    You have litterally just stopped my tinnitus just by watching this video, so thank you! I've been so up tight this week with terrible heath anxiety. You told me that heightened sences cause tinnitus, and your right! I've sat here massaging my face and neck for the whole length of the video, you made me feel safe, and the ringing stopped, I hope it continues. Amazing Julian, thank you :)

    This is a helpful vid. Tinnitus is highly complex and there’s no one fix for all solution. The nervous system is a big proponent.

    I thought that tinnitus was normal for everybody. I didn't even know it was a thing until one night I said to my husband, 'you know when it's all quiet and there is that ringing in your ears' I totally forget where I was going with it, but he says to me 'what are you talking about, that is not normal, I don't have ringing in my ears' Since this realization I googled it, and found tinnitus. And it has gotten worse! I wish I had kept my mouth shut, I was perfectly happy with it for 40 years thinking everybody had it, now that my brain knows its not normal it turned up the volume, and oh my god, i can't stand it anymore! I need to watch these videos daily now, hoping it will get better.

Amazing how something so simple can make you feel wonderful! The little things really do add up.

    I got used to it. After maybe 3 or 4 yrs it became the bottom of the important pile. Now I get days when I don’t even notice it. Its so true; a state of anxiety can cause an unbearable state which is Fing stupid; an absolute waste of time.
    Tinnitus is not about the noise, it’s about being a calm person.
    If I’m a stressed man and I think about the noise it will become the centre of all my problems, yet I get 98% of days where I don’t think about it at all, AT ALL...learn to relax, learn to relax.

I totally believe in coaching and getting help but with the heart really wanting to help people. Your intentions are pure. I love this video because it helps empower us to take action and realize we have to heal ourselves but we have to do certain things to get there and it is not pie in the sky philosophy. Julian you have solved my anxiety connection to tinittus. Ty!!!! my tinnitus has not gone away but has gotten manageable.
    Honest truth , after listening to your video I applied my palms and back of my hands down the side of my cheeks, yawned, rubbed my scalp Immediately after wards the anxiety danger feeling was gone I can’t believe it. Anxiety was absolutely terrible for about a week. I could do nothing to help while my nerves were on fire, ears were red and head was pressured. I had tinnitus for 6 weeks causing sensitivity to loud sound hyperacusis then this week the 7th week that sensitivity went away and the anxiety kicked in, being anxious of having a panic attack and hyperacusis coming back dreading going to bed worrying it would flare up.
    U still have mild flare of tinnitus but no more anxiety! Thanks Julian

    Hi Julian, great words as usual you are such a help to us all. I thank you for getting me through the darkest days of my life through your videos on here, answering my emails and skyping. I haven't been on here for about 3 months, I have been getting on with my life.....Tinnitus has faded more and more all the time, Im having longer and longer without noticing it, it really is true. There is a however though, so however, recently, the last 10 days has been quite bad, very loud and intrusive again, more so than in a long time, almost like it was at the beginning, I want tithing this is just a spike and that it will pass BUT I went to a circus in a big top and it was VERY loud! I didn't have any ear protection in and this is why I am on here, I am REALLY worried that I have permanently damaged my ears and that this TERRIBLE noise is now never going to go, almost like I will never get a second chance.............Im so sad.
    I have been so cautious when going to loud venues/concerts etc and always used musicians ear plugs as most people to do with tinnitus recommend. But I have recently been going to see a new audiologist and he has a theory and seems to know a LOT about tinnitus so I trusted him. He said.....my hearing loss is a high frequency hearing loss and he did a VERY thorough hearing test and the sounds that I can't hear are almost exactly the same as my tinnitus sounds, he says that my brain has gone into fight or flight mode "looking" for this sound, that it has created this sound itself, in my head. Therefore, the hearing aids he gave me will give me back these "missing" sounds and put the tinnitus "back in the box it came out of" because my brain (me) will relax and stop seeking this noise.....This all made sense to me. However, he also said not to "pussy foot" round my hearing and not to be over protective of it so if I went to the odd loud concert there was no need to wear hearing protection and that I should let my ears do the job they are meant to do, this also made sense, which is why I didn't wear any 10 days ago at the circus!
    I want to add that the hearing aids did seem to make a difference to my tinnitus, they allowed me to hear much better and clearer than before and my tinnitus seemed to be getting better.
    So sorry for such a long post but I just wondered what you or any of the other tinnitus community on here thought about all of this???
    If anyone has anything negative to say about my situation please keep it to yourself and don't post on here as I don't think I could take it. Only positive replies please.
    Thank you in advance xx

I have experienced 2 days of it backing off completely then i had a deep tissue massage ( should of done soft tissue massage) which has my body tense and sore and me stressing if it will come back because i had 2 days of silence, yes it came back quite high but its quieting down again.

    I think got tinnitus from either an incident where a particle entered my ear and perforated my ear drum , however then a few days later I hit my head on a garage door quite hard... maybe due to balance issues and judgement. All I know is now I have tinnitus on my left ear but I’ve also noticed when I look up I get a whooshing sound on my left side of my head, like I’m hearing the blood flow similar to a yawn.. is this something you have come across? I don’t get it on the right side of my head.

