thank you for the honest review and feedback
of course! if you want to work together on this let me know!
Realistically if you combine this with essentially what Elgato's Wave Link does (as he mentioned multiple audio sources...or routing to specific audio sources by application) you would have something near perfect and I would pay for that!
Wow so cool to see steel series in the comments!
From a streaming and general use point of view I would love to see VST2 and/or VST3 support. Maybe with the ability to turn off the other mic functions to help reduce load on the PC.
An additional line for music audio (or anything else people might want to separate). Some streamers like to play light background music but not have it playing for themselves. Also people could alter their background music without affecting their game/desktop volume which could be nice.
Another thing that would be a great extra would be multiple outputs. I currently use Voicemeeter to output audio to two pairs of headphones at the same time so my friend and I can quietly watch movies at night without disturbing any neighbors with my desktop speakers.
@@gamingheadztvMediaHeadztv very much NEED VST support
For the Microphone i tried to use the smart voice but man, a compressor would make every adjustment more precise and consistent
This looks so incredibly promising for something that's in early access. I'll definitely be recommending this video to a few friends! Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention and may the algorithm be with you 🙏
Thank you Owen
This seems pretty cool. I personally think its maybe just more intuitive then better, but they’re on to something! I’ll always respect voicemeeter and the crazy routings I’ve made with it since I’m audio guy and a huge nerd, but I bought a Babyface Pro FS awhile back and it’s software TotalMix FX (which actually is even more confusing than voicemeeter) is so nice once you get it setup.
Voice meter has errors that make your audio staticy or cut out completely. Me and other streamers I know get the same issue. If it does not do that than it is 100% better. Cause it would be useable.
@Nuggie Nigasaki oOf - the tube hasn’t been great about notifying me about comments, so 7 months later I’m coming to tell you it has 12 outs which I’m sure you may have figured out by now, lol.
@@darkfox2401 it takes some real good elbow grease to get working, but I have achieved some pretty streamlined results with no static. Dropouts do happen on occasion, but that’s audio of network. You gotta pay attention to buffers, and try to stick to using devices using kernal streams or take advantage of ASIO. Sadly, I don’t have a direct setting to give you, but given decent hardware and some time on your hand and you can get it sounding pretty good. I still use it to throw audio from my laptop to my studio setup in another room. I also throw my studio audio back to that laptop to monitor and also send that audio to my iPhone. You can get real intricate, but trust me, I spent a entire summer in 2020 getting it together, lol! Still - it isn’t my primary system any more and totalmix that comes with the Babyface Pro is miles more relentless.
Can you help me with setting for a clear good sounding voice on steelseires
How much to fix mine ? I had the perfect setup then reset my PC and can't get voicemeeter to work for the life of me
i feel that voicemeeter has much more functions, but this new software is easier for new users.
anyway thanks for the recommendation :D
Let’s hope it grows into something valuable!
@@youngruggedandraw6864 thats just for voice we mean for mixing and having many sources from different websites and tabs. voicemeeter is definetly miles better
voicemeeter has too much delay in game audio
I can't do everything I do with Voicemeeter, so this tool is not useful for me, but sure. I guess for some inept people it's the perfect tool.
VoiceMeeter really just needs someone to copy what it does with a more sane UI. They simply need competition. It works well, but audio routing is hard and in some ways its UI just makes it harder.
Well for me i think Voicemeeter isn't complicated at all, you can get complicated with VST inserting and stuff.
And honestly it isn't even set-up right, because my slider DO affect my volume outputs in obs (even with a Hardware midi controller, which is a really neat feature)
@@CrazyThunderbird It IS complicated AF. The naming, the matrix, the entire routing, the composite mode, it's all a big UI catastrophy. Doesn't mean I don't love it.
@@jakob_mierscheid for those with experience using a real mixer, it actually makes a fair amount of sense, but understanding the UI to make sense of it can be challenging, I agree
Hi @TheFranswah Studio, thanks for the video! I thought to mention that I've played around with both Voicemeeter Potato and SteelSeries Sonar, and I believe there's a way to use both at the same time. The benefits of SteelSeries (equalizer, noise gate, and spatial audio) with the customizability / distribution of Voicemeeter Potato. I'm still playing around with it, though. It will be interesting to see if there are times the audio is being altered so much, it comes out bad. But right now, the setup I have is awesome!
