I've got 130 acres in the Berkshire mountain's of western massachusetts.beef cattle, and yorkshires.. had creek issues .till one day the wife says why don't we build a bridge...got my bro in law with his welder ,and we have a bridge now the cattle, and hogs pass right on threw...gated at both ends. Hope it helps...
Strangely this video showed up today in my "in box". I thought, "oh no", their new market trailer did not work because today is your first day at market with the new concept. However, it was fun to see the old farm and realize you have only been on the existing farm for two years. My oh my, how quickly it has already changed and improved under your management. Nice to see the brooders on camera, which are still functioning exactly as they were on the previous farm. Hope the new trailer worked out even better than planned. God bless you two.
Good strong 4 to 5 foot non climb woven wire and 3 - 4 strands of hot high tinsel electric on the inside and above the woven wire makes a great perimeter fence. Is what I installed 28 years ago and have never had a animal break through it and leave the farm unaccompanied. Livestock including stallions, bulls, pigs sheep, goats have huge respect for it and don't challenge the fences. 😁. Has given me huge peace of mind knowing no one is going to end up on the road or ruining neighbors yards and gardens. It was an expense but more so a long term investment. Strong fence makes a good neighbor and keeps your neighbors happy as well.
I absolutely love watching the two of you interact with each other!! The genuine love is written all over y'alls faces. The humor and pickin at each other is that stuff that keeps a marriage fun!! Thank you for sharing your lives with us!!
We have slowly redone almost all the perimeter fencing since we bought our farm. We did have a cow get out early one morning. Black angus hit by an F250 at 5am. Was a terrible experience. We have chased cows and horses many times. They are true grazers so feed buckets don’t always work like they do for pigs. Leave those regrets behind and move on.
We’ve been lucky not to have anything get to the road. The new place isn’t close to the highway so that will help too. We’ve learned a lot of good stuff here that we can take with us. Couldn’t imagine the mess that truck vs. cow made. 🥺
It wasn’t good. The truck hit the breaks pretty hard but still broke her shoulder. She was about 6 months breed with what was to be one of our first calves. She limped off behind a house at the end of our pasture. I talked to the home owner and waited until they went to work. I put her down there then took her to a local processor that worked his magic. The road kill steaks were bad at all.
My heart goes out to you when you start packing and moving everything That was the first thing I looked for when looking for property was for it to have a good perimeter fence
perimeter fence was one of the first things i put up. Gives security and you can cut it up as you want with portable electric. It is a chore and expense but i start there first on every property
Are y’all staying in the same area of NC ? We’re just got back from West Va looking at properties but now going to look more towards the mountains in NC.. Congratulations on the sale of the house.
Congratulations on moving forward with your farm. I will tell you perimeter doesn't solve all the problems. Especially with cows, they can still get out... We lost a Heyshire dairy cow through our fences for a week this summer before she decided to come back
Fence makes good neighborhoods . It keeps their pet off the farm so I dont have to kill them . And it's a must have as a second layer of protection from escaping animals .
Good morning, heading out to doctors soon, one pig to get picked up and thats it they will be gone. My friend I loaned my Duroc boar to came to visit me last night and he was telling me his sows had started pigging. Part of me wants to go see them, boar was bought by the breeder I got him from as a piglet. Miss the son of a gun, but glad he went home!
I love your chicken tractors most I've seen are hoop style and not tall enough for this old lady with bad knees, can you but them like that or did you make the pointed metal parts? I'd like to get a couple like that. I also love your watering system. Much love from So.Cal.💟
Those are “Suscovich” style tractors. Do a Google search for them. You can buy plans that show exactly how you build them. Super easy to put together. I like them for the same reason. No bending over!! Thanks for watching
@@SheratonParkFarms I thought so based on the dimensions and overhangs. I grew up near Reidsville, NC (Rockingham County). There's still quite a few tobacco farmers in the upper Piedmont. I'm down in Union County now and don't see the old tobacco barns in this part of NC. I'm excited to see your new farm and future success.

I love how Saundra’s face lit up when you mentioned that the new farm has perimeter fencing!
I think that’s her favorite part of the new place. Appreciate y’all watching
It's a blessing having a creek crossing the land.
Congratulations on the sale and new farm. Can’t wait to see new farm content. Thanks for always posting great videos!
Thanks. Excited to show the new farm and think it will provide some great material for content.

@@SheratonParkFarms So you're not going to throw me a bone of extra information about how the new trailer worked?

Enjoyed your video. Looking forward to your new place. Have a super day. Lisa@moneypit homestead

Greg Judy said he's gone to deliver cows to farms and not dropped them of, brought them back, because the perimeter fence was inadequate.
Good luck on your new farm. Great thoughts on File 13, whether on a farm or home.

Hi Chuck,
How many acres is the farm you are moving from and how many acres is the farm you are moving to?
As an up and coming farmer u guys really motivate me. Thank you!
By chance can you tell me who that intro song is by.

Great job Sandra! Can you move stuff early ? How far away is it ? Todd
Yes. The current owners have agreed to let us begin storing and moving some things in. It’s about an hour and a half away. Thanks for watching

I regret you never did anything cool with your bamboo. I guess I watched too much Gilligan's Island.
