according to official statistics Germany is in the top 15 of meat consumers per capita^^ Far ahead of SA

    • @tebogop8818
      @tebogop8818  4 роки тому +40

"per capita" is a tricky measurement for developing countries due to inequality. A comparison within the same social class would have been more valauble. SA is well known for braai for a reason.

As a South African living in Germany for 10 yrs, I appreciate the fact that you are not able to see a gap between the rich and the poor. For example one can be unemployed on the Govt system, but living in the same block of flats as an Engineer or doctor. We have nudist beaches in SA too, Sandy Bay, Cape Town, Lighthouse Beach, Port Alfred, Umhlanga Lagoon, Durban, Secrets Beach, Port Elizabeth. Sadly these places are only accessed by the wealthy. Also about dogs, and everyone minding their own business it's also normal in suburbs like where I live in Constantia, Cape Town we even have biking roads, something you won't see in the townships. I never needed to join a gym in Cape town because I could jog and walk at the beach early in the morning, but in Joburg I had to because of safety.

First and most important… what a beautiful and contagious smile! About a lot of things you said I totally agree. We don’t like to judge or to be judged. So I think especially the younger generations have a mindset like: As long as you don’t hurt other people with your actions or words, feel free to be and act however you want and let me do the same :D And thanks for changing your eating behaviour and being open to new thoughts about environmental issues and conclusions!! Wish you all the best for your future in Germany!

Well its easy is society and the socio- political environment allows it. In Germany education is free whereas in SA you are looking at about €50 000 or more from Kindergated to Varsity taking a job that pays less after that feel like an insult. Also bear in mind working parents can build a financial nest which they get as child grants from the government regardless of their financial status. just imagine if parents save €2520 (which they receive from the govt p.a) for 19 years until the child finish their education, they have they have almost a R100 000 in SA terms to start their lives. I South Africa start with that amount as student debt like in the US. Great video though keep them coming.

i´m actually half south african and half german, i was born and raised in cape town and then moved to germany when i was 10, i´ve been living here for years now, it was so fun and interesting to get to know my german side and its culture, i really love germany but i also miss south africa at the same time, i could already speak german when i moved to germany since i was raised bilingual, but i´m learning spanish now lol, i can speak 30% africaans, but my dad can speak more africaans than me and his german lol.

You've got a truly lovely voice which makes it a real pleasure to listen to. However, besides the pure pleasure of listening, the best part of your video is your content. I just sent the link to my (German) cousin who happened to marry a South-African a short while back who now just moved to Germany. The chap is still struggling a bit with the adaptation process and I guess, he'll find the insights of a countrywoman helpful.

Hi, usually I don't watch UA-cams like yours, but music tubes mainly.
I just stumbled about the title of your tube and it made a bit curious what you will have to say, because my wifi is also an African woman, from Central Africa though.
First of all I appreciate your way of presenting your experiences in your environment and it made me smile that you obviously landed very well in a round people that makes your life happy.
Not everyone from Africa has this luck too but you appreciates everything around your new way of living your life which made me write this comment right now.
The make of your video is very nice, the way you talk so fluently and honest with a very clear pronounciation is a refreshing delightment.

It am glad that you like it in Germany.
As a German you Sometimes Just hear and see the bad Things, to see the own country and society from different eyes is very refreshing and sometimes helpful to apreciate some Things in a new light.
South Africa is a beautiful country, I was there over twenty years ago,as a Teenager, for four months... I needed 6 years to get over my homesickness😄
I didnt feel at Home in Germany for years
And I saw what you mean because of the dogs. First I didnt understand why people were so afraid of Dogs... I was Young, I Loved dogs so I cuddled even the guard dogs at the farms...they tolerated, enjoyed it, but I think it was because it was broad daylight, the owners were around and I was Just happy to see dogs... Otherwise it would be a different Story. I remember the Times in Germany who each little House or Farm in the countryside had their guarddogs...it was never fun when they got loose

Former East Germans have a more negative relationship with dogs as they are associated with the Communist state police patrols. For instance, Angela Merkel is known to be afraid of them - she grew up there.

Tor liver Wilhelmsen ,where did you get this nonsense from?
I am East German, 52 years old.
Just like in West Germany, the police and rescue units in the GDR had dog squadrons.
Dogs would be used at the border, and so would the secret state police ...
As a normal citizen, however, you rarely came into contact with it.
We too kept dogs as pets and loyal friends.
According to the cliché, my grandma had a dachshund named Lumpi and two German shepherd dogs named Heik and Hasso. ;)

      @@TorIverWilhelmsen ,
Yes, of course you can talk yourself out of it if you are afraid of dogs. ;)
      I don't think that's a special east / west thing.
I am sure there are many people in the West who are afraid of dogs.
I think it's because of whether you are afraid of dogs, whether you grew up with dogs from an early age or not.
As I said, one was relatively seldom embarrassed to meet these specially trained dogs in the GDR.
I can tell you an anecdote about the only time I made the acquaintance of such a police dog at the age of 16 and a couple of friends of the same age.
We were standing in a group of about 30 young people ... and yes we were pretty loud too.
Two policemen with a police dog wanted to expel us.
With the dog it should look powerful and authoritarian ... I don't know.
One of our group went up to the dog and talked to him: "What a good dog", "Such a dear one" and so on ...
not long and the dog lay on his back and showed his belly to be stroked.
They blushed with shame and then walked away. ;D
I still laugh when I think about it today......
Ok, I admit that not all GDR citizens have met such a nice police dog,
but for an order to bite you had to have done more than disturbing the nightly peace with a few friends.
But wasn't that also the case in the West?

Your presentation of various value differences between SA and Germany is spot on. In fact the value system between english speaking countries and Germany is just like you describe. Having Sunday as a rest day and not just chase after money is good for the heart. Being able to enjoy nature and not having to worry to be assaulted is huge. Not looking down on someone who does manual labour instead of white color unemployed is good for society and makes everybody feel valued. Are far as dogs are concerned. Generally dogs owned in southern Africa by one group of people are normally well behaved but extremely racist, and the ones owned by the other group of people are generally treated as muts and roam the streets for foot and quick multipliers.

Germans don't need dogs to protect them , they don't fear public transport, and usually have functional families. SA is such a beautiful country, I sincerely hope public security there can improve
