Aside from the iconic black and white original, a lot of the later nWo shirts were really weird, in that they were just a picture of one specific member wearing an nWo shirt.
It wasn't. He went to Japan for a match with Rick Steiner in 2000. People don't want to count his TNA match but I thought it was fine for a one-off guest appearance.
I'll never understand why Vince stopped using Macho in 93-94. He was still so over and could have had amazing programs with Hart, Micheals and Ramon. I truly think Randy would have stayed with the WWF if they hadn't shelved him for no good reason.
Randy was a casualty of the steroid trial. If it weren't for that, I think Vince would've carried on booking him. Even if it was only on a part time basis.
Macho wanted to retire after summerslam. Then Vince talked him back into the ring. Then he got injured and he was put back on commentary. When Savage wanted to return to the ring Vince pretty much wanted to create new stars after the Hogan-Warrior issues..
Nope. This was already after the Bulls Dynasty when Rodman was on the Lakers. The 'Match' that was on The Last Dance was on March 10th 1997 and Rodman didn't even have a Match, he was just there
Awesome new series guys. Reminds me of sbnations rewinder series and I'm loving it. The line at the end about the way a world without guarantees works got me.
Spotlighting the end of Macho Man Randy Savage's wrestling career in WCW was literally depressing asf and the music playing in the background certainly didn't help. It's very unfortunate Savage's career didn't really end on a hige note, WCW destroyed that possibility.
I truly believed he loved wrestling and wanted to do it full time at any cost. WCW gave him that chance. Of course, they were incompetent in his booking as they were with most of their talent. That was to be expected. Unlike Vince, they let him get in there every night to mix it up and do his thing. I think that was a good thing for him from 95-2000
you know what's crazy is aj styles is just as old as savage is in the late 90s!! aj has arguably worked a even more demanding style and is still performing at the top of his game. ppl just seemed to live a harsher lifestyle that made them deteriorate faster than the guys nowadays.
Yea, that’s wild. It’s very sad to think back to the glory days. I think a lot about these guys and how fast life goes. I’m honored to have atleast most of every wrestler Autograph I grew up watching, but it sucks at the same time knowing there will never be another appearance or match or promo from any of them ever again! No more “Machoisms” or Heenan and Gorilla laugh fests, Piper iconic-ness promos or anything from sooo many of the icons I grew up with! Miss Owen, Piper, Pillman and Heenan so much! All of em actually, but those four really suck.
I think Randy's new look in WCW was a great look... he basically just updated his original look by toning it down just a little and swapping the crazy 80s colors for more new age black white and silver color scheme ...and he bulked up...if it was a few years later after Vince bought WCW and Randy came back around the time Hogan did, that new look would have given him a extra 5 years or so to his career.....
My honest opinion…. I actually think this was a great match to say goodbye to two legends of their crafts, one legendary basketball player and one legendary wrestler. It felt like a crossover between two universes and Macho defending wrestling by defeating the non wrestler basketball player in Dennis Rodman whom I was a huge fan of since his Detroit days, but once he finally came here to Chicago my hometown and favorite team the Bulls, I was extremely happy and knew the Bulls were going to be an unstoppable force, and they definitely proved that, even in the end of their 1998 run when the Indiana Pacers almost beat them in the playoffs, they still managed to survive and beat the Pacers. Macho Man had nothing else to prove in my opinion, he was always the man when it came to wrestling, he always entertained.
Rodman to this day still reps the nwo..i met him at rge court house in new rochelle ny . I didnt ask why he was there but i got a autograph and spoke to him for a few minutes . What was his favorite team he played on meaning basketball team and he answered " nwo for life, baby"
We all know the woes of WCW near the end, but somehow the booking and build up to this match somewhat typifies all the things that were wrong with the promotion at the time. It really was a rudderless ship by this point
One of the reasons WCW went downhill in 99.... all their main eventers were over 40 years old. I remember that leaving WCW feeling really burned out at the time. Just an observation
Randy lived and died like a true badass and worked his ass off of to accomplish his goals, I wish he could have lived and enjoyed all the decades of hard work, which he was doing, Until the day he and his girlfriend were driving home in Tampa, when he had a heart attack, then running head on into a tree, to slow his jeep down. We will always remember the Macho Man. OOOooH Yea..
WCW and Macho Man will never be forgotten. And 100% of Roman Reigns’ offence today is punches and spears. What’s his excuse? Has he been old and injured his whole career?
You really hate WCW, don’t you? How even old was you when WCW was at its peek? WCW was an amazing promotion with many glorious memories that will forever be remembered. WWF have had just as many ridiculous and embarrassing flops over the years. If WWE hadn’t have sold off more and more shares, released more and more talent, hiked up ticket prices, did shows in more and more countries, took blood money from a country with no human rights to do shows there, and took money off Peacock to let them control and censor the WWE Network because of cancelled subscriptions, then WWE could’ve eventually gone under, because of their lowest ever ratings and attendances, on average, in recent years. I’d much rather re-watch Savage in WCW in 1999, than watch Reigns in WWE today.
I'll never understand why people always mispronounce "Iaukea". You say it like this: "Mac Key Mac Key". If you have trouble, go watch some old Jericho clips. He'll show you.
2002- Savage was supposed to wrestle Jarrett for the WWA title. Savage wanted to win the belt. Jeff said no, so Savage walked. 2004- Savage was supposed to wrestle Jarrett for the TNA title. And again he wanted to win the belt. And again Jeff said no. And again Savage walked.

Randy did pass the torch in one final match against an unlikely opponent.
And that opponent was SPIDER-MAN.
Bonesaw is ready!
CAGE!!!
Randy didn't pass the torch bonesaw did
Known best as Bully Maguire.
nah he passed the torch to David Arquette (ready to rumble)
Just makes me sad that Macho never got a true send-off

Objective and tastefully done.
Very well done and well written 👏
The quality of this is very nice
Sad that Savages career on the big stage ended with a whimper rather than a roar similar to the company he did it in
