One Piece chapter 1130 is a pretty good chapter, I like the landscape shot of Elbaph. Dorry and Brogy bounties of 1.8 billion are surprising, and Loki's design is soild.

Loki being chained might be a hint about his devil fruit being Fenrir, but normal Loki from Norse mythology was also chained after he killed Baldur. A venomous snake was put above his head and it's venom would drop on his eyes torturing him.
Both Fenrir and jormungadr(the world serpent) are both of Loki's children. Fenrir would thus make the most sense since Fenrir got too powerful for the gods to handle and had to eventually subdue him with unbreakable chains and a sword through his mouth until Ragnarok inevitably happens once he and Loki are freed! The sword in the tree may be removed like it was from Fenrir to symbolize Ragnarok as the sword is likely holding elbaf together!
@@jotacatalan I had the same thought. I have only seen people talk about Fenrir, even though normal Loki went through it. He was even only chained after a bunch of aesir teamed up to capture him, the same way how all giant warriors teamed up
Had the same thought as well. I think Oda could combine certain characters into one. Skoll was also a wolf who chases after the Sun and finally catches it during Ragnarok so he can pull from that too.
I got goosebumps when I realized what the X was, and found it both hilarious and frustrating that none of the characters who would actually know what that meant were there
Robin was. Which is why she caught it as odd. She is also the only person likely to check the paper or posters. All the others would likely be dense enough to have forgot what ut was at this point.

Loki's reveal made me laugh so damn much. Because if it really is THE Loki, that's just yet another example on how you CANNOT trust Oda's silhouettes/shadowy figure. Maybe he had a Koby-style glow up after a couple years, who knows !
The Loki introduction genuinely caught me off guard given that the arc just started and seemed to be going slow. One Piece fans have been eating good ever since Gear 5 dropped and I’m glad to be here for it
Bro was so preoccupied with bounties, x's, elbaph design and loki, he forgot to talk about gerd and goldberg or that hajrudin being a prince too. Bad fictional pirates man bad.
I've had a soft spot for Loki ever since I heard he refused to marry Chiffon despite her looking exactly like Lola. Showing he liked Lola not just what she looked like. But I never expected him to go so hard lookwise lol. Like even in this chpt there was a silhouette of him that looks nothing like him, Oda. My man, whatcha doing lol.
That’s true tho, he definitely wanted Lola for who she was, not her looks, else he would’ve accepted Chiffon. Tbh that’s the only sweet part I can keep from him because this man look like he’s a real danger to the world. Introduction is even tenfolds more badass than Kaidou! 👀
@@devangoad Honestly I love his design and the fact he was genuine about wanting Lola but I believe he’s the type of guy who lost himself into darkness for good. Everything still depends on how we interact with him in the future but, the fact all giants went to restrict him still tells a dreadful story. So either way, maybe Lola felt he was wrong… Or maybe she rejected him because there were such a thing as ‘Too Tall’ for her standards. 🥲
@@vermelliwoolf8889 I’m not caught up so Im definitely not a strong voice here but what if they restricted him from something he thought the sun god should do like smash up marie joies (maybe an incredibly bad idea, but born of good intentions)
The Road arc also served as an excuse to give the Strawhats their new Elbaph outfits. I imagine it would be quite hard to find normal human size clothing in a giants country
Speaking of Loki's aura of endgame antagonist, Luffy did feel or "hear" a roar that gave him goosebumps. Could this mean that Loki has Conqueror's Haki? Because at this point I feel that is a requirement for any villain who can hold a candle to Luffy.
Definitely so and I’d go on to say that any villan or player that’s gonna even compete at that level will need even just the bare minimum to be in the race of pirate king or to even stop it
Idk if Loki is going to be a villain. The way Luffy is responding to him doesn't feel antagonistic. Oda seemed to put an emphasis on Luffy seeing Gerd and Goldberg as "friendly". Presumably to remind us that Luffy has a great sense of people.
One Piece fans will try to connect anything and everything... You're probably 1 of 1,000 people who even know that and I seriously doubt Oda is part of the group.
