@@nicholasplesko533 They are not. You can find used beginner gliders for less than an iphone. And although 5-10k for a new one seems like a lot, they can last several decades if well maintained. I own a wing made in 1992 still going strong. My main wing is from 2013.

So you are constantly keeping an eye on the terrain for that. That keeps you familiar with where you were and where you are heading. Also almost everyone flies with a flight computer that tracks your position, altitude, speed, direction etc. Most even have a map like a navigator for your car. You can even plan a flight path that way.

Iam a trike soaring pilot now because of my ageing knees but flying hg wings scince 1978 i can say that this is such an awesome sport. Last week i had a hugh golden eagle fly over the top of my sail and park right over my wingtip checking my feathers out . I was listning to the eagle and the hawk at the time. Just dont want to come down and land. Great video wild launch. Thx

This is utterly amazing. I wish you had some way of displaying some data like ground speed, air speed, vertical speed, altitude etc... What speed to you peak out at on these runs? I'm going to guess about 140-160km/hr? Also, how many hours of experience would it take someone to develop the skills to do a similar run without getting in over their head? This is my favorite corner of the world by the way, spend two summers there. Thanks for the great video.

Halte eigentlich nichts von Höhe wegheizen - aber wenn die Kiste so gut gleitet, dass man kaum Höhe verliert :-) Tja die Landung mit Strasse, Auto und Zäunen hätte ins Auge gehen können und auch mit den leichten Turnschuhen seinen Drachen im Hochalpinen Gelände zum Start tragen ist nicht die schlauste Idee - save flights!

That was a great video! I have one small request--can you do the whole thing again but with FPV view? It's hard to watch 10 minutes of flying backwards--and, the view gets blocked by the Delta-wing. 😉

There's plenty of telemetry programs you can run from a simple phone that will show all that, complete with 3d recording of flight path.