Both are awesome as they are, though 👍
Sounds cool Caleb.. I think Sonar will end up making updates with more sources. Will be interesting to see how they do it
Very promising program that’s only going to get better in time. Sound design directional emersion with stock eq sounds are great. VM is not user friendly but comes with a ton of control and tweaks when you get the hang of it. Not to mention the macros that you can do. Hope sonar and VM comes with an offspring to integrate the two together!
Question, I wonder if using a virtual cable as the output for the music source, added to Sonar, would it work that way? Or are you saying that it automates Game Volume, Chat Volume, and no way to make your own "Music Volume" source? Thanks in advanced and sorry for the possible redundancy.
Exactly what we needed! Appreciate the video my man, now if there was a way to send this over to a stream PC that would make it next level!
does this have a programmable api? does it allow bridging into a DAW? or multiple submixes? if not it will never be as good imo.
if you're a loudness equalization user like me, this will disable it. It's a really good app if voicemeter is to much. I couldn't get the EQ anywhere close to how LE sounds unfortunately.
think this is worth changing elgato wave link out to babana or sonar?
I am not even using the wave link sw but have it installed. havent taken my stream to that lvl yet
Do you know if this has the ability to stream audio from a DAW, for say doing guitar play through streams
can you still use voice mod at the same time while using this application also?
definitely NOT going to replace Voicemeeter with this.
Not for everybody
Voicemeeter is stupid better than sonar alone the more versions rhe cables the easier handeling the eq and the profi use like tf this
@@verletzlich it looks easier to use for mac users I have a Mac I can’t use voice meter I only have the cable and idk what it’s for
@@okentrepreneur3777 the cable is a virtual I/O driver for streaming Audio between a software and another Audio Device. A cable. Virtually 😅
Now is better :D
tried numerous kinds of software and this finally fixed my mic issues
Hi great video, quick question could I use this to record the sounds coming out my daw to record audio threw my screen recorder Camista? Thanks in advance 😊
love the video! really good honest breakdown of the two. i like the humor of tossing away VM lol.
Question: When I record using moments (on the same app) my mic input comes out the left ear as if it were not set as mono. Do you know how to make my input device mono by default without needing an app like voicemeeter? I'm new to having an XLR mic so not sure if this is a noob question. Thanks in advance.
I have a dual setup (game / stream) with capture card.
So am I setting this up on both or game pc ?
So it sounds like you CAN use virtual audio cables as a source, point a browser at that cable and presto right?
Any chance this will work well for browser users in Discord or Stream yard for projecting the audio from like, just a separate music player or karaoke player in general? The one issue I have with Stream yard is that it only let's someone else in the stream hear the audio through a browser. And OBS is too resource intensive for some reason on my gaming laptop.
Thanks! I use this now to cleanup my Mic Sound (internal Mac microphone) before it goes into MS Teams. I do the same for the output sound of MS Teams. For both I use the stock Voice Plugins (VP and VR) and a high pass filter at about 200Hz to finally save my ears of those boomy low frequencies. I wear Headphones and the basses war exhausting. Especially after a full day of calls. Also my own voice was muddy and boomy (bad acoustics in my room). That's all fixed now!
I use a Korg nanoKontrol 2 midi controller to control what I hear (via the knobs) and what stream hears (via the sliders)
I didn't see anything mentioned about Sonar having midi controller support; so that, along with the big cons you mentioned are HUGE deal breakers for me on this app.
I appreciate that new apps in this realm are being developed, and I understand that it's only in early access - if they can bridge all the gaps then I'd gladly change as VMP has a vast assortment of quirks that can be maddening, like audio bugging out requiring a restart of the audio engine (which now makes me want to check if I can use one of the Korg's buttons to do this task).
The cons are pretty big deal breakers. Buuuut I’m hoping that certain apps take notice of the simplicity.
@ZeroKami Agreed. I do the same with an AKAI MPK Mini, using the knobs to control the decibal sliders and the pads as "Streamdeck" buttons that can do anything I want the computer to do between the MIDI input itself and a MIDI to Keyboard Shortcut program.
MIDI is a must, Patch Inserts to VST are a must.
Concerning your want for a restart of VMP from your Korg, in case you never looked into it - The Voicemeeter manual has a command for restarting the audio engine. (Command.Restart = 1). You can assign this to a macro button and then map the macro button to a MIDI key.
