The cloth interior will last longer than leather on higher trims also full metal roof is a winner no worries about cracks/chips or hailstones busting through or leaks from seals lol. Also the front wheel drive will have less cv axles to replace/repair and more range. If the dealer got one id trade current one for that tbh save money and have better car tbh. base models more rare, but they are better in alot of ways people dont realize actually weigh less so better mpge/mpg also and just less crap to gizmos to break. if you intend to keep the car and not just a lease this is what i would do personally.
I like having physical controls for climate, windshield wipers and such (not to mention gear shift, turn signals). I also like having a small driver display, rather than having to take my eyes off the road and look off center to check my speed. Maybe I’m old, but I just prefer not having everything in one screen, buried in levels of menus. So the Prologue seems right up my alley.
I have a Honda and it just charged like 10 miles in 30 mins. I have a 240v charger. It does charger slower the higher it gets. But they recommend keeping it between 20 and 80%. It will charger to 80% by 4 am if I plug it in at 8 pm from like 20%. So that’s not bad.
I've had my Prologue touring AWD for a couple of weeks. It's my first EV. I really like it. It's plenty fast, quiet and handles just fine. Not a fan of the GM sounds and the horn honking instead of beeping to let you know things like getting out with the car on. Also not a fan of the piano black (why do they still put this in cars!?) I installed a chargepoint level 2 charger hardwired into my panel. I am not sure I would own a non Tesla as my only vehicle due to the wonky charging infrastructure especially here in the PNW. Lots on the west side but not so much east of the mountains. We have my wife's cr-v hybrid for trips out of town. I like that it's more or less like a traditional car. Not super great looking but not ugly or weird looking. Lots of controls that are NOT only in the touchscreen which is the main reason I would not buy a tesla. For now it's just day to day driving around town which is perfect for my use case. Maybe once superchargers are available I will take it further out of town.
I've had a Prologue Elite for 3+ months and 4,000 miles now, and I have to say I agree with everything you said in this video (not something I can usually say about UA-cam videos from car folks). I traded in my '22 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (which I had for about 5 months) for the Prologue, and the only thing I regret about the move is the low trade-in value I got for the Ioniq. I like the ground clearance and the fact that this car sits higher than the Ioniq (my last ICE daily driver was a CR-V Hybrid), I like the generous passenger space (I'm a big guy) and I like ride and handling. I do a lot of driving on two-lane highways and the 288hp gives me plenty of confidence when passing. As a 60-something older guy who has driven ICE cars for 40+ years, the Prologue is the perfect EV. Maybe not the best EV, but the best EV for me. Thanks for the video. I've subscribed to your channel and will look for more great content from you. But, you know, no pressure.
I really appreciate this sincere insight. I am glad you found some value in my video. I’ll try the best I can to meet your expectations going forward. Many thanks for the feedback
The Google built in makes it easy to recommend Honda Prologue (or Acura ZDX) for the first time EV driver. Google built in shows your arrival SOC and adds charging stops which are optimized to be at the faster stations along your route. I’ve now spent almost 3000 miles road tripping this system in Prologue and ZDX and it’s proven in my experience to be simple and conservative, again what a first time EV owner needs.
A long one - but content warranted it. Really appreciated. Highly informative video and your constant change of tempo and use of graphics makes viewing easy. Nice job.
@@Aslash304The effort you put into all your videos short or long is hugely appreciated and I’m sure we don’t fully realise the commitment it takes. Informative and entertaining - simply stellar. Thanks.
2:50 You have to hold the seat memory button. Set your seat memory, then move it slightly, and press and hold it until the seat is set where it should be. Confused the hell outta my in my Dad's 2020 Chevy Silverado High Country, too.
for the seat memory, once you set it, you have to just hold down. So if you're driver #2, you have to hold 2 down until it moves into the memorized position. It's not press it once and it moves into that position.
In my prologue I set the seat where I want it then I press set and then I press the number for the driver one or two. That sets the memory. Unfortunately it does not auto recall the memory for each driver you have to hold the button for the driver that you are until it finishes moving
I'll disagree - the Tesla Model Y is not the best car and I can argue that all day long. Part of the thing Honda NAILED is the styling - my wife hated every other EV because, like Tesla, they look like a Space Ship. "I don't want to drive a space ship. I want a smart SUV that happens to be electric."