@@BaldorfBreakdownsI agree that sometimes OP are exaggerating. But this time L1130 and chapter 1130 can’t be accident for me. The last 4 chapter (which for me was like a boring filler) was there to get the right chapter. In other words it was calculated. When people think of Loki the Marvel version alaways come up in mind. Oda is of course aware of Loki marvel existence and made some research of him before Elbaf. Just look at the Loki’s OP version helmet …
I'm so happy and relieved that Oda didn't make Loki look goofy, but the way he looks rn is so badass and wicked sick so much drip in Elbaf. Not to mention that picture of the X on Luffy's arm way to go Vivi and cool to see Gerd again plus new giant bounties literally 😅
Sanji giving Nami his jacket/scarf any time she's too exposed or in the cold always put a smile in my face. He may be a pervert, but his gentleman nature is more true to himself!
Sure, there's a similarity to Fenrir of norse mythology, but I think the resemble to Loki is more striking: His punishment for killing Baldr was being tied to rock and have snake venom dripped in his eyes until the end of the world. Between the chains and gauze around the eyes, I think that's more likely to be design inspiration.
You are right about that but his fruit is likely Fenrir given how important Fenrir(Loki's son) yes the giant wolf, was to causing Ragnarok and being chained by unbreakable chains too.
now it makes sense why the group got separated to those two groups, its all in effort to build up the tension of the eventual reveal that vivi needs their help and set up the next destination after elbaph
I don't know if it just isn't that well known outside of scandinavia, but in norse mythology Loki himself is also chained up for a very long time. It's not just Fenrir
Fun fact, in norse myth, after the murder of the god Baldur, which was said to be the inciting incident of Ragnarok, Loki was chained to a boulder with his own intestines, personally, I think this is more referencing the Loki imprisonment instead of the Fenrir one. Also I love that he is chained up in a snowy envoiorment, reminiscent of fimbulwinter, the precurser to ragnarok, (or its symbolic of Helheim being at the bottle of the world tree, could be anything, the one thing I know for certain, When Ragnarok begins and the Galarhorn is blow, all chains shall loosen, freeing all, including the titanic sun god)
Oda nailed the atmosphere so good, the shot with the bridge and the castel, I felt like I was playing Dark Souls I again and I entered the Painted World of Ariamis.
My initial reaction when hearing about Loki’s ‘heirloom’ devil fruit, was that he’s referring to the Nika fruit, as he calls himself the sun god. It also makes sense that that’s why Shanks specifically was the one to steal it from the navy, so he could perhaps take it back to elbaph.
I also love how Robin is the one strawhat that JUST missed the X meaning. Because she was on Alabasta so she would have known about them binding their arms, but as Miss Sunday, she had no clue they were hiding an X. Cause it was specifically designed to trick them.
Oden died by a trickery and one gun shot. No one seems really care. But when it comes to mr.3 using a trick on two giants and failed. People talk about bout it
@@vermelliwoolf8889 Let's not forget he stopped Magellan for a while. Don't sleep on Galdino. He is weak but he can topple giants with trickery. He is kinda like Usopp now that I think about it.
I'm curious to see if the legends about Elbaf being the birthplace of war would have anything to do with the old sun god Nika. Also an amazing touch that loki is smiling when Luffy first meets him. Very sinister.
@@Truck-kun11yeah, I just wish they start learning things we know as the audience. I don't think the story needs another subplot of them trying to figure out where she is. As Loki exclaimed to be the Sun God, my mind tried to switch out his helmet with the giant strawhat from Mariejois. The result was .... weird. Like switching from intimidating-insane to happy-go-lucky-insane. "Hats make the man".