@@Sidkain I. Love. You. Omg XD
I just went to add that and saw that I already had it added - so I must've figured it out and then immediately forgot about it because I've yet to use it and stuck with manual resets FML
Still, love you ♥
@@ZeroKami86 Ya I use it with my MIDI as well. Voicemeeter doesn't play with computer sleep well a lot of the time, so I just have the button to restart everytime I wake my computer from sleep and when it screws up randomly.
Hey man! Tks 4 sharing, it was very useful for me that use a low end mic.
Idk how to make the profiles from sonar to load when i enter a game, do i have to do it manually? I have a razer headset
does this work like with xbox game bar capture like when you record i dont want to hear my keyboard when recording
Good video but was disappointed you didn't go over whether or not this would work with a 2 PC setup. Voice Meeter VBAN is a great feature to send/receive audio to other PC's within the same network, but it does have its quirks and increases the complexity for a multi PC setup.
Did you find out if this works a year later with a multi pc setup? Thanks.
When any app add support for my inputs and outputs to run over ASIO like voicemeeter, I will consider switching.
ASIO bypasses windows mixer entirely, sure. But I am fine with that. My entire workflow is based off of ASIO anyways.
Also, windows has some weird latency it keeps piling on top of my IO, until I reboot the PC. If they fix that natively, anything will be a decent replacement too.
And yes, it is bad, I can literally see the latency offsets, if I'm not using an ASIO based output.
Does it allow multiple outputs like banana does?
How can i fix my mic picking up sounds from pc and mix it with my voice
example : i want to record something important to say while listening to music , i dont want the music to get picked up by the mic but thats actually is my problem ! in obs i seperated discord , game , music , mic/aux in diffrent tracks , everything working fine but the mic/aux picking up every sound :(
can this mix two sorces together like bluetooth and hdmi at the same time for a surround sound system?
Does this software account for multiple mics or is it optimized for only one mic?
Hi, I have a problem with separating audio lines. When I export the mp4 data I recorded and put it to premiere, it has 4 different audio lanes but everyone with the same sound. In my sound settings everything is set right, so I don't know the problem. May you know a solution?
i tried that app, but i wasn't very happy with the EQ thing so i went and found voice meeter, and found ur video lmao. the main thing with the steel series i didn't like was that you couldn't switch between multiple profiles easily, i like that about my mouse software with the multiple profiles. that way when im wearing my earbuds for games and stuff i got 1 profile and when im casually listening to streams with my monitor speakers i can have a profile for that, the only thing with voice meeter is that i feel like the only option you need is the VM potato seems like the interface is better and easily more spread out on that version.
An awesome video! Thank you very much for highlighting this. 😄👍👍
Cheers to you, my man! 🥃🥃
My pleasure!
Is it possible with this to make the sound from an app go to 2 different sound devices at the same time ?
i use an application called Soundpad to play music and sounds through my microphone. if i change how my mic sounds would that also affect how music would sound? for example if i add more bass to my mic will it also add bass to songs i play through my mic? if so i would love to know if there is a way around this so i can tweak how my mic sound without it having an affect on the music
can you use it with a midi device to change the volume for example?
Can you send all of the input devices to one output device. So lets say a mic, game audio, chat audio over to just one virtual output device?
is this good for Zoom Conferences? I use my desktop for zoom depositions. I'm a court reporter. Does it make it clearer?
Oh, thanks bro. I began to feel like I could build a spaceship with what I learnt using Voicemeeter, my god! This is way simpler.
I have this(sonar)...wired nova pro's...but stero WITHOUT using the sonar spatial...I can tell left right front and behind MUCH MUCH better with it turned off. Am I doing something wrong? Good old stero without spatial on seems best...turn spatial on seems to just blend left n right together and add a small echo.
i used this software felt a little delay in micrphone sound when using OBS is there a workaround that
I hit the like button! Thank you for your guide. I unfortunately learned Voicemeeter Banana first but this option looks way better for me as I totally wrekt my voicemeeter out of frustration
This app is for beginners, for those who don’t need every source, I don’t think I was misleading with pros and cons in this video
@@TheFranswahStudio Oh I know you weren't! I'm saying basically that I feel stupid for not knowing about this easier option sooner, that's nothing wrong with you or your videos! You're good lol
@@TheFranswahStudio I edited to reword it better too btw! ^ ^
I don't stream, only game and teach. After watching your voicemeeter vids a thousand times...I'm making the switch after class..ggs thx bud!
