I'm fans of both Seagal and LeBell, however that rumored story of Seagal being choked out by LeBell has been disproven by three witnesses that were there and they were interviewed on the youtube channel the Viking Samurai. One witness said they were laughing while having a good time with each other and another said that all that happen was Seagal got thrown to the ground by LeBell, but Seagal never got choked out. I've also heard that LeBell himself has never declared to have choked out Seagal, but it was always the people that were around. It's a rumor that caused problems for both Seagal and LeBell. LeBell got sued and Seagal's reputation got hurt tremendously. The lie will always be there and it's a horrible lie.
There's a huge reason why to care. I did Aikido for almost 20 years and this rumor first started in the early the early 1990's and it caused a lot of problems in the Aikido Community. Thats not true Seagal said many times even at seminars that he only met the founder, but experienced his power. We knows that makes sense why else did he pursue Aikido if not for seeing the founder in the states throwing around people. The founder did come here and did give the military a demo.