Loki's punishment isn't a reference to Fenrir but rather his own punishment after causing the death of Baldr. For his crime, Loki is bound in chains and imprisoned under the earth. An adder is placed overhead that will perpetually leak venom on to his face. His wife, Sigyn, is given a saucer to catch the venom but sometimes she must leave to drain it. Allowing the venom to drip and Loki to writhe in pain; causing earthquakes. Instead of Baldr we have a King Harald. An obvious reference to Haraldr Bluetooth, who unified the Danes under Christianity in the 960s. Loki's tattoos may represent wings referring to Freyja's feather cloak. Which Norse Loki would often borrow/steal to fast travel in the form of a falcon. Finally, the place where Loki is chained may represent _Járnviðr_ (yahrn-vee-fur "Iron Woods"), the dark forest where Fenrir dwelled before capture. Siring a multitude of monster wolves with troll-women. Among this brood will come Sköll and Hati, who are destined to devour the sun and moon at Ragnarök.
Actually, the first time I saw that amazing Loki panel I didn't think of Fenrir, I thought about the tale of Loki being bound to a cave with chains made from one of the two children he had received with Sigyn, his wife. A lot of story points coincide with what we already know! Afaik, Loki got bound by the gods because he was partly responsible for Baldr's death, son of Odin & Frigg and brother of Thor, etc. He tried to flee but was eventually captured by the gods. After they bound him they placed a poisonous snake on a rock above his head, where it dripped venom onto his face. But Sigyn, ever faithful, would stay with him and catch the venom in a bowl - only when she needed to empty it did it drip onto Loki's face and as the tales go, the earth shook with his agony, meaning earthquakes. So the chains, bandages over his eyes, his attempt to flee, and the shaking the Strawhats mentioned (even if it could just be the bridge swaying) totally made me think of all that! P.S. the tales state that Loki will only break free once Ragnarok commences.
The thing about Loki that scares me the most is his response to Luffy's "I'm going to be king of the pirates." The speech bubble with only the word "king" after it being revealed that he killed his father king Harold just oozes malice and bloodlust to me
Something I noticed with Elbaph’s tree is we only see two layers and one with a giant sword spanning almost the entire showing tree. They did say it has to be thousands of years old. With the sinking of the world I bet there are multiple layers below the sea and old giant villages. Probably the ancient giants like you said. And would make sense if the base just keeps getting wider which it seems it does.
As someone who’s into mythology, I love Loki’s introduction. Chained to a tree with bandages over his eyes making a reference to his punishment for killing Baldur.
Loki is introduced in the exact same way as Zoro and Jinbei... Villain or future strawhat? I have a feeling we might be up for one of the most tragic backstories in One Piece either way.
Such irony that out of all people , Robin, Jinbei, Franky and Brook read the newspaper with the „X“ on Luffy‘s arm 😄 now we see why the Alabasta gang was separated from the beginning
Loki has more similarities to doflamingo than just the tongue and smile. Loki is chained up and last time we saw, doflamingo is wrapped in chains, we haven’t seen any other level 6 prisioner kept this way so maybe that’s relevant.
Guys just had worn out weapons, no booze and had been fighting every day for 100 years. They just needed some R&R. Galdino caught them slipping and that is that.
I feel like it got overshadowed by the Loki reveal, but this chapter also casually confirmed that Hajrudin is also a prince of Elbaph, which I don’t think we knew before.
This chapter really had everything... New mystery, new world exploration, new fun moments between characters, and it made me feel like the world is gonna end... Amazing honestly
Hey Liam, bit of info for you. In Mythology, Loki was bound under the world tree by chains crafted by the dwarves, poison periodically dripped on him causing him to scream and yell in pain, and that is what caused earthquakes and landslides. The reason for him being chained was also because he caused the death of Baldr, by tricking the blind god Höðr into shooting him with the 1 thing that could harm him, he did this because he was jealous of Baldr and what he had. It's when Loki breaks free of these chains that Ragnarök begins, and the end of all nine worlds comes, culminating in Surtr swinging his giant sword of fire in his death throes and reducing the world tree and all the worlds to ash.
One thing I liked about Loki's introduction is that Luffy introduced himself as "the man who will become the Pirate King" and Loki just took it in stride. Not quite sure off the top of my head, but this might be the first major antagonist who did not disparage Luffy for proclaiming himself as the future Pirate King.
