Watching while being snowed in on the ridge. Gotcha on the big screen and Mrs. O. is telling me how good it looks and how she can smell it from here. Mighty fine looking pot of squirrel and dumplings Chris! Love the hand forged tools. Especially the horse shoe pot hanger. Excellent video Chris!
Thanks Karl! I know Mrs. O likes some Squirrel Pot Pie!!! 🤣 I think your video put me in the mood for a good ol’ squirrel dinner! I hope the weather gets better... but I guess it may be working in your favor considering the truck issues. Thanks for putting me on the big screen!!!! 😄
Good to see you with a new video Chris. I also ran across Karl Camp Kitchen n he mentioned you n said he really liked you. I thought what a small world even on UA-cam lol take care n keep them coming!
Dang that looked good well worth the time Buddy and I just got 2 yesterday for a benefit hunt rabbit Squirrel I ended up pulling them both out of the tree first one alive lol. You got some great iron tools there like that horseshoe hook for the Dutch oven. Cheers have a great week
The sautéing of the boiled meat in butter before adding to the pot was something I saw on some state’s DNR website... might’ve been Georgia but Arkansas might’ve been it... whatever, it really makes a difference. Works for regular ol’ “yard birds” too. Thanks for watching!!!

Hey Chris , that was a very tasty looking meal . It has been years since I had squirrel dumplings . That one knife with the sheath with your C C and lantern on it was AWESOME . Great video !!!! 👍🏻🇺🇸
That made me hungry, and I had just got finished eating! It did however look more like squirrel pot pie that dumplin's. I've gotta try that recipe with the next squirrel I get.
Good to see that stump still "producing" for you after all these years. Never had squirrel but the stew looked delicious. "I'll be needing that rifle for squirrels and such" came to mind when you sat down to hunt.🤝🏻
Hi RL. Don't know what you are missing. My mom must have cooked hundreds of squirrels over the years. My dad's favorite was squirrel head dumplings. Now you do have to remember that we grew up in South Arkansas. 😂
Absolutely Awesome Video . Thanks for sharing. That was a huge oak tree you got that bushy tail from. That haversack with knife sheath was cool also. 😀👍👍👍
Thanks Rodney! Some folks think that’s one of the oldest oaks around here. It’s really big. One day I should measure how big around it is. I bet I’ve gotten 50 squirrels out of it since I’ve been hunting down there. That haversack is from Colorado Bushcraft. It’s reasonably priced and tough as nails.
I appreciate that a lot. Thank you! You’re right about the squirrel… I think less and less people know how good they are. People just prefer going to Arby’s or McDonalds these days I reckon. 🤣
Brother Chris, excellent video. That meal you threw together looked AMAZING! I appreciate your time and effort of putting all this together buddy. Big thumbs up ~John
Thanks John! Of course, you know it’s no easy task to record, edit and upload a video on UA-cam using an old broken screen iPhone. I really do it to read comments like yours. Thank you for your support over the years. 👍🏻
That pot of squirrel and dumplings looked amazing!!! Made my mouth water!!! My granny used to make the best squirrel and homemade dumplings!! Brings back fond memories from my childhood. Now I'm thinking I'm going to get a squirrel and try your recipe.
Well, that was a mighty fine looking meal. At one point you were concerned if your dumplings were going to look pretty. Food does not have to be pretty, it just has to be good. 😉The dumplings did turn out great though. I make my biscuits in a baggie and just cut the corner of the bag and it usually works our well for me. I'm going to have to get down there again and get a feed of squirrel. It looked delicious. I like the longer videos. I will have one out this weekend. It will be about 15 minutes long. I'm finishing up the edit this week........Take care, Mike.
Thanks Mike.... I’m still confused about doing longer videos. Seems people only watch a couple minutes of any video... even if it’s only a minute or two. Luckily for me, it doesn’t matter! Ha! I do what I want to do 🤣 Y’all know me, I’m just having fun! Cheers Mike!!! (And yes, you do need to come back down for some more catfish and grits, biscuits and gravy and boiled peanuts ..... and squirrel)

Hi Chris! I'm sitting here eating rice with butter and sugar. Crab meat with cheese sauce, and I that I had it going on. But you sure put me to shame. My mom seemed to always be cooking squirrels or rabbits when I was growing up. That stump never runs out. That looks delicious 😋. Even with Texas Pete. Well, I better get back to my rice. Take care, buddy.
Rice with sugar? 🤣😂😀 Dang! I never tried that. I saw your comment to RL.... I never ate squirrel heads either.... my buddies fried up the brains, but I just never tried it
