This is great tutorial, but it affects only the stream sound. What about improving sound quality your teammates hear in Discord or in-game voice comms?
You can now apply these vst's directly to your mic in Wave Link, so it applies to your mic everywhere. It creates a new output with 'FX' at the end, indicating it's the source with the vst's added. Voila.
This is great. Very clear and helpful. Needed something like this. Though the Nvidia broadcast app does good job of removing noise this is fantastic to make things sound even better!
This only applies to audio for the stream, if you wanted to have nice eq, gated and compressed audio you could just set up plugins using equalizerapo and apply it directly to the mic as opposed to applying to obs
Great video! But, what happen if I'm using RTX Voice? Does it work the same? Always watching your streams and videos, they are really helpful. And better for us, when we have to do everything for ourself. Greetings from Nicaragua.
Yes, it works the same, you just have to apply the filters to the audio output of RTX Voice. Be aware though, RTX Voice impacts audio quality, use it only if you can't remove the noise from your environment.
Follow the steps shown in this video & stop using RTX Voice. RTX Voice is Noise Suppression, which is an alternative to Noise Gate, though not as good in terms of sound quality. Never ever use Noise Suppression and Noise Gate together. Use one or the other, with the approach of Noise Suppression being you last resort desperate measure to eliminate background noise. And if you feel you absolutely prefer Noise Suppression instead of Noise Gate, the don't use RTX Voice. Use the ReaFir plugin that is part of the Reaper Plugin package. Watch Frugal Streamer's video on how to set up ReaFir properly. It's super easy.
@@Cynical_Finch Thank you, this is a great help. I just cant get by without RTX voice because it helps with more than just the OBS side of things. How do I make it sound better in just Windows as a whole?

Perfect, got the wave one a while ago thanks to your input. Was looking for a video like this to improve my vocal sound quality, this video will really help. Thanks!
That is the purpose of the compressor, you will not need any extra clipguards (I presume the clipguard is a compressor itself, with default blanket rule settings..)
But wait. Does this only apply when recording with only the microphone as your output? Because when you stream using wavelink, you output from one source to have full control of all your audio sources while streaming. Sooo..wouldn't adding filters on OBS also apply them on all your other audio sources linked to the wavelink software? Kind of ruins the purpose of trying to get better sounding audio AND using the wavelink software while streaming
I would suggest muting your microphone in the wavelink software completely. Then from wavelink send all other sounds to your streaming software. Then in your streaming software, add your mic as its own source. This will then allow you to add filters to the mic and not change the incoming wavelink sounds. Hope this helps.