The Prologue looks way better. The Model Y has sentry mode, lane centering, supercharger access, dog mode, bioweapon defense mode, phone as key, more horsepower, and more range. Everyone pays the price that’s advertised for the Tesla, the seats are more comfortable, there are driver profiles (steering wheel and seats) that automatically adjust when you open the door, it charges at 250kW, and it’s cheaper. The Prologue is better looking, for sure. But, as an owner of both, it’s hard to argue that the Prologue is better.
Just leased a Pacific Blue Prologue Elite. I think this video really covers alot. Great Job! Also, that retro comment/thought process is spot on. I remember the old Accord from when I was at Honda with my Dad buying my XR75 dirtbike and thinking, wow, they sell cars too?! This is our 7th Honda car (10th honda vehicle). Never even though about the fact that they didn't want to build an EV. Regardless of all the GM contributions/platform, this feels like a Honda in spirit.
The seat memory actually works when you press and hold the button (which I think is less than ideal) . I also thought the camera was pretty high resolution and a few of the features you described as being absent are actually in my car (power folding mirrors for example). This was a great video though and I think most of those differences are because I have the Elite package. I was able to get a PHENOMENAL deal on a lease. So far, my wife and I love it and it's likely because it's our first EV and doesn't feel radically different from our previous ICE cars. Thanks for making the video!
Much appreciated! I do think the mirrors fold on the Elite only, and since the making of this video, I have figured out how to hold the seat memory to change it. Thanks so much for the valuable feedback, and for watching! Here to many more happy Honda EV miles!
110v = 3 miles per hour. No matter mu bolt or tesla. 220v in my bolt is 25 miles per hour with a 40 amp "Oven cable" install. If you have a "dryer cable" install, you will get 12 miles per hour. The thing I like about the Prologue versus the blazer is the door is not a wonky dropping door that you know will stick later in life. Also Honda has android auto
After years of watching the "other guys" for vehicle reviews, your review of the Prologue truly helped me make an EV buying decision. Thank You. ALSO, the Prologue is the only Ultium product with amber rear turn signals. With Apple Car Play, this EV is perfect for me. I'm excited!
I haven’t finished watching all of this video - but bless you for the Slow Res Chart - I’ve been trying to get my head around 800v architecture EV and the limitations with different charger stalls for the duration I’ve had my GV60 RWD nearly 2 years and you with your Slow Res Chart have finally made it all make sense. Thanks.
So looking to lease a prologue touring. The deal is $222 for 27mo $4500 down. This is for my daughter who is currently in a 2015 cr-v exl. I want her in a safer car. Your video scares me a bit for the charging. I have a Tesla model 3 and love the charging network and simplicity of travel. Will we hate this car?
No, you’ll like it. I came from a Model Y, and I love it. There are a couple things it’s not quite as good at, and a couple missing features, but it makes up for it by being cool. It’s big. Like really big. That’s the major difference between it and the Model Y. Also, It can use the supercharger, too. Just not all of them. Video here: ( ua-cam.com/video/bcT2dexC6i0/v-deo.htmlsi=1O1O175T2BafyERa ) And as far as charging, 10-80% is about 37 minutes, instead of 27 from a Model Y. That’s a good deal for the lease.
I too got a prologue. After testing out the Model 3 and Y, I settled on the Honda. I didn't purchase, but leased. For a gateway EV, it's the best option for me. My first big test is a 3000+ mile roadtrip in WA, ID, UT, CO, and AZ. Some spots are few and far as far as chargers, but so far the mileage range estimates are off, and I believe I can maximize the range.
@@Aslash304 Well my roadtrip cut short. The Prologue started giving me service brake system and other braking warnings on the dash, disc braking not working right, so I brought it into the dealer. There's another on there for 44 days that needs a new master cylinder. Mine has 1804 miles on it. Just a heads up.....looking at some forums seems the Chevy blazer may have the same issue too.
