I wish math teachers would incorporate real life examples , such as these videos during a lesson. As a student, I always absorbed the material easier and faster showing real world examples. I disliked the teachers who were dry and failed to show real world applications.

What a great way to teach geometry. Instead of sitting bored and confused in a classroom, take the students outside and give them a real world application like this. This is the way to take something out of the abstract and make it real. Great stuff!

Mt rule of thumb for elevation is 2' above the Crown of the road. The most common problem I see out where I live now is setting the house too low. I also drill a hole and set a pin in my curb for my elevation. Seems like no matter where I put it on the lot it gets knocked over. Looking forward to following the build!

The graphic overlays is a new feature for RRBuildings. I appreciate that you continue to introduce new stuff to your content for us. Secondly, I can only imagine how much of a strain that was to paint those lines the way you did. A wheeled Marking Wand is the ideal tool for that.

If your going to be using LP Smartsiding please let your viewers know that the warranty doesn't cover swelling of their product or what they call edge checking especially on your field cuts that you treat and caulk.
Any painted or finished product that starts to accumulate water damage no matter where it is on the siding the first signs that damage has started is that the OSB will swell under the finish.
Time will tell if the siding holds up to moisture issues when not being installed over a true furred out rain screen.

Double checking everything is actually the respectful thing to do, for the client's money. I've seen so many people argue (over the years) that if it's already marked or done (within other contexts) you're just wasting the client's money, time etc. NAH, that's bull dust. You are making sure the client doesn't have a headache later. Because whatever tick they have to turn over with you (in the event of a mistake, in the context of having worked off their points) that tick is even bigger when the client has to have it fixed. I've been there, in both shoes, and double checking is common sense and the right way.

As someone who's house ended up like 25 or 50 feet west of where I wanted it, yup... I gave the builder a sketch, but he didn't understand where the property line was. I wanted it laid out in relation to our property line (obviously). He measured it from the visible grass, which was my *neighbor's* property line.
I don't know exactly where it was measured from, but I have an easement through there for a future driveway to the lot behind us as well as 10' utility easement on my property and 10' utility easement on the neighbor's property. At a minimum, the grass goes all the way through their easement, meaning he included one of the utility easements and the driveway easement that's not inside my property line. At worst, another 10' the wrong way for the other utility easement.
Nothing we can do now, but it was frustrating and it puts the house kind of awkwardly close to the shared driveway.

You know that when Saturday comes around, RR drop a new video. Always enjoyable and informative to watch.
The overlay of the plan graphic is a great addition to the channel as it helps us understand more fully the process. It always impresses me how you use simple, but bullet proof math to calculate everything and that you take the time to double-check what you have done. So many contractors don’t and it makes for unnecessary complications down the line and worse maybe some compromises to the design the client wants. With you guys that isn’t ever a worry. Look forward to the next instalment. 😎
