Hi Nichola! I live in a 55+ community in the desert of Southern California. In looking for a project for our (mostly) ladies to do in our arts and crafts room I decided to share this with them. My was it a hit!!!! We just changed the tissue paper to frosted spray paint and we all just took off with it. Everyone was so absorbed and happy with the results. We did buy the fairy cuts from Gypsy Soul and they worked great! Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Wonderful gift for my young granddaughters! Every time they visit I have a surprise for them. Buying "junk" items from store is very boring. Thanks so much for inspiring video. We can always make these together also. Of course I will use glue gun for safety.
Thank you so much for shairing :) and I love how you even added the fact how fairies are to be respected not captures. We love our fairy friends and would never cause them harm but some people especially young ones don't know any better. Blessings to you
Thank you +mary bratcher :) We're very mindful of respecting the wee folk here. Fairy play is fun, but it's important to be considerate of real faeries.
I loved these fairy lamps. My granddaughter will love getting one of these. Your tutorial was given quite well, leaving the viewer with all needed information to complete one of these cuties!
I love these! My fairies in my garden wouldn't come indoors but I've a feeling these would blend in really well on some window sills! I wonder if by changing the colour of the paper you could personalise them?
I absolutely love this idea. I just came across this video on Facebook and I'm going to make this as an addition to my unborn's nursery! I yet to find out the gender but if it's a girl, I'm doing this same way with a fairy but if I have a boy, I'm thinking a wolf maybe! Thank you so much for making this! Just subscribed to your channel as well! Can't wait to browse and see what other wonderful ideas you've come up with!
I have no words t thank you for your prompt reply , Its not possible to buy online ,will try to make my own fairy......I live in INDIA................Loved your fairy jars...........God bless
i bought some of the fairy cutouts and intend to use them in the fairy lanterns as wedding decorations. they're so fun and whimsical! thanks for sharing the tutorial :)
+scrapeahappy Boys can make fairy jars too. But if your child isn't interested in Fairies, you can switch up the silhouette with anything. Dragons, marine animals, insects, mythical monsters, ect
When saying use tissue paper....like tissue paper you would put in a gift bag? Just making sure I have everything before I start this project. Also you mentioned using a thinner glue than school glue, what do you suggest? Would mod podge glitter work for the glitter glue portion?
These will be perfect gifts for all my godbabies...fairies for the girls n dragons for the boys...lol...1 question...which size fairies did u use or do i just need buy all 3 sizes??
You are a sweetheart , helping me so promptly , if by any chance i succseed to make one , I would like to show it to you . HOW?????? My daughter 's birthday is in March , will try something...........God bless .....
How do you think this would work with colored jars? I seen some pretty light green glass jars, but not sure how it would turn out. Would like to know your thoughts about using green jars please!
I'm making one because these are so pretty. I cut out my out fairy though with scissors and an xacto knife, does that work or does it need to be laser cut???
Thank you for this video. I just hope you answer my question. Can I put the LED lights outside the jar instead on the inside? will it be also have silhouette effect? i just saw your rotten dragon tutorial and you didn't put any light on the jar. instead you use the light as a background.
Could pastel colours of tissue paper be used? I'm thinking colours that could be used for a little girl's birthday party, or a baby shower, especially if you know the baby's sex.
Ive been thinking about doing this for months. I shopped around for all the supplies I wanted to use. I had to wait several weeks for the fairy cut outs. Tonight I started and found out wow, this is harder than she makes it look. The tissue paper breaks very easily and it didn't lay as neatly for me. Mine has ripples in it due to brush strokes. Somehow I got the idea I needed to paint the glue on the jar and over the tissue paper. So, I'm waiting for them to dry now. Maybe it will be awesome and different. But the tutorial's surface is so gauzy and smooth. I'm kinda disappointed it wasn't as easy after all the $ I put into it. I don't know how hard it would be to start over with these same jars.
+CosmosFiddler it might take a little practice to get the hang of handling the tissue. Please do NOT spend loads of money on this project. Use cheap school glue to cover the jars and discount store gift bag tissue. (Heck, you can even use glass food jars from your recycle bin to save further money.) A few suggestions: Don't fuss with the paper too much. Many wrinkles will work themselves out as the glue/paper dries. Work quickly. The longer the paper is wet with glue, the weaker it becomes and more likely it is to tear. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but you really do want to use cheap runny glue for the paper part. Thicker glue will pull at the paper and is more likely to cause it to tear. Save the good stuff for applying glitter and decorations. And if none of that works? Don't worry about it! Not every project works for everyone. (I can't knit to save my life.)
The glue dried and Im satisfied. The appearance is like crackled glass and the fairies are quite visible so I think it will be ok. I did use jars from peanut butter we ate over months and months because I like the idea of recycling, which drew me to this project in the first place. I was going to try to recycle gifted tissue paper in pastel colors but the first I used shredded under the brush. I finally got 6 jars done now. Tomorrow, glitter and decorating. I'll improvise on the rest!
I noticed you're wearing a Platform 9 3/4 shirt! That's awesome! if I could post pictures on here, I'd show you the one my friend made for my little Wizard. it's Cornish Pixies!
I love your comment at the end! I agree! Never put real fairies in to jars. :D

Could be fun to make them together!
I used a swirly-patterned tissue which gave it a Van Gogh effect. I also used little monster silhouettes for Halloween lanterns.
I have become OBSESSED with making the fairy jars 🌸 thank you so much for the tutorial 💕
Thank you so much for shairing :) and I love how you even added the fact how fairies are to be respected not captures. We love our fairy friends and would never cause them harm but some people especially young ones don't know any better. Blessings to you

Adorable! Great project for the grandkids!
I was just wondering why you need two different types of glue? What are each of the glues used for, what parts?
Amazing idea but can I ask how you lock the jar if the candle in
hello... you know a page, where you can print these fairys?! for example in black, and can cut out?!