Thank you so much for this video. I’m on the fence for a commuter and your video was the best one I’ve seen. I’m on that “not going to wreck” mentality and for nearly all the reasons too. Cheers
@Aslash304 Found more value than just that. With the new lease deal, evaluating if the Prologue would be suitable as a replacement for our Kia Soul EV.
Tbh I would’ve considered the prologue if it was a hybrid. Instead of a full EV. I think personally with a hybrid they could’ve gotten almost the same mpgs and people would’ve considered buying them way more. Because they could’ve made it a plug in hybrid as well.
16:00 Great owner interview. Cool that folks gawked at his car just for the color. Nice color. It looks like Ford's grabber blue. You're right. It doesn't look like an EV because it doesn't have recessed door handles.
Thanks Adam, that's a lot to take in, especially when trying to compare with the Blazer EV. There are a lot of similarities, but also plenty of differences. I'd like to see a side by side comparison at some time. I'm on the West coast and got the Blazer EV because they took my Fisker Ocean in trade and gave me a deal I couldn't refuse, just the day before the Note holder called Fisker's loan.
Sounds like you got a pretty good deal getting out, especially compared to others. I’ll see if I can track down a Blazer EV and look side by side. I know there are changes for ‘25. I appreciate you sharing your story. And thanks a lot for watching!
Adam, I think there was recent court activity in Delaware re Fisker. And Magna International CEO Swamy Kotagiri said the company is unlikely to open a contract manufacturing plant like the one it has in Austria. I guess this is the one in AZ.
Thanks for the prologue content. I just leased one last week and experienced my first problem today. I turned the car off and walked away and later noticed after 5 minutes the DRL was still on. I went back and shut them off on the screen and locked the door and walked away and they turned back on. The third time they finally stayed off. Have you had this issue. Am I missing something here?
The seat memory on my Prologue Elite works great. Perhaps the feature is set to "off", or you're not allowing the seat in your profile? Also, the color you show for the Elite if the orange/gray is an OPTION. You can get it in two-tone dark gray, light gray/dark gray, or orange/gray.
LMAO I got sidetracked 17:44 watching your friend eat a snack 18:09 in the reflection of the screen. Ps. the description of charging was extremely helpful.
Great discussion on the Prologue. Can you discuss reliability in light of the General Motors problems with this platform in their Blazer. Would you recommend leasing the Prologue as a hedge against reliability, service availability and long term durability problems? I understand Honda is abandoning its relationship with General Motors and this car in 2025. Thank you. I test drove a Prologue yesterday; liked it but have concerns.
If you can get a good deal on a lease, then that’s something to consider. The software issues that resulted in a stop sale of the Blazer have been fixed. Finally, if you’re concerned about reliability, don’t buy any 1st generation car.
Mine stays on too. When I turn it on. But if I turn it off, it stays off the next time time I drive. I was trying to convey this. I apologize if I didn’t do it well
Good review of the good and bad. It seems car makers seem to be caught up in the technology/toy department. It seems impossible to just jump in and drive. First you have set up all your options, figure out how the dam screen menus work or don't work. Interior options are limited to black and grey, and there are so many buttons on the steering wheel that you have to look down to see which one to push. Worst of all is the talking navigation, which sometimes works great, other times not so great.
Thanks for the feedback. Totally agree with the sentiment on the GPS. For the avoidance of doubt, my 2012 Toyota RAV4 has 2 fewer buttons on the steering wheel than the Prologue. Following distance and driver Display configuration are the only differences. This is a 10 year old car layout that happens to run on electricity.
Pulled into Honda to check out the CR-V hybrid interior and dang near broke my neck looking at the Prologue parked next to us. I quipped out loud that it "looks like a Range Rover". Slightly. Here is why my family will get one: - EV tax credit makes it a nice price - This is literally the only way to get my wife into an EV. This will be her vehicle and she usually doesn't like them, but having the Honda name helps out a lot. - Lending to that previous like, it has physical buttons. We both appreciate that. The screens are of normal proportion and shape, not some massive, ordering-a-McGriddle-size-and-orientation, tablet. The tablet thing is AWFUL. What I don't like as much: - It's a GM. To be fair, GM has been doing EVs for some time and that could be a pro. If this was Honda doing it themselves, guaranteed there would be more quirks. It makes sense for a variety of reasons that Honda went this route. If it's a flaming turd they can just point the finger at GM. I don't have any indicators that it is so far.
