Sean Waltman is awesome and I grew up watching him, both WWF/E and WCW. He truly made a name in wrestling and added to being a part of TNA Wrestling cemented his legacy.
Yeah for me it is the all-time number 1 Raw moment. Like the guy above said… That added to Austin’s win the night before, was the final turning point of the war indeed. Many people underestimate how huge that was, getting that iconic Kliq/NWO character back onto Raw. In the scheme of the “which show is actually the cooler place to be” factor, that meant everything.
So I need some help from my Cultaholic peeps, please. Something must be wrong with my calendar. It shows Sunday, February 27, 2022. But I swear that with Ross’ Straight to Hell episode, Jack’s True Story and now Sam’s War Stories… it MUST be Christmas Day. I have hit the jackpot today! A YUGE thank you to everyone at Cultaholic!! 👏🏼👏🏼 I swear you guys are the best there is, the best there was…. And the BEST there ever will be! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
His Raw return is another example of JRs natural brilliance. Most commentators would have done the stupid surprised "is that? Omg it is..." standard crap. JRs did it how a guy would do it. "Well, look whos back."
Wait, so Bischoff told the internet the day after X-PAC’s WWF return that ‘It didn’t make sense to keep one of their friends under contract.’ But 20 years later on his podcast tells Sean that it wasn’t in response to Hall & Nash? I think Eric is an important part of wrestling history, but damn dude, keep your stories straight. Just one of them lol
If only WCW knew how to book Cruiserweights and give them a proper chance, Sean Waltman would have been a great Upper Midcard heel for not just The N.W.O but WCW as a whole
Waltman was actually the ticket for the cruiserweights to become upper midcarders. Eric got lucky with the NWO but made dumb decisions with them from the start. Waltman would have been super valuable for WCW.
A few years of bad booking really did kill so much of Waltman’s momentum didn’t it? That intro gave me literal goosebumps, and is befitting of a worker of his caliber.
That's a fair point but when it comes to contract negotiations people like him take it very seriously because there could be legal implications in that.
I love watching Sean Waltmans shoot interviews lmfao. The guy was there for almost every major event lmfao. Shockmaster? X-Pac was there. Montreal? X-pac was there. WCW Buyout? X-Pac was there. Booker T calling Hulk Hohan the N word? X-Pac was there. Plane Ride From Hell? X-Pac was there. Sean Waltman was just everywhere lmfao.
The timing of so many events during the Monday Night Wars was just uncanny...like with Michaels going on the shelf after Mania 14..DX could have easily disbanded...or just consisted of HHH/Chyna and the Outlaws..but having Waltman available to fill that Michaels role proved invaluable
It is odd/lucky that Waltman was in WCW when they were on top and then back in WWF when they were on top. Conversely, Bret Hart was in WWF when they were losing and in WCW when they were losing.
Waltman said they were gonna "rip ass in the WWF" in that return promo in 1998 and it makes me laugh everytime i see it...where i come from rip ass means fart.
Oh my God! I was at that house show in Duluth, MN! I was all of 10 years old. I remember the Syxx-Luger match, but I had zero memory of the fact that Syxx disappeared from WCW right after that.
He's in twice with DX and nWo. He's stated he won't go in as a solo wrestler cause he has issues with public speaking. He was with a group during those two inductions.
Re-signing Waltman in a great spot really got people to believe wcw sucked. Way more than a wcw guy coming over he was a wwf guy who went to wcw and came back, jarret wasnt a big deal to get back and he left again too
It really was a shame that WCW turned out as it did, despite being a good competitor to the WWF at the time. While there could only be one true winner, I wish for a scenario where WCW remained as an alternative.
Waltman had no choice but to leave WWE in 96 because at the time WWE have wasn't paying top stars money like that and X-Pac was the shit and he was a vital part of the nwo in the early stages so he was with WCW for almost 3 years making bank but then he got injured in 97 and you know how Bischoff was with injured people he was quick to fire people if they got hurt because it was all hand's on deck, his second WWE run was the way better until 01-02 which was a shame he could have been ic champion
Even if he wasn't getting paid money in WWE he could have stuck it out like the rest of the other wrestlers did. Instead of our man Johnson and goldust becoming ic champions in 1996 or 97 it would have been the one two three kid as ic champion
If there is one thing I have to address about Mr. Waltman's career on both sides is that he def was underrated! Tag Team, Cruiserweight, Light Heavyweight and member of both nWo and DX. Honestly that is badass.
