These videos are just on a different level. I learned so much in 20 minutes and my vocals sound 5x better because of this. I could recognize all of those mistakes in my production.

The “set range” for transitioning between notes is a real golden nugget in this! This solves SO many issues for me, thanks.

@@ClipzCollective You might need to switch to “show all” on the left side. If it’s set to default then you can’t set range.

    Mr. Sigalas ...
Now I've watched some 20 or 30 videos of yours and you have simply placed yourself as THE numba ONE instructor regarding using Cubase 11 for music production!
I have a looooong way to go, but I will come back and re-watch your work another couple of dozen times to produce my own stuff!
I will mainly use Cubase as a composition tool since I have a friend who are lightyears ahead regarding production, mixing, engineering ... whatever it's called ... but I REALLY REALLY admire your enthusiasm about the whole thing:
Whenever there is a simple kick drum rolling, you're juzz rockin' along!
    AAAALAIK-IT !!!
I'm "with you" on every beat!
And I might even send you material in the future ...
Keep doz videoz comin' ... I'll eat every second of it!
    ML
    Stefan

The transition curve blew my mind! Thanks for this. I've been using Cubase for a while now for mixing and I've deliberately avoided any pitch-correction because of bad experiences years ago when it was in its infancy (and most-likely inexperience). I've recently received a vocal to mix which has a very noticeable, unnatural pitch-correction transition on the opening lyrics and I was struggling to think of ways to tackle it. I think the person who recorded it used it and thought it was subtle and nobody would notice lol. Watching your video has given me some hope and I now feel comfortable at least giving it a try! I'm going to try see if I can correct it by "fighting fire with fire" (The irony when you need to pitch-correct the pitch correction lol). Thanks again.

Good morning Dom. This was a very interesting video about vocals. I learned a few things this morning. I would appreciate it you can go a little bit slower when you show you illustrations. Some times you zoom in on your illustrations a bit to fast for me and I can’t always find or follow where you are going in Cubase to duplicate using some of the tools that you are using inside of Cubase. Your are extremely talented and I really appreciate your enthusiasm when you come across some amazing things that your fine inside of Cubase. Like when you say (BOOM). I saw you go off in a video that you made of using the (Step/MIDI/Input). I am still trying to understand how to use that tool correctly. You went a little to fast for me on that video too. But your enthusiasm made me really want to learn how to add those tricks into my music as well. Thank you for your enthusiasm and sharing your teaching abilities and helping us all grow musically. Now, back to this video. I would really love to see you do a video on Vari-audio. The only reason that I am asking you to go a little bit slower at times is because I am still learning how to get around in side of Cubase and I can’t zip around Cubase as fast as you can but, I am trying very hard to keep up. Thank you again for sharing your gifts and I do wish you continue success in all of your endeavors in your musical career.

I chose Cubase 2 years ago because of the connections with my Yamaha Moxf8 and Variaudio. I have recorded & mixed a number of original compositions since then but decided to take a time out and go back to learn more. My background is schooled musician/vocalist. At first I tried to fix everything manually (never used auto correct or quantize even a section), but often my corrections would make the original vocal sound even better. I did not know about the set range for straighten pitch curve. That will be of great help. Thanks for the video and tips!

Thought I'd watch because I figured I'd pick up some little tip about VariAudio I didn't know, because I always seem to pick up something from your videos. Instead I picked up huge tips and wish I'd watched this last week before I did some major multi-track editing of vocals. And yes, the little transition smoothing triangle was one of the things I didn't know about... (the anchor point was another; not correcting sibilants was one I hadn't thought of). Oh, and one of the reasons I'm on Cubase now instead of another popular DAW is VariAudio.

Hi Dom, great video. Are there any keyboard shortcuts for editing the vocal blocks? You can hover the mouse over a block and several small squares appear and these are used for editing. Some shortcuts would be useful.
Rather than using the pitch correction tool, I will often cut up the block into smaller pieces and then put the blocks in pitch which does make it a bit more natural. Also a handy tool I just discovered today is the loop tool. High light a section and press the arrow on the far left of the top tool bar (press the button next to it for looping). I always learn so much from your channel, keep up the good work mate.

You can deal with the 4th mistake even easier. You can use the chord track, set your scale there, and in variaudio select the option to colour blocks according to chord track. Then it automatically will color them red if they are out of scale.

One question. Do you sometimes mix up audio warp with vari audio or is that interferring in your opinion? Today i have used one acapella lead vox and told via the audio alignment function on the upper right to align the other voices by wording. That has added Audiowarp information but i felt in Variaudio some corrective functions like stretching tones is blocked. Please do more video hacks on Variaudio
