joking but this is real
Hahahahhaha
@@pouyasheykhghasemi2724 On YT you NEVER know if 'joking', just go visit a few flat Earth videos and you will understand that I am dead on. If you go look at some of say, Tucker Got's PPG videos, where he go pros from his foot, it really DOES look green screened, it's downright weird how much, actually, and it isn't. This video here, doesn't look screened, at all. I think The Dro's was a joke here, though.
Nice flight bud! Blue skys to you.
4:00 cool move
Great fly, well done!
I hope in the future to try this flight
Man, your Vario is making weird noises, starting at 1:50. :-D
Lol
Absolutely incredible, bravo.