No. Honda Won’t include one. I also use Tesla Chargers at home. This is the amazon link to the adapter I bought that will allow your Tesla Charger to work. a.co/d/7vQaDtG ( or Google: Lectron Tesla to J1772 adapter )
One little thing to add. I’m not sure if you mentioned that it has normal door handles. Something I try not to care about but I do. For future content you could compare it more to the Blazer EV. I like the way the Elite trim of the Prologue is packaged, GM is doing some odd things with the Blazer, at least with the 2024. If you watch reviews of this car GM gets a lot of hate and Honda a lot of anger for working with them. But my worry is with Honda, not GM. GM seems all in to me, the only reason I’d choose the Blazer over the Honda is I’m not sure if Honda is committed. I think one exception to your Japan not being into EVs is Nissan. The Ariya is a good car, that started out too expensive and with some mediocre specs. You can tell Nissan put some love into it. I’m a Toyota fan and I agree that Toyota’s EVs were designed to not sell and prove the point that EVs are not ready from prime time. Toyota couldn’t help but make the BZ4X a car that was reliable to get from point a to b short distances but you can tell they didn’t want to make it. Thanks for the review.
Unfortunately, I purchased this car, and intend to own it. Because of that, I won’t run the battery to zero. I’ll be more than happy to do a range test for my next video. But I’ll do a mathematical calculation based on a 90% drain ( 100-10% ) because running a battery to zero is really not good for the battery. Look for it soon
Yes. This video was published before the superchargers were opened up. I made a video to illustrate ua-cam.com/video/bcT2dexC6i0/v-deo.htmlsi=FfArDCDZO_rs6tm7
So glad I stuck with my Honda CRV sport touring hybrid instead of going with the Prologue. I LOVE the way it looks but hate all the bads you mentioned, many of which (No lane centering and wonky memory seats) are real deal breakers. Also Piano black is a huge nono in interior design.
@@Aslash304 This is true. The moment Honda makes a completely Honda SUV in jumping in! In the meantime, if I wanted a GM product I'd just go with the Lyriq.
I just switched from a CRV Hybrid Touring to the Prologue Elite and the only issue that bugs me is the lack of LKAS... but I'm willing to live with it because of all the other benefits. Seat memory works just fine on my Prologue.
I have a MY LR and will soon be in the market for a second vehicle. We''ve always driven Hondas and I was hopeful that the Prologue would seem promising. Seems like a decent car, but this crapshoot of a charging situation, with no real fast charging, is an absolute deal breaker. Is it like that with most non-Tesla EVs? Or is this just a Honda Prologue thing.
@@krisbrown04 this is how it works. The ionic 5 and EV 6 have decent charging also. However, other than a Porsche Taycan, or a hummer EV, this is just how it is.
What I can’t seem to find out is if it come with a heated steering wheel? Or is that on just the Elite trim? I can’t seem to find anything about it which makes me worried that it’s not even an option!
From 10%-20%, it’s $15-$35 depending on where you are in the US and what network you’re using. For example, EVGo credits are available for the Prologue, making those sessions free. I can only hope he has AAA after he discovers his fake "Honda" can't be charged on road trips in the US. Should you disagree, drive on any major interstates between large cities and see how many non-Tesla's you see ... essentially zero. It's been estimated that of the public CCS chargers in the US, approx. 95 to 98% are either broken, removed, or vandalized. What could be more useless than a car you can't reliably charge on a road trip. I just saw a dead Rivian today on I-45 that couldn't find a working charging station. Gosh, what a surprise ... I wonder what UA-cam video convinced him to buy something you can't drive very far from home. Got my Cyber truck yesterday and drove to NOLA easily from Houston .... try that in ANY other EV. My buddy drives regularly from Texas to Cali and back and has NEVER had a charging issue. A couple of weeks ago, I ran into a lady with an brand-new paper-plated VW ID4 at a Bucky's that had spent three hours driving around at 15mph, calling everywhere for help and was out of charge. Eventually, she called a tow truck as I advised since the car was blocking an exit. I asked her she didn't buy a Tesla ... she said a "genius VW owner" on UA-cam told her this was the best EV ever! I just looked at her, unplugged from the Supercharger and left her sitting by her broken-down VW BEV. On any long road trip, you can substitute the word Honda for that VW ... that is what awaits you ... don't get conned.