Glad I could help!
Thank you very much for this video the fact that you can so easily choose raising the sound for you independently from the stream it's so intuitive and not uselessly complicated for people that are not into the audio stuff voicemeeter did a lot of apps but they're kind of all the same user interface have a good day thank you ;)
I have been looking for software that can emulate stereo speakers. Meaning I select two audio device, define which one is which channel, and I get left audio on the left device and right audio on the right one. I am currently using my (shitty) build in speakers cause spotifiy ads killed the other ones (300% volume on ads, is that even legal?). So now I have two monitors but I only get sound on one. Or the same sound from both which is nauseating.
Can this software do it? I pretty close to just writing my own.
"Before we get started, let's grab our voicemeeter, and throw it in the trash."
The getting started:
*VoiceMeeter input*
*VoiceMeeter aux input*
*VoiceMeeter aux output*
It does look like a great program, but it's not a VM killer or replacement. It's an EQ software that happens to have routing, not an actual audio mixer/router as VM is. Yes, if you're running a simple enough setup to be using base VM, this may be a viable replacement. But as soon as you step to Banana let alone Potato, it's apples to oranges. There's a LOT of people I'd recommend Sonar to over VM - but that's because VM would have been a compromise choice from the get go, not because this is a direct replacement. They're different programs for different applications.
Now, if a company wants to release a VoiceMeeter peer that natively accepts VST plugins? That would be a replacement I'd jump right on, even for a small cost
The main point of this video is to talk about a software that has the potential AND most importantly has the EASE of use that I have been talking about for years.. Voicemeeter is far to complicated for the average user.. it could be setup in a way that is much more simple.. and something will come of this. whether its this app or the next..
also thats just b-roll mate.. recorded prior to the recording of the video without my mic setup.. just used what i had.
Does this have a delay like in voicemeter when using ndi dual pc stream?
Hi, can I combine both? because I have tried and I have everything configured correctly but, all the audios go through voicemeter and do not go through steelseries, help me please and thanks
I have some problem about Sonar Clips , When i enable my microphone i only hear my mic no desktop sound , but when i disable my microphone i can hear my desktop sound , like i can choose only 1 type of it .. can you help me fix? cuz i really love Sonar GG
I use VM due to my crappy 2 pc set up - can this still be used bearing in mind I need that solution?
How do you make Spotify play through your mic tho too
How do you play music through mic using this? Thanks a ton!
How do we mix the music like from spotify?
Does this app give delay for the game sound? My son complaint when using voicemeter his game sound is abit delay
Yep, not convinced, I enjoy voicemeeter complexity more, gives me more control over my stuff even if its not for dummies
It’s not the perfect alternative but it’s a start. I think devs will watch this video and start to understand what we actually want.
Voicemeeter has great midi support and multiple outputs ..
@@tonygardner4077 yes Tony you’re not wrong and I fully understand that.. but, VM also hasn’t changed at all in 4 years after consistently receiving feedback. There are better practices for a virtual mixer.. and I am hoping I can make a better app in time :)
Voicemeter took me 2hrs to set up 1st time then I had to re install windows and all settings got reset. Been putting it off for weeks this is a quicker option.
@@HighValueTargetRacing much quicker option if all you need is game and chat audio
Can this also be applied to discord rather than just streams and recordings?
Hi! GREAT VIDEO! Have tested using the AUTOEQ settings for your headphones In The SteelSeries Sonar app instead of Equalizer APO? do you think that would WORK? 🤔🤙🤓
Is there also a way to make the mic sound better like the intellipan from VoiceMeerer? And how is the delay compared to VoiceMeeter? I don't know how to setup an equalizer.
the equalizer would be what you use to adjust your vocals
Yes!! Got this with my SteelSeries Atics 9. Love it!!
When I clip my game with medal or nvidia capture the audio is so low you can’t even hear it, changing my headphones from steelseries. I have the nova pro wireless
can you use this for playing music in games
thank u for this my man, voicemeeter is a little too hard for me to use as a person who doesnt really know anything about computers or audio or what-have-you. very simple to use program and i dont have too many programs i want to reroute audio for so its perfect. very much thank you for the educational video!!
I honestly dont stream I just need something plug and play to tweak a couple of quirks with my mic and this is perfect for that
Hi! Can this application be used in normal mode (do not make stream) just for games? Is it compatible with other headphones or other speakers?
