That background animation while Endeavor was dragging AFO to the ground was actually pretty good, way more than usual. The CG fingers look menacing. Drawings are way better than usual in almost every episode. The direction this season has helped a lot, it feels way more consistent, even whithout that many stand out cuts.
Bakugo episode is already the highest rated episode of the season and it’s one of the top 5 highest rated on IMDB. Also the Endeavor fight was awesome, they’re probably just saving the animation for the episode after next (iykyk).
Season 2 was a good season but not the best. 3 I agree on though, the first half of the season was absolute fire and AM vs AFO is still one of the best fights in the whole show.
I personally had season 6 as my favorite because it had the most action but season 7 could become my favorite season because I k a manga reader and the season is gonna become INSANE very soon.
The Todoroki punsh was intended to not feel impactfull, in the manga Horikoshi drew a Sx that would go with a fist bump. It not beeing mighty was supposed to show that Shoto was going to beat Dabi very gently.
I will check out the season shortly. I fell off MHA in the manga. It’s clear that Horikoshi was bum rushing to the finish. I hope the anime can fix a lot of the problems. As for your analysis, well done. You highlighted the problems with MHA. It’s a series that has some great direction and some great animators but it’s clear the lack of movement and composition do hold the series back. All in all, I heard the latest episode was good which is nice. Keep up the good work.

I think team is doing reasonably well with what have been given/allowed to work with. I personally enjoyed it. My only genuine gripe is how some of the background is a bit off putting, mainly the clear blue skies. Especially when you take into account that this is the final big fight in the series. Although I do get the whole shtick with the rain settling in once the major event happens in episode 11 as it is sort of a symbolization of the actual turning point in the sequence. Aside from that I think they are doing well. To be fair, it would be difficult for arguably all animation studios and teams to adapt the absolutely insane artwork in the manga imo.
If anybody says the anime was disappointing after watching episode 11 they're probably blind. That episode was one of the better anime episodes I've seen in recent years. Masterful execution. That bakugo scene was beyond perfect in every aspect. The voice acting this season is some of the very best I've seen in anime. The animation has been consistent and very very good. You can't expect demon slayer level animation from any show. But the animation has been gorgeous in its own right. And the action is just so good man. Fantastic season so far. Dabi Vs Shoto, Endeavour vs all for one, Bakugo's moment. So good

It really all depends on what animator is available for an episode. For some reason nakamura just wasn’t there until the nagant episode. Not really sure why. I really hope it’s different this season

going onto 6:23 , that was made with no impact in mind since todoroki for the entire fight was never trying to actually HURT dabi, just trying to reason with him and stop him, which is why i think just the small shake and the SFX is perfect for that moment.

The Bakugo episode almost made me tear up, from the direction to the music and animation it was honestly the best episode of the season so far and one of the best in MHA.
In short: More consistent and detailed drawings. Animation, therefore, is a bit stuck, and not exactly well animated 90% of the time, but it's not at a horrible level either.
I think i come to terms that MHA is not a really good action anime. it doesn't center around the action or the actual combat, it centers around the dialogue and characters. The flashbacks and constant yapping hinders and limits the creativity of the anime cause you would have to account for their dialogue timing the animation of the fight and there's more yap than there are fights. it's difficult to enjoy MHA for the animation because for every good sakuga there's like 10 flashbacks and yap sessions to account for. Mirio would rather talk to Shigaraki rather than stop him.
Season 7 has been pretty average so far. The fight choreography is disappointing. 20 people fighting a single person while it keeps cutting to other similar average fight scene is just low quality. First two episodes of s7 were 🔥

And this is coming from someone who had defended a lot of the series from some bad faith criticisms it has received.