My man really saw I re-watch all his videos while gaming and said "hold my beer" I feel real called out by the calm belt, especially the "pause what you're doing to pick a new video" part
Elbaf's (or ph?) art has already hooked me. The last 2 double spreads remind me of when Oda hadn't picked up the pace and flexed his artistic muscles from time to time.
I have a very strange feeling we will see mad monk urouge. All the other arcs previously have had a worst gen member and he is only one remaining we haven’t seen.
What if the fruit passed down through the royal family was the gum gum fruit, which when Loki was fighting for it, it somehow got passed to shanks. Maybe that is why Loki calls himself the sun God because he knows the truth behind the fruit
When luffy says he felt/heard a roar, it made me think of the voice of all things. And if so maybe that means Loki can tap into that and has CoC? Idk mind is all over the place😅
Everyone is talking about Loki being the big bad of the Elbaph Arc. But the expression on Luffy's face when he meets Loki is that of wonder and amazement. I think Luffy is going to ask Loki to join the crew, on the condition that Luffy can beat him, and that's the conflict for half the arc.
Not sure if this is the official translation, but one of the giants said "Loki devoted himself to darkness". Is this not a MAJOR hint that he might join up with Blackbeard one way or another? The man with the Darkness fruit! Maybe we deal with Loki for a while in Elbaph then when he seems to be defeated Blackbeard strolls in, saves Loki and escapes in typical BB fashion. I would atleast place a small bet on that happening.
could have to do with his devil fruit found a mythical zoan from norse mythology that fits and it looks like loki. Draugr {The draugr were undead creatures, stronger than humans and possessing the ability to increase their size and to shapeshift. They are depicted as hideous to look at and reeking of rot and decay. They would also escape their tombs by swimming through solid rock. They would guard their graves and treasure, sometimes a royal palace or burial mound. But the draugr are not ghosts in the traditional sense, but rather reanimated bodies of the dead. In many tales, they can only be killed by the destruction of the putrid body. In some tales such as Þórólfr bægifótr (Thorolf Twist-Foot), the draugr possess a kind of transmission of their undead qualities, turning others they attack into draugr. Tales of their magical powers are also numerous, with some draugr shapeshifting, entering into dreams, and creating darkness in their surroundings. They also can bring disease and bad luck.}
no joke, my reaction to seeing Loki for the first time while i was reading the chapter was 'holy shit'. he has to have one of my favourite character designs in the entire series, he's just so damn cool.
I love that the last thing you said was "Will Luffy free him and start Ragnarok" I was talking to my two friends and all three of us predicted that was what would happen. He's gonna be like "Can't be free when you're chained to a tree" and just let him go.

I'd like to state that as stupid as I am and easy in missing the BEST details ever in OP, the moment Robin said 'the X is clear and remainder of the picture is blurry' that SCREAMED to me 'VIVI' in the same moment.
Seriously, something I have never had before in One Piece happened with Loki. If this guy is as cool personality-wise as he is design-wise, he has serious favorite character potential for me. And you put into words what I thought, with a grin on his face that nobody in his situation should have, he is up to nothing good and I'm here for it.
Hajrudin being titled as the "Son of the King" means he's our allied royalty of the arc. If Loki does end up being the main antagonist, then we could see another legendary devil fruit that could be the "Thor" variation. Which could mean that Loki may have consumed the Snake Snake Fruit Model Jormungandr. Loki being Jormungandr could be a call back to Dorry and Brogy's line about not being able to break the "red serpent" so maybe their only hope is either Luffy or "Thor". Jormungandr was also Thor's final opponent during Ragnarok.