Yes it’s technically made just for gaming
So my friends want me to play music through my mic for them and it works, except I can’t hear the audio but they can. How do I fix that
Do you need steel series headphones for this
But does it have VBAN or a way to send the audio from my gaming pc to my streaming pc?
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN IVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH RTX VOICE THIS SAVED ME LIKED AND SUBBED
Your gear links in the description are broken. Can you check and update it?
Thank you
I use IL Minihost Modular with VM and you can put on whatever free VSTs you want to adjust your sound once you set it up. I'm running an additional noise gate, real time noise removal, a de-esser, a compressor, very tiny bit of reverb to get some more naturalness back in the voice... etc... sadly I think I'm addicted to doing neat audio setups now and wouldn't want to go back to "one size fits all" type apps... but certainly they could have appeal for people that just want to jump in and record.
the custom EQ has a critical problem where some apps effect default audio and stack recording audio and then you listen to exact same footage in editing software it sounds different
no one bothers to talk about it and its a common problem for small creators
Cool! For something in between raw start and high end setup
Is it possible to use this also for discord?
Yes, discord would work under the communications device within the app
THANK YOU so much man watched your other banana video n it was great then I changed one thing and lost it all LMAO... so you saved me with this.
Oh wow it's so amazing, I just install it and damn man it works like a hot knife on butter. Thanks for the video.
the background noise option will not change and I have no clue how to fix it could you help by chance?
good tools but only 3 virtual source for mix? virtual potato you have 4... I look for a software with more.... do you know one ?
Going to keep an eye on this one, It has potential. Thanks for keeping us honestly informed.
You’re welcome Melvin
does it allow me to set a delay for the audio higher than 500ms? I have a dual PC set up for streaming and the capture card on the second pc is older and has a delay for around 1300ms. very noticeable to see my cam and mic reaction a full second before what shows on screen but when I set a delay in voice meter it wont go higher than a 500ms delay :( I want to capture all audio from my gaming pc on a delay and then send it to the streaming pc so the mic and cam match the action screen. Anyone have a solution that doesn't involve buying a new capture card?
A Mic adjustment video for SteelSeries Sonar would be great to see.
What does it mean by chat audio? Like other players mics?
How the big question is how would you work it with a duel Pc setup?
can you use both apps at the same time?
But can it output to 2 hardware devices at the same time ?
Nice video, but do I need to select my voicemeeter input and output for the setup or should I select my normal mic and speaker?
You don’t - it’s compatible with anything that works on windows
Why does Sonar app bug whole pc and makes it to 100% in processes after messing with settings?
Honestly Steelseries knocked it out of the park with Sonar. now I only need one app for everything and the spatial audio is magical. for the first time i knew exactly where someone was in a game just by hearing them
Would you recomend this for someone who isn't streaming, but recording gaming lets plays?
I use an elgato wave mic and wave link but would love to be able to eq sound so I can hear footsteps better
can i open spotify music in mic and how
this only works with steelseries products right ?
Can you route your DAW though it?
im using sonar and its great.. but still need to make it change EQ according to what app is running and take it back to default once app is closed
if you wanted to, you could use something like virtual audio cable and create an audio driver per application and then use windows volume manager to set which applications output to that virtual output device. then in obs you just add an audio capture source for the virtual output device and Robert is your Cousin's dad. then you just do all your mixing inside of obs and optionally in the advanced audio panel, monitor the output of that source so that it comes through your speakers/headphones.
^^^
@@Grillordy because of your reply, I will update my answer - OBS now has direct application level audio capture which means that you can use window's volume manager you can send applications to an audio device you don't hear output from (either VAC or simply an audio output you don't have anything plugged into (like a digital out or speaker out you don't use if you have one available), and capture the audio from the individual applications individually and mix them in obs. if you want to monitor them, you can choose "output and monitor" from obs settings so you can hear them as well (and the monitor is at the END of the audio chain so you hear any and all filters you've applied as well as it will appear in the video/stream output.)
Your brain is way too big, im not reading that but appreciate the detailed contribution
can i play music from my spotify through to my mic, if so how
I see the first problems of that program, for example, the new call of duty modern warwafe 2, won't let me play in fulscreen exclusive mode, in case I use steelseries gg audio stuff... hopefully the developers will fix it, and I won't have to use 10 programs with VST plugins
does this work for any headphones or only steel series ?
Any headset works
