The characters in this anime were designed by Hisashi Hirai. He’s one of my favorite Japanese artist of all time. And he happened to be the most underrated artist of all time because his work wasn’t been well recognize.
I finished this anime last month and btw amazing anime and this is criminally underrated and the new gen of anime fans need to watch this I bet you they'll love it

This anime holds a special place in my heart. I really love it and it doesn’t get talked about much. I wish to rewatch it the first time again.
I literally thought for a second that this was Fafner because art style. Looks like I've got something else to watch.... and I said I was never really into the giant mech stuff.... except Fafner. But I'm seeing stuff I like.... so I'll give it a chance
Its really sad that mangas that gets animated are all pure fan service which reflects the current majority of what the Japanese readers currently like. There's so many manga that are just thrown under the bus and never gets animated but are the ones with the best narrative quality which I think the anime industry lost. Animes nowadays are just following the same formula of their overly cliche genres but those majority readers in Japan still loves it lmao. I honestly think this is the reason why Manhwas and even Chinese Manhuas are on the rise. So many unique stories and creative authors/artist not bound by their company to over produce simplified storylines and characters.
I have always felt since I saw this anime that the idea of the Iron race being the only one to reach the stars from their own efforts to be one that needs more exploring. As much as I adore the anime it needed expanding upon. I find the concept inspirational.
I LOVE these type of anime when the setting is in outer space and in a futuristic time period. And it's freakin hard to find a good one like this. Are there anymore like this?

I really like this opening. It has a "feel" to it other openings don't. It has impact to it like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni's opening (which has the same name as the show), Neon Genesis Evangelion's opening, Soul Eater's opening (which is weird since battle anime tend to have non-impacting openings), The World Got Only Knows opening, and Chobits opening, to name a few.
I love this anime. I originally watched when it was aired, I watched again 5 years ago (or so) and I am watching it now in 2023. Criminally underrated. To me the story and the opening song is top tier. Unfortunately, I can not say the same for the main characters…
When the title card appears and you have the swell of the music, that echo and the type of lighting of it, THAT is the anime I want back. Honestly, modern anime has degraded compared to what it once was in the 80's-early 2000's
indeed i just finished it myself, i wont spoil anything but the later episodes get really action filled. it is sorta mecha with some organic mecha thrown in

I watched this in 2016. such a long time it has been. It share same character designer as Gunndam Seed and Destiny as well as Sokyuu no fafner. I is sad such good futuristic shows so not some out now.