The fob isn't printed with a number on it, but there is a 1 and 2 fob. My memory started working when I programmed my position for both fobs... so try that. It tells you on the dash when you powerup which driver position is being used.
Hi Adam. Ok I need your help making a decision. I love my Honda Accord Touring Hybrid. I'm a life long Honda owner with a few "experiments" along the way. I am considering the Prologue and this would be my first EV so I don't know what I don't know. I live in Dallas and will never drive this car outside of Dallas. No road trips of any kind, we have another car that we would use for roundtrips if I trade in my Accord Hybrid and purchase the Prologue. I work from home, kids are graduated from high school/college, I do very limited driving. Sadly, I probably only leave the house a couple times a week. Question, if I install the level 2 charger in my home, I will ever have a need to charge the Prologue outside of my home will I?
"EV 80quitte" is another big reason these won't catch on as a total replacement for ICE. It's one thing when it's a bunch of snooty tech bros who are all "in the know" about EV and charging etiquette, and entirely different thing when every asshole feels the need to charge at 50% when they're just 10 miles from home.
I haven’t been late for anything since I got one. Every time I leave where I am I either have enough charge to get where I’m going, or I’ve planned my route that sets aside time to charge.
This proves that for road tripping, you need a Tesla. But I agree with people that say Tesla's have an appearance problem. Does that mean the EVs in general that look...normal, are simply not a good road trip vehicles?
A 2 Liter at a convenience store is $5. It’s $1.49 at the grocery store. A few minutes of planning and an EV becomes the $1.49 option. If you don’t plan, you continue to pay $5.00 (gasoline). I’ll prove the Prologue is a perfectly good roadtrip vehicle in an upcoming video. From the largest DC fast charging desert in the eastern United States.
The thing that was super intriguing about the Ocean was how unique it was/is. It isn't like anything else, that was the attraction. Guys like me who own unique cars, 92 BMW 850i, Delorean, BMW i3, we like things that you don't see everyday. I would never buy a Tesla as I see 2-3 every mile in Scottsdale, AZ. So, that's where my head and car cash is at.
What a stupid way to get around. Imagine everyone trying to get electric charges What then? Have you ever been in a stop freeway for hours everyone exiting to get electricity Daddddd

The engineer said he was a Honda and Toyota guy. I said just do the research and buy what you want.
Correct. I owned exclusively Honda as well, until they decided to stop innovating and being competitive by not releasing an EV. GM is currently way better at EVs than Honda, so there’s that. If you’re looking for the bespoke Honda EV, hurry up and wait.

Couldn’t agree more. Very well said.
Soooo just what Tesla has been doing? Lol

2:50 You have to hold the seat memory button. Set your seat memory, then move it slightly, and press and hold it until the seat is set where it should be. Confused the hell outta my in my Dad's 2020 Chevy Silverado High Country, too.
Thanks for this!
for the seat memory, once you set it, you have to just hold down. So if you're driver #2, you have to hold 2 down until it moves into the memorized position. It's not press it once and it moves into that position.
Agree. Once I tried holding it down, it worked.
@@Aslash304 I didn’t say the Prologue was better. I said Tesla Y is not the best. :)
I want a spaceship, but not a Tesla

In reverse the mirrors can tilt toward ground on Elite trim. It’s a setting.
Thanks for this
Just leased a Pacific Blue Prologue Elite.
Thanks for watching! It’s really well designed on the exterior. All the Honda feels come out when I look at it.
Thanks for your comment.
Congrats! Here’s to thousands of wonderfully electrified miles! Let me know how it goes!