+Rachel Brugioni that's great!
LOVE it!! thanks a lot for the tutorial and sharing your creations!! I just LOVE it!! :)
Ho do you make the colored lanterns? They are very pretty
would they work if i stick the fairy cutouts on the pattern? my jar doesn't have a flat surface 😳
You glue on the jar and gently rub glue on the top of the tissue?
Have you tried things with colored tissue paper .
Sorry another question. How many layers of tissue paper I need to place in the jar?
can you use ordinary white tissues or does it have to be white tissue paper?
Beautiful and gorgeous! had to laugh at the last statement! thank you for sharing.
+jerrygermaine fryc thank you for watching to the end ;)
Could you create your own cut outs? I'd love to have other creatures caught in my jars. Could you just cut out silhouettes from paper? Thanks!
+benkenobisgirl give it a try! No harm in experimenting :)
Are you using the same glue to put the tissue paper on and the glitter?
Love love love this idea.
Very Pretty! Fun project!! I need to come up with a design for a boy!!
+scrapeahappy how about cars, trucks, ninjas, zombies, dragons? Not exclusively liked by boys but maybe more suited to your boy ;)
+scrapeahappy Boys can make fairy jars too. But if your child isn't interested in Fairies, you can switch up the silhouette with anything. Dragons, marine animals, insects, mythical monsters, ect

+Wicked Anjel for standard pint sized jars I'd suggest medium or small if they are on the smallish jam sort of size.
Girls can like dragons and boys can like fairies?
what type of paper can be use for the cut out? can it be regular paper? sorry idk if i missed that part 😔
Cc Santana you can use printer paper or alternatively photo paper. Also there are hundreds of fairy silhouettes on the Internet
I need to know the exact glue you used. I have tried 3 types of glue and the glue always showed through. Thanks.
This is such a great gift idea. I love it.. Thank you so much. I have to try it...!!!!!
Do you think I could use a vinyl cut out instead of card stock?
beautifu, luv ur creativity ❤
what kind of lights we have to use and how to make it shine
I love your idea of making fairy lantern. Can you please tell me how you created these fairy figures?
can you use tea light candle? instead of battery light?
Absolutely fantastic idea. Love, love it. TFs HUgs Beate
what weight tissue paper did you use please , i git fairies off E bay
The tissue breaks when I apply a new layer so is white paint ok?
Could I use black vinyl for the fairy stencil ????
just magical!!
can you use purple and green paints or onlyvwhite?
What kind of light is inside? A battery powered tea light?
You are a sweetheart , helping me so promptly , if by any chance i succseed to make one , I would like to show it to you . HOW?????? My daughter 's birthday is in March , will try something...........God bless .....
How do you think this would work with colored jars? I seen some pretty light green glass jars, but not sure how it would turn out. Would like to know your thoughts about using green jars please!
+goldiealexander78 give it a try! Experimenting is half the fun of making.
I'm making one because these are so pretty. I cut out my out fairy though with scissors and an xacto knife, does that work or does it need to be laser cut???
+Nichola Battilana thx. I did one at 3 yesterday and mixed up the white glitter with black so I have to start over because it does not look good.
+Maple Sugar experimenting is all part of the fun. I start over all the time! Keep at it :)
Is there an alternative for the fairy cutouts? I'm planning to do this for a gift but the cutouts' shipping is too late.
this is amazing i am making this for my nanny for her birthday :D
Thank you for this video. I just hope you answer my question. Can I put the LED lights outside the jar instead on the inside? will it be also have silhouette effect? i just saw your rotten dragon tutorial and you didn't put any light on the jar. instead you use the light as a background.
If I place mine in a window I can see the silhouette effect. If the light is quite strong from behind you should be able to see them. Hope that helps!
Could pastel colours of tissue paper be used? I'm thinking colours that could be used for a little girl's birthday party, or a baby shower, especially if you know the baby's sex.
Can we use something else instead of using clear glitter?
can I use tresing paper? I don't have tissue paper
Tried it and love it!!
can we use parchment paper instead of tissue paper?
can't wait to try it
I did it and its just amazing.
Wow! This is awesome. Thank you for sharing.
I love these! Thank you for sharing!

That sounds like so much fun! Watch out though, those Cornish Pixies can be cheeky stinkers.
+Nichola Battilana Of course! I definitely won't let them out. I can only imagine what they would do to my cats.
What material do I use for the fairy cutouts?
I super LUV these....thank you!
This is beatiful, thanks for sharing