my theory on loki and hajrudin. On hajrudin- We know he's apparently the "son of the king" which is mentioned in the chapter but too many people jump to the conclusion he is the son of king Harold / the Odin of one piece but i dont think the chapter implies that. I mean if we look at the big mom flashback we dont see him being treated like a prince he's literally just in the village chilling and training with the pirates. contrast that to loki who was clearly treated specially in every moment he's mentioned. They literally celebrated his birth(i know they also celebrated the birth of the village kids too but they clearly make the birth of the prince the main priority with the others literally just being a bonus) and had a full on party. AND they were willing to fix things with big mom just cause he fell in love with one of her daughters after everything big mom did which is insane. Hajrudin ain't get that treatment... he literally worked for buggy at one point they did not care what he did. so no i dont think Hajrudin is Loki's brother instead i think he was the son of the PRINCE (at that time) not the king which is why he was treated differently. And what prince im i talking about? Not Loki cause Hajrudin is LITERALLY older than him (he was a kid in the BM flashback and loki was a newborn) but the other prince that surprisingly was never mention in one piece once even though he's the most iconic god in Norse mythology, I'm talking about THOR. Yes i think hajrudin is the son of Thor and the nephew of loki. And yes im also implying that thor is the current king of elbaph which is why they called him the son of the king cuz the kings position has been passed down to the first prince of elbaph Thor after king harold died to loki. we know the kings position is vacant rn the only person who can fill in is thor and i fill like the giant would've specified that he was the child of the previous king if he really was harold son. Agewise it does fit too i mean giant live up to 300 years and assume that harold/odin was 300 yrs old by the time at his death (which would make sense as odin is always depicted as an old man)and he died recently. he would have loki at around 240 years old he was around 220 when Hajrudin was born( loki is 63 and Hajrudin is 81) lets minus a minimum of 60 year for him to be mature to be able to have a child ( loki is 60 right now and he's clearly a full grown giant) then thor could be up to 160 year old when he had hajrudin so thor himself can be up to 240 year old now which seems a bit too old. Lets say thor was 80(same age as hajrudin) when he had hajrudin then today he'd be 160 (around the age of dorry and brogy) and harold had thor at 140 year old then which is middle age and loki at 240 which is hella old and the age difference between the 2 is 100 years. lorewise this also explains why thor wasn't mentioned at all if he's the current king then he has a big role to play in this arc but he'll mostly be in the background like neptune. also if my age thing is right to it does make sense why they celebrated loki's birth it was practically a miracle as harold what around 60 years old in human age when he had loki which is wild.

Surprised you didn't mention the fact that Harjudin is also a giant prince. It's mentionned by Kashii right before one the giant pirate speak about Loki. Speaking of Loki, one interesting thing about his design, is the hat he wears. Is it me or does it looks like a straw hat (if you remove the horns)? Also there is something covered in bandages sticking out on Loki's right, looks like it's stuck behind his back, I'm curious about what it could be, I doubt the giants would have left a weapon of some kind with him.
Oda clearly took inspiration from various versions when he designed Loki. He gave him the horns of Marvel Loki, the viking attire from Mythology Loki, as well as the chains refering to his binding, after he killed Baldur, which could also be a referance to his son Fenris. Him refering to himself as the sun god could also be a nod to his grandson Skoll who will eat the sun. This guy looks cool as hell, and I'm curious what the Devil Fruit will be.
Robin was technically there when the strawhats said goodbye to Viv, and she did mention the x being familiar in the chapterso I think she can probably put the pieces together.
i'm not so sure about that, she wasn't there when they drew the marks and she doesn't know the purpose of it, she was also under the deck when they raised hands to show it to Vivi. She may seen it after, but she has no idea it's connected to Vivi. Robin is smart, but she literally has no information to draw a conclusion xD
It's also heavily implied that Luffy got a nice bounty increase as well as Dory and Broggy both state that Luffy now rival's Shanks, which would be rather redundant if they simply meant to refer to his status as a Yonko. So if I have to take a guess, Luffy, Shanks, Blackbeard and Buggy are all gonna have bounty increases, with Luffy's being the most drastic if it is meant to rival Shanks. Personally, I think both Luffy and Shanks are fast approaching 5 billion berries.
I wholeheartedly believe Loki BELIEVES he has eaten the Hito Hito no Mi, model Nika; this is the special fruit that had been passed down through generations of royalty. HOWEVER, somehow the navy sneakily replaced it with a fake. Shanks found out about thid and went and retrieved it to bring it back to Elbaf when Luffy ate it.
