The first time I met her backstage, I was slightly disappointed. Why? Because she seemed like my Aunt Beverly, not one of the great divas of the opera world!
@@wotan10950 Isn't this part of the magic of being a good actor/actress? Someone who, in real life, looks like your neighbour next door, yet he/she can turn onstage into someone altogether different and display an outstanding personality. Being good at that doesn't turn them into divas offstage, and it's not good to be a diva offstage these days, audiences appreciate more those who humbly take the praise and never take their work recognition for granted.
Could you please post the scene where Norina teases Pasquale in Act Three? I remember it was up a few years ago and it was hilarious.
Beverly Sills retired from opera too early. She could have kept singing for another few years.
