2 years but this video is still relevant. If you are using Revit 2021, Structure and Steel Tab is hidden if you set your discipline into "Architecture" when opening up your Revit for the first time. You can show these tabs by going into File > Options > User Interface. Under "Tools and Analyses" check the tabs you want to show. Then hit OK.
Thank you Balkan Architect! I'm a General Contractor but I'm starting to dabble in Revit lately, looking to learn so I can slowly get away from the hard physical labor involved in my current job. I'm thinking of getting into Revit Structural and especially steel structures, this steel connections add on is great!
Nice video/s. Thanks for mentioning structural stuff. Connections are to be different at corner depending on what fixity level is desired. For and architect, its great.
Just FYI - The reason you had an error with the colum/beam connection on the portal frame structure was because the column needs to be rotated 90degrees (column parallel with the beam). The column should always be parallel to the beam so that it works within it's strongest axis.
I really appreciate Balkan architect, everyone should be like him always learning and adapting to new ways of life. I am seeing that you have actually put in some effort to pronounce beam properly. We should never get stuck on things especially various architects around the world who don't even have an idea about the BIM culture. YOU SIMPLY ROCK BRO!!
@Muh Hajir مهجر I don't know exactly what kinds is good for that, what is most important... But my laptop is an Inspiron 14 5000 of Dell. And the configuration: Processor Intel® Core™ i7 Windows 10, 64 bits NVIDIA® MX150 2GB GDDR5 Dedicated Graphics Card 16GB RAM Memory (1x16GB), DDR4, 2666MHz
@Muh Hajir مهجر Mine has worked well. But nowadays there are many good computers and laptops on the market. If you can buy those for gamers, I think they are better, they usually have good hardware and good graphics performance. Don't worry about your English, and you don't have to say sorry. When necessary just say that you are learning, that your English is in progress. 😉 No one is born knowing anything, everything is learned. I wish you good luck and have a great day! 😊🤗
Hey firstly great tutorial on show how Revit connection works, thank you for showing how it works before I head out and purchase it for myself. Secondly, as a structural engineer, it was really funny seeing you place unless connections beams and columns. I could have made drinking game from the amount of times you said "structural engineer" Lastly, I really like your little demonstration/showing of Revit 2019 and yes I got existed seeing that I can add joint connections in my models. Keep up the good work, cheers
Thanks BA, much appreciated. I am having an issue with loading base plate connections but I found some in a RVT file and not RFA. It seems like I need to copy them in. EDIT: VISIBILITY SETTINGS LOL!
Dude, thank you so much! I couldn’t figure out how to load the connections. It’s kind of dumb to have a tiny obscure arrow to load important stuff, but maybe that’s just me.
Hi! This tutorial helps a lot to understand how to create connections with steel structures so thank you for this tutorial !! However I have a question about connections: I am working on this subject and I would like to know if it's possible to create connections with wood frameworks. I tried with the same method than the video but it didn't work...
Hello Balkan Architect, well done , this video is very useful.just a quick question please, I use Revit 2017. I cannot find the tab - steel on the menu bar for Revit 2017 and I heard from your video saying something about plug -in, I cannot load all the the steel connections, please can throw more light on this please. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
I am unable to split the horizontal beam like you showed at 13:49 . The split tool is not snapping that horizontal beam while if I tried to snap the other two vertical, it is working fine . Does any one have solution?
When you did your beam system, it appeared to place a beam on the external sketch line. My beam system never places one on the edge. What do I need to have set for this to happen?
Hallo, im trying to made conection between rafter steel castellated beam HC 600x200 to column steel WF, but eror. What should i do for fix it? Please help 🙏😭
Hi Balkan, Great video, i have a little problem i do everything like you did in the video but i can't see the connectons in any view even when i set the detail level to fine.
Hi Balkan, do you know with this warning "Invalid type or number of input elements" ??, I've tried using another PC and there is no problem when creating a steel connection, but with my PC that warning always appears, so I can't create any connection. can you help me, please? Thanks
Hey Sir! can you teach us how to use steel connections with a steel channel cause as I observed, all steel connection were only done for I- Beams or H-Beams only... Thank in advance Sir !...
How change the steel plate material. I changed plate of structure material from properties, then export to IFC file and open in solibri. But color didn`t change in solibri. How can I do that?
Hi Balkan Architect , what kind of software did you use to calculate structure load? I mean before you design structure in revit structure and analyze.
Hi Balkan Architect, dobre dan. I have the same problem like Sameer sam, I cannot find the "Steel" tab. I have the Revit 2018 as student version installed and need "Steel". How works this? Thanks,
Hi BA. Ive got a question. I see that once you add a connection of some sort, in realistic view, both beams & columns still are the original colour. for some reason, when i add any connection type to 2 steel members such as a miter to a column & beam, the column changes colour and i cant seem to figure out why. Please help me on this! regards
Thank you for the tutorial! Any idea how to attach channel (say C8) to beam (say W10) with a clip angle? Revit gives me a warning "The shapes for medium and fine detail levels of connected element are inconsistent". The beams are shown as connected, but no clip angles are produced.
dear sir i use Revit 2018. i installed the steel connections already from Autodesk but the connections are not shown, can you help me please how i can fix? thanks
I think your tutorials are very helpful and cant thank you enough but I have a quick question. I am still a student and designed a building without a real structural plan is it possible to add a structure to an existing model
Thank you so much balkan . But please can you make us railing for curved custom stairs ? Railing to be solid and fancy . Please please do that .. i din’t know how to make a curved good sweep .. like how can i pick 3D path from a stair ?
Hello Balkan, how are you? I speak to you from Argentina and I would need you to answer a question for me! What plugging is needed to make structural connections?
Login to your autodesk account - you will get profile and management tabs on top. Go to management. - click all products and services on left - select Revit (it will show your details. e.g. mine is a student version) - Go to updates and add ons (below left) - you can find 'Revit 2018 Steel connections' (many other add ons available) - click download..... Hey! First of all thanks for all of your tutorials, they've saved a lot of my time! But I have a problem - when I make a connection between steel beams/columns I can't make this connection visible! Revit just write that "The shapes for medium and fine detail levels of connected element are inconsistent". I've already tried to change visibility settings and detail level, but it didn't help! What should I do? Revit 2019.

Might be helpful to say that you should turn on the structural connections options in VG, or else you will not see any connections in 3D views.
Just FYI - The reason you had an error with the colum/beam connection on the portal frame structure was because the column needs to be rotated 90degrees (column parallel with the beam). The column should always be parallel to the beam so that it works within it's strongest axis.
Oh you was right :D Only focus on flow of lession so I did not found that reason.
i was wondering what was his reasoning for using the col in weak axis

Remove Beam System and add manually dragging new beams or use align command to move the beam...