We can go EVEN further by theorising that Saul learned of the second coming of joyboy, and returned to Elbaf to tell the king and have the eldest son HARJUDIN eat the fruit and become the sun god. However, the jealous younger sibling Loki let his intrusive thoughts win and killed his father and ate the fruit so that he could become the sun god.

Loki being chained might be a hint about his devil fruit being Fenrir, but normal Loki from Norse mythology was also chained after he killed Baldur.
A venomous snake was put above his head and it's venom would drop on his eyes torturing him.
Maybe that's why loki is blindfolded by those bandages
Both Fenrir and jormungadr(the world serpent) are both of Loki's children. Fenrir would thus make the most sense since Fenrir got too powerful for the gods to handle and had to eventually subdue him with unbreakable chains and a sword through his mouth until Ragnarok inevitably happens once he and Loki are freed! The sword in the tree may be removed like it was from Fenrir to symbolize Ragnarok as the sword is likely holding elbaf together!
@@jotacatalan I had the same thought. I have only seen people talk about Fenrir, even though normal Loki went through it. He was even only chained after a bunch of aesir teamed up to capture him, the same way how all giant warriors teamed up
@@DANCERcow I personally see the sword as a reference to Surtr and his giant sword
Had the same thought as well. I think Oda could combine certain characters into one. Skoll was also a wolf who chases after the Sun and finally catches it during Ragnarok so he can pull from that too.
THAT DOBLE INTRO PAGE FOR LOKI IS AMAZING
I got goosebumps when I realized what the X was, and found it both hilarious and frustrating that none of the characters who would actually know what that meant were there
I guess that's why Oda decided to come up with this situation to separate all the Pre-Alabasta crew from the rest haha.
Robin was. Which is why she caught it as odd. She is also the only person likely to check the paper or posters. All the others would likely be dense enough to have forgot what ut was at this point.
@@mrbubbles6468 nami would 100% know, but robin wouldnt because she joined the strawhats like two chapters after vivi's goodbye, so she has seen it but doesnt know the meaning.
Loki's reveal made me laugh so damn much. Because if it really is THE Loki, that's just yet another example on how you CANNOT trust Oda's silhouettes/shadowy figure. Maybe he had a Koby-style glow up after a couple years, who knows !
I mean, he's been doing this since the warlords! my head canon is just that's how the people who are discussing them imagine them to be

People saying Loki is so strong that Usopp cant beat him are really ignnoring that Usopp never really uses strength to win any of his fights.
Exactly all of his wins are done through trickery of some kind which makes the literal trickster god his perfect opponent.

Im highly skeptical that he is a bad guy, the art doesn’t give off doflamingo type malice in my eyes
@@devangoadeveryone is calling him crazy, they said it took lots of giants to hold him back. He’s definitely evil

😂😂😂yeees but Jango combined with Diamanté!!
Loki in Lolas flashback: goofy
Loki in Elbaph: *devil from hell*
The Road arc also served as an excuse to give the Strawhats their new Elbaph outfits. I imagine it would be quite hard to find normal human size clothing in a giants country
Internet man! You forgot to mention Chpper’s call back to Drum Island. Bad man!
Speaking of Loki's aura of endgame antagonist, Luffy did feel or "hear" a roar that gave him goosebumps. Could this mean that Loki has Conqueror's Haki? Because at this point I feel that is a requirement for any villain who can hold a candle to Luffy.
Definitely so and I’d go on to say that any villan or player that’s gonna even compete at that level will need even just the bare minimum to be in the race of pirate king or to even stop it
with that level of ambition he is gonna have that
i thought the roar was going to be a voice of all things kind of deal, because i dont think the other strawhats heard it.
No way luffy beats this dude
Idk if Loki is going to be a villain. The way Luffy is responding to him doesn't feel antagonistic. Oda seemed to put an emphasis on Luffy seeing Gerd and Goldberg as "friendly". Presumably to remind us that Luffy has a great sense of people.
that's why he is beginning to be interesting
Loki is Variant L1130 in Marvel. Loki is revealed in chapter 1130. Oda is cooking brilliance again mom & dad
Coincidence. Get Oda's meat out your mouth bro.
