Probably not alone in thinking I would never hear a tubular bell in a Quo track! Until today that is! So much going on in those original tapes. Hard Time and Hold You Back were probably the first couple of tracks I gravitated towards when I first put the album on the turntable back in '77. Funny the things you remember when hearing these tracks...as a teenager I had been surprised that Quo were playing a song (Hard Time) in F# and using a C# as well! Had been expecting most Quo songs to be in F, G, A, B and D!
Thanks for posting these. I'm from Memphis and didn't discover the band until 2014 but now I'm as much of a fan as anybody. Loved your remixes, I wish you could do some other albums.
Hello when I did this we were neighbors as I was in Nashville but now in Silicon Valley N California. Thanks for your positive feedback on my remixes. Yes it would be great to do more.
I was 12 ....rocking all over the world album ..when i heard it ,,fan ever since ..i heard they did not like the polished style ..I loved it ..every track ..obviously love hard live feel ..but it captured the what they are ..were about
I am Mexican from this mexico city suburb called Neza where we love Quo. I love this album, I do. I really like the songs. I used to listen to it on vinyl with an amplifier that would move air on the speakers, but I think the sound of the album was kind of blue, not bright and happy, thats how I put it, even when listening on the real deal turntable. The new mix sounds so fresh but i have only listened to them digitally. Is there a way to listen to them analog? A note, here in Mexico the thinking of seeing the band played live was just a dream. Later in life i could fight my way out of poverty to see Quo in Frankfurt and see my hero Richard Parfitt play that glourious intro of Hold You back!! That I will be greatful for until I go.
Brilliant stuff. Yet again, so many different things going on when you hear those isolated tracks. I think you could make an entire album just of alternative remixes to this one song and they'd all sound totally different.
Another really interesting video John. Great to hear all the separate tracks & instruments which made the completed the song. These videos are a real insight into the whole recording & producing process. Great stuff again!
For some tracks I still prefer the original mix but for this one I DEFINITELY prefer the remix! Amazing work, John. It would be awesome to hear some other songs (from other albums) dissected as well. "Over The Edge" for example. Amazing song with lots of interesting layers!
Brilliant again John , enjoying these vids ... I would have liked to hear Alan's Bass on this one as I think it's really good part , other than that , another top notch vid ...
Hi John, In the last there was a tv program called; “classic albums” Maybe it is nice if you and Francis go troughs the tracks and give reactions on the album. That would be nice and it is a classic album!
Hard Time is one of my favourite tracks on the album and the remix is the best on the album IMO. The brass is awesome and the rythm section really packs a punch. Also love Rick's creativity in the early days. Shame he contributed less and less in later years... Loving the little details aswell, the snare drum could've used a little more reverb, but that's alright ;)
Great video John! I'm absolutely loving all of your contact... My mouth has been watering 😂 With regards your comment to The Drone on how it came about.... there are a lot of us die-hards that are obsessed with all things "The Drone", is there any possibility that you could do a little video on how it came about, who wrote it, what was used, maybe even a few samples of it? I know it would be greatly appreciated 😊👍
@@johneden-producer4614 FANTASTIC! I can't express just how grateful I am for all these wonderful videos that you've been putting up! I can tell you, it certainly means an awful lot to us die-hards! 😊
This is soooo fuckin' cool for me....my love for this band, [almost] every version of it, cannot be put into one passionate enough words. This Quo is the one that I love the best though. Everything up to Just Supposin'....I'd stand Rossi's way with a tune against ANYONE!
Brilliant stuff John, thanks again for sharing. Was it really 2011?! Love Andy's part - never noticed that before. I think even Harry was blown away by the harmonies though! hehe
Rockin and Cant stand the heat were very poppy, but Whatever, Just and Never too late were as heavy as their first few albums. As soon as The Turk left they were hopeless.
Holy shit, this blows me away. So relaxed and full on! Also the perfect pitch in the harmonies!
Yep it turned out well
Fantastic John!! Regards from Spain!
Just amazing John.

This is terrific.
Reignited my interest in this album.
This is genious played and re-recorded!
wonderfull song, for me one of their best songs ever!

So your lining up an alternative remix project for me !
Again, thank you so much for your time, your effort, the remix and of course these videos! So fascinating and interesting!
I'm looking forward to your reaction to RAOTW

Almost complete

Great video! I especially love the intro parts.
Yes its was special
The intro feels very proggy!
John has forgotten to mention that Mike Oldfield and Keith Emerson had been session musicians on the Rockin All Over The World album!
Yes just a bit
Lovin these video blogs. 👌
Thanks Brian
Andy's piano part reminded me of the Small Faces

Yes sorry I didn't get to cover in isolation

Oh Tim that's funny Harry did have a moment. Yes 2011.
John, why is the intro with the bells not on the album? It's a great intro.
They are being saved for a duet with Mike Oldfield ! Seriously though they are there but low as a support to Richards guitar part
Much to much keyboards and horns. This album was the start of Quo starting to become a popband, instead of de hardrock band it was until then.
Rockin and Cant stand the heat were very poppy, but Whatever, Just and Never too late were as heavy as their first few albums. As soon as The Turk left they were hopeless.
Too much brass in the remix. The original still sounds better.
Well you have both, thanks for your feedback