    Thank you so much for this video Julian. I’m reading your book at the moment. I have been thinking 💭 when you say not to listen to people who say it’s not possible to get better. If on one hand, as you say, this message can cause hopelessness it also puts you in a position where you have to say “right, i have this now, there’s nothing i can do to change it so I can dwell in desperation or start accepting it and learn to live with it”. If i believe it’s possible to get better then my mind starts racing about ways to heal it, researching all possible causes and all possible cures, things that i have to do and try out, therefore i put myself in a lot of stress. Does it make sense? I’m in this kind of loop at the moment...
    Do you think tinnitus is always he result of a stress response? Even when it could be the result of inner ear or systemic illnesses? I think i’m still looking for what caused it for me hoping to make it go away...
    Thanks julian

    • @Langsuyar84
      @Langsuyar84 5 років тому +6

      I thought about the same dilemma. I'm in this loop right now. I refuse to accept that I might have tinnitus for the rest of my life, but at the same time, my mother already had tinnitus for 14 years. But I'm much more resourceful and stubborn than she is and she almost immediatly accepted the doctors idea that she is stuck for life. I don't think I am, because I also had tinnitus in 2016 and it went away completely. I think that can happen again, but I'm still not 100% sure if the sound is coming from my brain or something else, like my arteries. At the moment I'm focusing on releasing tension. I've gone back the gym, I'm starting with yoga, I use a sauna from time to time and I've changed my sleeping rythm and diet completely. The tinnitus is about 80% better but I want it to go away completely. I fear that constantly trying too hard to force it away is what is actually keeping it there.

    Hi Julian. My tinnitus seems to react when watching TV, but for some strange reason it doesn’t react to the likes of listening to the radio. Is there chance I have a mild form of hyperaccusis?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Рік тому +1

      Our relationship with different sources of sound has a huge impact on how we process them. If you are happy and relaxed, listening to the radio and have no negative associations, then this will probably be a positive experience. With the television, I would try and settle yourself down first maybe doing yoga or the boat mass meditation on my app which you will find on level four techniques www.quietenapp.com so that you can focus and settle yourself before you expose yourself to the TV. Once you have established a positive relationship with watching TV, then your hearing sensitivity is likely to settle. Hope this makes sense.

    I went to see Jonathon Hazel in the 80"s and wasn't impressed..when he talks about "the body " and the working parts in the brain..he's referring to normal fit people..not people who have had 2 hours crap sleep for 3 months..exposing these type of people to gradual sound exposure..is not what they want.. they need rest sleep recuperation recharge convalesencing recovery time...THEN you can talk habituation..he says that the places we live are too quiet with there double glazed windows and cavity wall insulation..and people struggling don't need this kind of quiet...sorry they do..it's not like it's an anachoeic chamber within a suspended room where u can hear the blood moving around your body..he also said all those people (and what a cross section they were) were all imagining the worldwide hum.. wrong again I'm afraid..as for his protege Jacky Shelkdrake..she had the worst reviews I'd ever seen ever..7/ 8 grand for this tinnitus retraining is a nonsense..a guy I know a Mr Eric Coulter told me that he'd spent many thousands with him and he did SFA for him..and he got more help from a book for 50p in a jumble sale....a God he is not.

    Hello Julian. Would you recommend acupuncture?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  3 роки тому +3

      Yes absolutely. I think all body-based therapies are helpful for tinnitus. It's best to find someone you trust who is convenient to get to and who helps you switch off, rebalance, let go and relax deeply. Craniosacral therapy is a good therapy to start off with, if it exists near you.

      Julian Cowan Hill hello. Thanks. I have found a place locally for cranio. I will give it a try.

      Julian Cowan Hill can you get better with children? Heard that the stresses with children just stop any progression. Mine are certainly challenging 😂

    I doubt this will apply to most people reading this but do not smoke weed if you have tinnitus. Quit now if that is the case.

      I'm heartbroken. I sing Julian's praises to everyone, and have followed his channel for over two years, since I got tinnitus. I left a comment on his other recent video, asking enthusiastically if he had heard of lens neurofeedback for help with tinnitus because I am exploring that here in the U.S., and I am curious if he has heard of that in use in London. He didn't reply for weeks, then I just checked and seems my entire comment had been deleted! Wow, really Julian? How hurtful. It was a friendly, conversational comment, just asking him something. He could have just said "Sorry, never heard of it" or "sorry, I have no experience with that, though I've heard of it". But to just ignore it and delete it? I'm really kind of shocked he did that. :((((

      FB I wouldn't take the lack of response personally . Also comments can disappear from You Tube for a number of reasons . Many therapists and other health professionals putting videos up certainly wouldn't have the time to read or answer every comment posted . I think we can follow the helpful advice without feeling people owe us personal attention . Yes it would be nice if they could give us that but maybe they are just too busy .
