- HAPPY OMORI ANNIVERSARY EVERYONE!!
this is .. the first time i've ever created something for a fandom's anniversary on time haha. i think omori found a special place in my heart for several reasons, but one of the most precious was that it was one of the last games my younger sister and i played together :] ! it will always be very special to me because of that.
sentimentality aside, i've wanted to practice drawing sunny, and then i heard this song and could not stop thinking about how it fit his internal struggle very well -- the idea that he's been "rolling" through each day, and how that strain takes a toll each time he puts up with it, and the lull of giving up seems more and more inviting :C
if it isn't clear, this is an animation highlighting the concept of the bad ending. i really want to do an animation for the good ending, and with this video and the previous rpg one, i think i'm getting more comfortable with animating. i'm saving the best for last!
some last things: this animation is an imitation of akiakane's rolling girl mv. it's really popular! i've linked it below so you can see it too. the translation is by me, so the interpretation may be simplified a lot. another thing is the lyric about "weaving purpose into [his] words." the verb used is actually 奏でる, which means to play (a musical instrument), so it's more literally "playing purpose/intent/meaning into [his] words." doesn't that fit sunny so well? (in how the violin.. strengthened his resolve in the face of his darker thoughts...) i thought that was cool

Omori was often antagonized as the bad guy because he wanted to end sunny not knowing he was always there to protect sunny from being in pain until the end so it really is a stab in the gut when he hug sunny to provide in a sense “relief and final comfort” one feels before death. Your last sense of comfort is literally from yourself when no one is there to comfort nor save you from your anguish.
Also, there's not even a need to antagonize him, they're the same person
Omori is representation of depressive thoughts of Sunny, that's why he's a bad guy.
@@kykypy3hu4389 No, Omori was created to protect sunny from the truth, which is why sunny has to stand up to Omori at the end to be able to tell his friends what happened, and why succumbing to Omori makes sunny kill himself, ensuring that he never has to.

I feel many of us were at least aware of how Sunny must have been feeling throughout the story, but that very last image with "thank you for watching" for some reason hit me.
I could REALLY sympathize seeing them hugging him (and him accepting it).
And though this may have been said a hundred times by many people. At that moment I could really understand that he just wanted peace, his friends, and to be held by someone who understood, along with be comforted that it was actually okay to just breathe😭
Let’s not forget that this makes it worse with the fact that this is the Oyasumi ending
The fact that in the end Omori keeps his eyes open while Sunny closes them is such a nice touch, it is just like the start of the lyrics of the song in the bad ending.

Wow an animation that isn't omori tumbling down a hill or something.
I like how it is unique in that sense. I also like the use of minimalist imagery to put the focus on sunny and omori. It helps add on to the sense of isolation they feel.
Also I love how much the characters rotate

Interesting note i saw about the animation
In the beginning, Sunny and Omori are both standing back to back straight up. Later, they're standing back to back, but Sunny is tensed up, making himself look smaller then he actually is. Then, he turns around and tries to choke Omori unsuccessfully.
Lastly we see Sunny on the floor in front of Omori in the hospital gown before Omori bends down and hugs him.
Throughout the whole animation, Sunny is physically getting lower and lower as he loses his will to live, before fighting Omori and losing.
And in the end, it's only his protector from his demons, one who metaphorically became a demon, was the only one able to hold him in the end
That image of Basil at 2:05 is genuinely unsettling. It's interesting to see him portrayed not as a smol helpless bean, but instead as a teenager who is desperate to break free from his demons and will do anything to accomplish it.
I love this concept that Omori was like a escape point to Sunny and was always "asking" "Are you ready to go? Are you good enough already?" until he finally got rid of his traumas.
Got a few things to say:
1. I never knew I needed this
2. I never realized how perfect (well almost) the song is with Omori
3. The animation is AMAING