Low-key Loki
@@geaarmel6764 Thank you for reinforcing my point...

Also, Franky is an absolute boss with that outfit!
Sanji giving Nami his jacket/scarf any time she's too exposed or in the cold always put a smile in my face. He may be a pervert, but his gentleman nature is more true to himself!
Sure, there's a similarity to Fenrir of norse mythology, but I think the resemble to Loki is more striking:
His punishment for killing Baldr was being tied to rock and have snake venom dripped in his eyes until the end of the world. Between the chains and gauze around the eyes, I think that's more likely to be design inspiration.
You are right about that but his fruit is likely Fenrir given how important Fenrir(Loki's son) yes the giant wolf, was to causing Ragnarok and being chained by unbreakable chains too.
The way my heart fluttered when I realized that Vivi put the X on Luffy's photo, but none of the Straw Hats there would know what it was for. 😢
now it makes sense why the group got separated to those two groups, its all in effort to build up the tension of the eventual reveal that vivi needs their help and set up the next destination after elbaph
I don't know if it just isn't that well known outside of scandinavia, but in norse mythology Loki himself is also chained up for a very long time. It's not just Fenrir
yes
not just with regular chains either in mythology those are the entrails of his own son narfi odin is ruthless asf 😅😅
Fun fact, in norse myth, after the murder of the god Baldur, which was said to be the inciting incident of Ragnarok, Loki was chained to a boulder with his own intestines, personally, I think this is more referencing the Loki imprisonment instead of the Fenrir one. Also I love that he is chained up in a snowy envoiorment, reminiscent of fimbulwinter, the precurser to ragnarok, (or its symbolic of Helheim being at the bottle of the world tree, could be anything, the one thing I know for certain, When Ragnarok begins and the Galarhorn is blow, all chains shall loosen, freeing all, including the titanic sun god)
not his own intestines those of his son narfi which is even worse imo
That is not how I thought Loki looked lol

The thing about Loki that scares me the most is his response to Luffy's "I'm going to be king of the pirates."
The speech bubble with only the word "king" after it being revealed that he killed his father king Harold just oozes malice and bloodlust to me
Something I noticed with Elbaph’s tree is we only see two layers and one with a giant sword spanning almost the entire showing tree.
14:14 If Elbaph legends say that the Sun God will destroy the world, there could be a little Surtr in the mix.
That huge sword could be Surtur's
Loki is introduced in the exact same way as Zoro and Jinbei... Villain or future strawhat? I have a feeling we might be up for one of the most tragic backstories in One Piece either way.
Glad someone else saw it too
Such irony that out of all people , Robin, Jinbei, Franky and Brook read the newspaper with the „X“ on Luffy‘s arm 😄 now we see why the Alabasta gang was separated from the beginning
I absolutely love loki’s design. His eyes being covered and his massive smile reminds me of the batman who laughs looks
Loki has more similarities to doflamingo than just the tongue and smile. Loki is chained up and last time we saw, doflamingo is wrapped in chains, we haven’t seen any other level 6 prisioner kept this way so maybe that’s relevant.
I really hope Oda makes some swords based on Norse mythology, because we really need some more Meito blades in this final saga.
No mention of the prince Hajrudin, who needs to get his aura up his brother showed him up in one chapter 🥶
Luffy's pictures in the newsletters are literally bulletin boards for cryptic messages at this point.
Loki's introduction panel was so amazing I had to stare at it in mesmerization for about 5 minutes straight.
My man really saw I re-watch all his videos while gaming and said "hold my beer"
I feel real called out by the calm belt, especially the "pause what you're doing to pick a new video" part
Elbaf's (or ph?) art has already hooked me. The last 2 double spreads remind me of when Oda hadn't picked up the pace and flexed his artistic muscles from time to time.
