Footage was recorded over a stretch of a few days due to a tight schedule, and i got #rekt by a crash midway once. So i had to edit it together as many different chunks. I hope it doesn't show too much. Here's an imgur gallery with a bunch of shots of the city; imgur.com/a/Hl7Q5 Which of course brings me to something important; the city needs a name, and while i am shameless enough to come up with random Japanese words for the city's neighbourhoods and wards, the actual name of the city deserves a bit more thought. If you got a suggestion feel free to shoot in the comment section or as a comment to this post. If possible, explain what it means in Japanese and what the logic behind the name is. Hope you enjoy the video :-) PS. I dont know if Theine is dead, but i am embracing a bit more of a detail heavy / road customization building style and enjoying it a ton. This is amazing! I've always wished for more Japanese series, so it's great when another one pops up - and this is right in my aisle. Good to see that Crumbs & co have gotten you into the way of detailing more heavily, because it's definitely paying off. Just the first episode and it's already looking fantastic. Just one tiny bit of advice since it's something I noticed in Japan: you seem to be connecting a lot of the residential buildings together, but in Japan there is always a tiny bit of space between them. Sometimes it's just about 20cm and sometimes it's enough for a narrow walkway, but the buildings almost never quite touch. Anyway I just wanted to say that to help you get closer to the realism you're striving for, and I don't think I can say anything else because damn you're well on your way.
You are correct and i noticed this when lurking google earth as well. Its a habit i guess, but ideally there would be a tiny bit of room. Overall the residential areas don't really receive the love they should, but the lack of assets and a focus on more fancy areas is the cause of that. Another reason is also that the residential vanilla assets are not square like most Japanese residential plots are, so i find i need to mash them together and have them at different angles to help alleviate that a bit :)
@@Infrastructurist i know that probably i´m saying this a little bit to late but; more than a habit its part of the earthquake protection they need for their buildings.
Infrastucturist. You’re a hell of a builder and everything you create does look beautiful in its own way. The only negative thing i can say about you is you can’t build ugly and nasty cities or areas. Theine is just too beautiful. The roads are one thing why I will love this new series. PS: If anyone is wondering Infrastructuris wrote in the coment that was as long as all the laws in Britain that Theine is NOT DEAD!
Funny someone points out Kendrick. The first 10 video's (or about) show Kendrick city centre. It isn't doing too well. I recommend you take alook if you want something more downtrodden.
I'm sure you might know this, but Japan is well known for its mountain pass roads, especially in the car community. It would be awesome if you made a mountain road that people used for street racing and drifting like in the show Initial D
Lmao I was thinking about suggesting a sort of Mount Akina/Haruna based pass and rural villages in the outskirts. Maybe complete with the parking at the end of the down hill and the resorts on the lake. And a Fujiwara tofu shop
I would recommend you the Metro Overhaul Mod, since it provides a different style of train tracks and lets you build ground metro tracks, thus making the whole transport thing more realistic. Great job as always!
> "realistic" He's building train, mainline rail or dc suburban train, not metro. There's no overhead line MOM track. Elevated metro downtown is rare in Japan. Even with train converter, MOM would obstruct seamless metro-train through service.
Sometimes I come back to this channel in some forlorn hope that you'll come back after 3 years hiatus lol. I mean weirder things have happened. Good luck with that master's thesis. Will keep coming back to gain inspiration for a long time to come. Cheers.

Man I'm a huge fan and I love all your builds. Even though your builds are incredibly realistic, something that is bothering me in all the different cities are those tight curves of the train tracks. They just wouldn't exist in real life. Wow, that’s insane. I totally like your city. As a Japanese and as you mentioned in the video, I don’t see the road markings natural, but that’s a tiny problem. Really insane and awesome and whatever. I just can’t describe my exact feelings in English!
It's over a year ago, but just watching now, so... Pity you had to use Korean signs by the Starbucks. And the only thing wrong about your braille ground tile thingies is that you don't have them all along the walkways. Having them ONLY at the crosswalks doesn't help that much... kinda need 'em to be linked to each other to be useful. But none of the Cities Skylines simulated people are blind, so no worries. :-)
This is what I wanted to do with this game, but I felt both technically incapable and lacking in available resources.. Thanks for this series, bringing it to "life" lol!!
I wish there were more buildings on the crossroads like the thumbnail in the base game. Always feels weird for them to be uniform and square-like. I'd like my crossroads to feel more like an open space and a plaza than a canyon of buildings going in a straight line in either direction.
I think that the city should be named ”アイランドシテ” (”Airandoshiti”) or ”Island City”, since this is one, and since it’s not uncommon in Japan to see cities with very obvious names.
Thats a nice suggestion, but the larger part of the city will not be situated on the island we've started worked on though, only Hayachiru (which i now realize means something crazy in japanese lol) and perhaps a small neighbourhood to the south, will occupy the island :)
You know how when they build cities, they always pause the game? I was wondering if the drivers on the highway ARENT PAUSED, but the moment you unpause it, BOOM! Without a blink, a fucking city just come out of nowhere!
I'm looking forward to completing your training in detailing. In time you will call *me* master. You want this, don't you? The desire to detail is swelling in you now. Take your PLT. Use it. I Tokyo atleast, even if the roads have much traffic, many prefer the metro system/public transport. Main problem is they dont have enough parking spaces. Its not like in the US where there is 10x the amount needed.