I didn't expect a full on music video, and now I am crying
Omori always wanted what was best for Sunny, even if it involved harming him or scaring him, as long as it kept him away from the truth, a protector who has to persecute in order to fulfill his job.
Now his job was to comfort Sunny before death. I feel like Omori is misunderstood, he's never been inherently bad. Just had to go lengths to protect Sunny.
His version of protect.. He didnt protect him , but he was trying.
omori tried to protect him the only way he knew how...
i have been a vocaloid fan for many, *many* years, and this is possibly the best rolling girl animatic i have ever seen. well done
The ending absolutely broke me seeing Omori and Sunny hug before Sunny dies is so sad. Also him asking if Sunny’s ready to end it yet and he says he needs more time. The emotion is just wow it’s so sad to see him like this!!!😭🥲😭
This animatic hurts in the best way because it's such a realistic sitation enhanced from the mind, shown in Sunny's POV. It's so fascinating how deeply one can feel from such a situation. Absolutely beautiful, interesting, and realistic, yet still compared to the original video to this song. It's so perfect, painstakingly real. It makes my stomach twist in such a way that I've had yet to feel.

This animatic ended up getting me into OMORI and I gotta say after I learned the lore it just hits different
Somehow, there is something so bittersweet about this despite it being the oyasumi ending. How Sunny keeps trying to push on but the warmth of the darkness is comforting, and he slowly loses his strength to succumb at last.

THIS IS SO SO SO COOL!!!!! the animation style is so beautiful, seamless, and captivating. leaves me hanging on to every second. i absolutely LOVE that you take these concepts and add so much depth to it. its so intelligent, and its so fun to think of all the deeper meaning. it makes the message so much fuller and all the animation hit so much harder.
speaking of the message, owwie. god, poor sunny man. it had me so emotional :(. what a beautiful and unique way to show this part of the game. it feels very poetic. (btw i really love that hand shaking hair part that was so cool :D)

It's like every time I blink and turn the corner there is a new masterpiece just sitting there. This is an amazing animation that takes an incredible deviation from the source material and builds a wonderful and honest story. I am very glad to see your work expressing the themes of the game so well. Even the nature of Sunny and Omori, that they are rather at odds with each other but not quite enemies. Omori does not "like" Sunny but he does not want to see him suffer and tries to open the way more and more until a truly final conclusion is made, whatever that is. Spiraling and rolling out of control as Sunny tries to live just a little longer hoping everything will be okay. It might be the "bad" ending but there is a weird, morbid beauty behind it. It doesn't glorify the ending but it doesn't shy away from the incredibly interpersonal feeling involved with such a choice.
What I mean to say is; Thank you. This is perhaps the most beautifully crafted animation I have come across yet and that is saying something. I hope you go on to create great works and find the notoriety you deserve.

I’m in tears, this animation is SO AMAZING AND SAD. The animation is so beautiful and well done, and the art is phenomenal.
You can feel Sunny’s self loathing and despair, and it’s devastating. His guilt and depression slowly eat away at him until he can only think of the option of suicide, and his final comfort and warmth is his own self hatred. Omori’s hug to sunny feels so warm…

the scene that make my heart feels like cutted it the sunny running to jump over the building but OMORI catch him before doing it. It's a very good detail to say that OMORI is not the villain but an Anti hero that protecting sunny from his own trauma.
OMORI is not the trauma, but he is the one who keep sunny away from depressed with his trauma. So yea, OMORI is the anti hero in this game. There is no villain. only Sunny and Sunny only

The part where it suddenly swapped into full color hit me hard cause i thought it was gonna be fINE but then the falling headspace colors showed up and filled me with pain because i knew what was happening and just. crying. god. this is beautiful.

This animation is so BEAUTIFUL. I got tears in my eyes while watching it. The song fits so good with the bad ending but so does it fit the good ending. At first I thought that it was about Omori asking Sunny if he's ready to let go of him and live a normal life without him but Sunny need more time. Then after I saw Omori hugging Sunny I realized that it was about Omori asking Sunny if he is ready to let go of all his pains. I love how he said he needs more time. It's just so touching. I can't express what exactly I'm feeling but the animation got into my heart immediately. I could write what I think about the animation and my thoughts for hours, but who would even read that? So anyway nice job! It's so emotional meaning you did a great job and I'm amazed!