I have a very strange feeling we will see mad monk urouge. All the other arcs previously have had a worst gen member and he is only one remaining we haven’t seen.
it would be weird if only one gets left out, i dont think he will show up soon tho. unless that tree in the clouds... hmmmm
What if the fruit passed down through the royal family was the gum gum fruit, which when Loki was fighting for it, it somehow got passed to shanks. Maybe that is why Loki calls himself the sun God because he knows the truth behind the fruit
The people claiming to be a sun god could fill out that "You're Squidward, He's Squidward, I'm Squidward!" meme.
The Loki doublepage has to be easily in the Top 10 of best things Oda has Drawn in One Piece. Loki chained to the Tree is such a damn ominous picture.
I like how after their introduction Loki pretty much just tells Luffy “What is a king to a god?”
Pea soup is great, one must imagine the giants happy while eating pea soup. I will now watch the video
When luffy says he felt/heard a roar, it made me think of the voice of all things. And if so maybe that means Loki can tap into that and has CoC? Idk mind is all over the place😅
Could be The Voice of All Things
I would atleast place a small bet on that happening.
could have to do with his devil fruit found a mythical zoan from norse mythology that fits and it looks like loki. Draugr {The draugr were undead creatures, stronger than humans and possessing the ability to increase their size and to shapeshift. They are depicted as hideous to look at and reeking of rot and decay. They would also escape their tombs by swimming through solid rock.
They would guard their graves and treasure, sometimes a royal palace or burial mound.
But the draugr are not ghosts in the traditional sense, but rather reanimated bodies of the dead. In many tales, they can only be killed by the destruction of the putrid body.
In some tales such as Þórólfr bægifótr (Thorolf Twist-Foot), the draugr possess a kind of transmission of their undead qualities, turning others they attack into draugr.
Tales of their magical powers are also numerous, with some draugr shapeshifting, entering into dreams, and creating darkness in their surroundings. They also can bring disease and bad luck.}
no joke, my reaction to seeing Loki for the first time while i was reading the chapter was 'holy shit'. he has to have one of my favourite character designs in the entire series, he's just so damn cool.
I love that the last thing you said was "Will Luffy free him and start Ragnarok" I was talking to my two friends and all three of us predicted that was what would happen. He's gonna be like "Can't be free when you're chained to a tree" and just let him go.
Very cool chapter seeing Loki and the full spread of Elbaph. It would be cool what see what capabilties Giant devil fruit users have besides Sanjuan Wolf ocourse.
On hajrudin-
We know he's apparently the "son of the king" which is mentioned in the chapter but too many people jump to the conclusion he is the son of king Harold / the Odin of one piece but i dont think the chapter implies that.
I hope there are Yonko-level Giant characters and Admiral-level Giant Warriors in Elbaf, after all remember that there was a World Military Draft in which Strong Characters like Fujitora and Greenbull were recruited so just like Mihawk* and Figarland Garling, there should be Other** Admiral-tier characters/Yonko-level monstrous characters out there in the One Piece World. Why I see Loki asking nicely Luffy to free him? And Luffy doing it! 😂
elbaf and loki give me hard dark souls 3 vibes from the doc
Surprised you didn't mention the fact that Harjudin is also a giant prince. It's mentionned by Kashii right before one the giant pirate speak about Loki. Speaking of Loki, one interesting thing about his design, is the hat he wears. Is it me or does it looks like a straw hat (if you remove the horns)? Also there is something covered in bandages sticking out on Loki's right, looks like it's stuck behind his back, I'm curious about what it could be, I doubt the giants would have left a weapon of some kind with him.
Seeing loki was the most awe inspiring panel since I caught up for me. He gave me more chills than seeing Saturn for the first time
Insert Oda level twist. Luffy frees Loki, Loki ends up destroying Fishman island.
On a side note; a Lunarian Giant seraphim would be amazing to see.
We can go further by theorising the giants had no idea about the gomu gomu abilities, and that Loki is simply waiting for the fruit to awaken.
As someone who watched every video on NewWorldReview and even watched the 2 hour complete catchup video, the Calm Belt feels like the perfect thing.
Great Idea Liam