With level 1 charging- once connected you can change from 8A to 12A in charge settings. It makes 110v charging at least slightly tolerable.
I’ll look into this. Much appreciated

Enjoy your new vehicle! And I wish you the best on your trip!
@@Aslash304 Well my roadtrip cut short. The Prologue started giving me service brake system and other braking warnings on the dash, disc braking not working right, so I brought it into the dealer.
Great call on the door handles. I really like how it blends in
@@Aslash304 Agreed. Looks like an ICE car.

When you walk up to the car, they turn on. You can change this in the settings. Lock and walk.

Yup
Does the Prologue Touring or Elite have the built in garage door opener?
Yes and yes
Also, the Cadillac Optiq is on the Equinox frame. The Lyriq is same as Blazer and Prologue.

I never had an issue with setting up my onstar, my lane keep assist also stays on it doesn't automatically turn off
Mine stays on too.
Slightly.
Here is why my family will get one:
- EV tax credit makes it a nice price
- This is literally the only way to get my wife into an EV.
What I don't like as much:
- It's a GM.
I love ours. It is a great option for people who don’t like the other options. Let me know how it goes!
I've got a question, I've got a Tesla head wired home charger. Does the Honda Prologue come with an adapter that I can use when I sell the Tesla?
No. Honda Won’t include one. I also use Tesla Chargers at home. This is the amazon link to the adapter I bought that will allow your Tesla Charger to work. a.co/d/7vQaDtG ( or Google: Lectron Tesla to J1772 adapter )
It does not come with one at this time, but one is available from a few vendors. I use one from A2Z
Thanks for this. I really appreciate the suggestions
Question for you: do you use the onboard WiFi while driving or sitting at a charge station?
I have not used it. I have unlimited data plans on my phones
Have you done a "full on" range test video yet? I can't find any for the prologue by any youtuber?
Unfortunately, I purchased this car, and intend to own it. Because of that, I won’t run the battery to zero. I’ll be more than happy to do a range test for my next video. But I’ll do a mathematical calculation based on a 90% drain ( 100-10% ) because running a battery to zero is really not good for the battery. Look for it soon

Thanks for your feedback
DJ Khalid?
Really?
Who is DJ Khalid?
I don’t like the look of the model y.
Lots of people don’t. The Toyota Camry isn’t particularly good looking either, but people buy the heck out of it. The same is true of the Model Y.
Just get an Ioniq 5
I’m not going to argue with this.
150kW is plenty to charge on a road trip
Agree
You rushed to get your first sport ev from fisker and rushed to get unproven gm based honda. But it's your money.
He is buying these cars so we don’t have to !
I bought this vehicle because the Honda dealer took my trade on the Fisker.
Don't feel bad about the Fisker. You took a risk which is commendable. Many folks told us not to buy a Rivian because they were new in 2022 but we did and its been great.
@@Aslash304 Oooh so that's why. I met an engineer (who bought a house with solar panels already installed in Winston-Salem North Carolina). This engineer had never owned an EV. He wanted to buy a Toyota Bz4X, an Acura ZDX or a Prologue. I said those were the worse 3 EVs he could buy and that made him sad so I said you know what? Do what makes you happy. The engineer said he was a Honda and Toyota guy. I said just do the research and buy what you want.
I’d say this looks like a complete waist of time….
What kind of exercise does one do for a complete waist?
I buy Honda exclusively and this is Not a Honda , that’s a GM/Chevrolet prologue.
Correct. I owned exclusively Honda as well, until they decided to stop innovating and being competitive by not releasing an EV. GM is currently way better at EVs than Honda, so there’s that. If you’re looking for the bespoke Honda EV, hurry up and wait.
1:57 mine took 5 minutes max LOL
I’m certain there’s an action the dealer needs to take, and they did not take it. I can’t accept the terms in an email I didn’t receive. I bought mine May 8th, it was one of the first 600, this could have also been part of it.
@@Aslash304 I suppose so, probably took some time getting issues fixed.
are you serious? happy with ev? :)
Yes. My channel is an EV channel. There are plenty of channels that are not.
