  • As the temperatures here in southwestern Ontario dip below freezing, we start testing electric vehicles to see how they perform differently, including this 2024 Honda Prologue Touring AWD.

This week on TestDrive Nile spends some time with the 2024 Honda Prologue Touring AWD, the fully-loaded trip for Honda's first fully electric vehicle in North America. We go over some of the important details about this EV including it sharing the GM Ultium platform with the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Acura ZDX, along with the motor specifications and how they compare to the Chevrolet. We discuss the exterior design and features of this mid-size electric crossover before hitting the road to go over our findings during sub-zero temperatures.
First up is energy efficiency, and how the overall range has dipped with the colder weather. We also talk about how it compares to the other electric vehicles we've driven recently, and why you may want to consider the Prologue when shopping for a new car. We go over the performance, drive, ride, and handling of this vehicle, along with our thoughts on the overall package Honda is offering with this vehicle.

I hope the seat warmers work.

They did, they were fine. I feel the heated seats on the 2024 Pathfinder I have as a long-term unit warm up almost instantly, and even on the lowest setting are too warm for me after a few minutes.

@PRNTestDrive I drive a 2025 Toyota Crown Signia; neither the steering wheel heater nor the seat heaters are very strong. Previously drove a Mazda CX90 which warmed up nicely. Luckily I live in Memphis where it rarely gets very cold. My wife is in Montreal presently where it is about -15°C...that's cold!

Nice looking vehicle---is this not a re-badged Cadillac?

More like a re-badged Chevrolet Blazer, but yes the Cadillac Lyriq and Acura ZDX are all using this configuration of the Ultium platform.

Why do you use km/kwh, instead of kwh/100km?

That’s what GM’s software reports efficiency in, there’s no way to change it in the system. We discuss both in the video.

Wait, is it $72,000 CAD? That's like $50,000 USD - so we do get the better deal

With our dollar slipping all the time that certainly seems to be the case.

We've had alarms we can set to the minute in phones and tablets for over a decade, and they can't schedule charging in less than 15 minute increments? And it doesn't seem to work even when you do schedule it?
OTOH is Chevrolet take Android Auto out of their future offerings, I'll never buy one of those.
How is it so hard for these companies to give the public what we want, if they want to sell us their products?

The software on this and the other GM Ultium EVs is very clunky. For me this EV is a miss. It's ok at best, or for people who live in moderately constant climates where scheduling/pre-conditioning isn't as important. If every day were 20ºC with no snow ever, I might consider this.
