I've just moved to London from California, so I'm hoping that my tinnitus may disappear after my body adjusts to this new climate (it seems to be much fainter on warm days), but I want to prepare some coping techniques in case this is something that persists. It's been very distressing at night, so I appreciate people willing to offer advice and some comfort. :)

I'm on day 4 with ringing in my left ear. I dont notice it unless it's quiet. I just turned 21 and bought a gun but forgot to buy ear muffs and really wanted to shoot it so I did. Later that day I noticed it. Hasnt gone away. I thought this was something caused by a lifetime of loud noises. I didn't think 1 box of ammo would do this. Just know it doesnt take much to hurt your ears. Then you'll beat yourself for being so excited you couldn't wait 30 min and go buy ear muffs, instead youll probably never hear silence again in your life. Take care of your ears.

Excellent! Thank you again, dear Mr. Hill. I agree with all you say here. I find it best to go to sleep when I feel tired enough, and to allow my body to feel the comfort of the bed, and to just let happy scenes and thoughts drift by. Some nights it takes a bit longer than others. I have always had "sleep issues" as a very sensitive person, so this is not really new to me, but there are plenty of times I drop right off to sleep, with no aids of any kind.
I feel it as "allowing" my body to simply rest, and to feel the comfortable bed. I've had tinnitus for a year and a half, but it was only a real problem for me in the first 9-12 months, and even then, not every day. Now there are many days I do not have tinnitus, it has just gone, no longer part of my experience, or my body. On the days I do notice it, it is so much more like a natural part of me, not really bothersome.
The only time I feel that I have tinnitus and am somewhat bothered by it are the times when I am already stressed and at the same time focusing on listening for some phantom sounds, and "measuring" the tinnitus, or checking it. That is a very anxious-type thing to do, so it does not surprise me that I then hear it more, and am bothered by it then. Most of the time I am living my life, having dropped the need to "check in" to the tinnitus, or to even acknowledge having it at all. It's as if it has ceased to interest me much at all.

Julian I got a question? Can a tooth infection cause tinnitus

    • @sparkymahoney4343
      @sparkymahoney4343 7 років тому +8

Yes it can. It caused my T by spiking my blood pressure and causing something called "intracranial hypertension". In short your BP collapses part of your proximal transverse sinus - this is the main artery by which blood drains from the head, and guess where it runs by? That's right, right beside the ear. So the collapse causes the BP to elevate and the artery and your ear to vibrate, and that's known as "pulsatile tinnitus" (look it up). Good news is it can be fixed by a Neurologist. If it's not IIH it can also be cause by damage to the TM or CN nerve in the jaw - repairable by an Oral Surgeon. That's also a form of somatic tinnitus caused by the bacterial infection in the tooth. The body always wants to heal itself so in order to do that it has to push a lot more blood into the head and jaw than normal and that elevates your BP and CSF again causing pulsatile tinnitus. A lot of the time it'll clear up by itself after several weeks to several months when the damage heals, so try not to get to stressed about it even though it's really annoying. I'm going through the same thing myself right now. I'm just lucky enough to know about this stuff. :) Good luck, friend.

@@platogenova9573 to a degree. Mostly in the way that I got used to it. I went through a bunch of non conventional therapies (acupuncture, detox, mindfulness meditation) since conventional medicine told me to get lost and only offered antidepressants as an alternative to nothing at all. I have much better days every now and then and worse days, when ringing is very annoying. But worse days are fewer. The ringing is always there though. Funny thing: the audiologist who examined me has exactly same situation. She got tinnitus 2 days after her second vaccine and got a 30% hearing loss in her left ear. Now she is wearing a hearing aid. My hearing loss is “only” 15% it turned out. I also met a dozen of people who got tinnitus and hearing loss after their COVID vaccine. It is extremely common it seems.. and yeah, I just recovers from covid. It was worse this time than the first time, but only the cough part. Both times I had it very light. Having COVID did not cure me of tinnitus, as i hoped it maybe would 😄

Dear Julian Sir just by watching your videos or listening to your soothing voice i feel relaxed. My nerves feel calm. I'm from India and a big fan of yours. I have been searching all about tinnitus since the time my tinnitus started almost 2 yrs back and I can say that your channel is the most genuine one helping people without much hype or trying to extract money all in the name of giving treatment. Thanks once again sir.

I am glad I found this hearing loss solution “fetching kamkam site” (Google it) for my grandmother. It is such an exciting thing seeing her able to hear better and it makes her enjoy her day to the fullest as she could communicate with her peers exceptionally better also.

Do you know about Neuro Cranial Restructuring? I have been looking into it and it seems very promising for tinnitus.

i need to know if tinnitus sounds include pounding/thumping that sound like it's coming from outside my house not in my head. i have static that i know is tinnitus and is definitely in my head but i believe the pounding, is not in sync with my heartbeat, from research that i could be hearing a different frequency due to hearing loss. please any help.

    Hello Julian,
Thank you for helping me. I'm glad I have found you on UA-cam. I'm much calmer now.......and I'm working hard to stop my tinnitus.
9 years ago I fell of my horse, and have a spasms on my right eye, and since that I have tinnitus. And now a few weeks a go I have a rigging on my left ear. I no....... I have to calm down! Because Sometimes i want to be perfect en listen to negative en noisy people. "Dam" 😉
So I hope with my yin yoga and massages it will help! I live for almost 3 years on a farm with my dog cat and sheep.
And they will help me a lot! So thank you again for posting your video's! A big hug and greets from Holland.

Hello from Germany! I agree pets help to calm mind and tinnitus. We have chicken and a bold rooster: just watching them and my mind calms down

I recommend having craniosacral therapy or hands-on work to help process the reaction to the operation. If you watch my app www.quietenapp.com/ and follow the techniques and approaches there you will get on the road to recovery. This will help you understand how this condition works and what helps it get better. If you need on-line support please get in touch here: info@juliancowanhill.co.uk Hope this helps. Best wishes Julian

Salam to you too. If you listen to the information you’ll start to understand that this is not a fixed or permanent condition. Once you get your head around how it works and you have a good support network in place and you know how to shift the focus from being anxious about your hearing into something calming and soothing then you can make a good recovery. Please download the app Quieten and I think you can learn a lot from there. I hope it helps you. Best wishes Julian

@@JulianCowanHill I almost got into a car accident and blasted my music for 5 seconds on max. Plus some neck and jaw tension. Will cranial sacral therapy help me? The audiologist also said I had a lot of wax. They took it out a almost two weeks ago though

Well put, an approach that is often overlooked. breath work is also useful as a tool for dealing with Tinnitus during the night. A technique I find particularly promising is to gradually slow the breathing, and closely observing the effect the breathing practice has.this has a twofold effect,1) it directs attention away fro the sound that characterizes the tinnitus, 2) it promotes a gradual, gentle state of relaxation which, more often than-not, will lead to a restful sleep.