As an Audio Engineer & Producer of 20 years, I can honestly say that the dumbest thing that has taken over streamers & content creators is how ignorant they've become thinking they need to spend $500 - $5000 on a mic and audio set up. 99% of the time in your content, you're just talking. You're not Chester Bennington or Mariah Carey, so stop spending money on audio gear as if you are. Every streamer & youtuber that has blown money on an SM7B (or better) & a GoXLR mixer has literally thrown money away & bought into audio snake oil. Honestly, if any of them new just the bare basics of audio engineering, they'd all have buyers remorse & feel insanely dumb. Unless your content/streams are centered around music production, there's factually no reason to spend more than $300 on your entire audio set up; Mic, Interface (or not if mic is usb), cables, mic stand, & filters (pop or wind). $300 max, all in. Could even be done for less than that. Don't be dumb about it. there are literally 20+ amazing youtube channels that are devoted to educating audio noobs on basic audio engineering practices, all of which are easy to find. Spend 30 mins watching some of their tutorials & save your self $Hundreds, if not $Thousands.
This. I own a Blue Yeti, A Samson G-Track Pro, and Two Mini DSP UMIK-1's. Everyone I voice chat with says the UMIK-1 sounds better than both those mics. how can I loop myself as an audio source like in obs if I'm making it in eq apo?
I just used these tips on Final Cut Pro and my audio improved aa lot on recording videos!!! Thanks a lot, Amazing video!
love the office reference
wow it was helpful, none other guides were as near as helpful as this one, cuz it has eq and other plugins explanation. pretty detailed
Had the same question. I know that you can make it sound better on stream, but what about on discord and such. How do I make it sound good in general?
@@Cynical_Finch Thank you, this is a great help. I just cant get by without RTX voice because it helps with more than just the OBS side of things. How do I make it sound better in just Windows as a whole?
@@patdrip5717 The answer is EqualizerAPO! It's easy to use, lightweight and supports any VST plugin (even the same used in this video).
Thank you for this video, I changed my eq a bit (1 a bit higher and 3 a bit further and lower) and I can hear a huge difference!
this was a great video. My headset mic still sounds...well...like a crappy headset mic, but there are some slightly better tones in there now that I have tweaked a few things. This is good practice when I get an Elgato mic myself! Just patiently waiting for my sweet sweet payout lol
Did you end up getting the mic???
@@johnnyguyzer5852 sure did. The wave 3. Best purchase ever. Elgato really makes some quality equipment imho.
Thank you very much for spending the time and showing EXACTLY what to do and more importantly WHY you do it. Thank you! :)
"Most of you probably have a mic like this $120 one"
Me: cries in broke
@Nyx Hypnos headset mics can be ok, i had the Turtle Beach wired for my xBox at one point and that seemed to work fine or you can also try to get (a little more expensive and if you play on xbox one) the xBox adapter by Turtle Beach (i think)
@Nyx Hypnos but a good usb budget mic is a FiFine USB, it should be around $35 (just for the mic and mini stand) or $80 for the whole set.
Ive watched you for so long
Harris i watched the live subscriber count on social blade watching you hit 400k congratulations you deserve it you have done so many things to help small youtubers and streamers ive applied many of your tips.
I need this so much god.
@‹ Donny › bad mounting tho
Bruh the eglgato looks bad and it doesent even sound that good compared to another microphone. Literally the fifine 669 is Better then this stupid 300 dollar legato microphone. The fifine sounds better and looks better
@‹ Donny › the fifine 669 is even better
@@knox3309 $300!? Bruh the wave one is only $130
Ryan and Harris you guys are the best, Thank you!!!
nobody is goin to say anything about Ryan "typing" on an invisible keyboard and staring at a wall without a monitor at the very beginning?
Holllll up let me check this out
Update: lol
I cannot tell you HOW much this helped me, thank you so much! I have a pretty loud AC unit in my room and messing with these plug ins....TOTAL game changer. Again, thank you!
I just installed REAPER, and in the middle of the installation process, it said "Extract: hugebooty."
The heck is that supposed to mean.

Perfect, got the wave one a while ago thanks to your input. Was looking for a video like this to improve my vocal sound quality, this video will really help. Thanks!
I've been diving into audio perfection for my stream, and this will work as the verification check hahaha to see if I did what I needed to
thanks guys, i've used your tips for my yeti nano and it sound really good out of obs!!
06:12 - The whooo.. Was clipgaurd on or off and does this change anything for compressing? Or do i just overthink this?
I'd feel clipguard was on. With the wave, there should never be a reason to turn it off XD
That is the purpose of the compressor, you will not need any extra clipguards (I presume the clipguard is a compressor itself, with default blanket rule settings..)
Bro your my fav UA-camr/streamer I get excited every time you upload
I swear everyones OBS layout always looks different and im like "what kind of plebes version do I have...?"
Putting this into practice now with my new Mic that came today!! Great advice!!
I was wondering the same thing.
I would suggest muting your microphone in the wavelink software completely. Then from wavelink send all other sounds to your streaming software. Then in your streaming software, add your mic as its own source. This will then allow you to add filters to the mic and not change the incoming wavelink sounds. Hope this helps.
@@benchtophobbies8332 Genius, you're absolutely right, thanks for the tip!
@@joekingz7286 glad to help!
@@benchtophobbies8332 Thank you! How do i use it in a dual-pc-setup? do i control everything with the streaming pc? i only use 1 monitor for both pcs...
I say it aloud all the time. Today I'm going to write it here, on the off chance you look: Thank you for all of the things you do to help us succeed. The information you present is incredibly useful. The tools and assets you provide are helping all of us. We appreciate all of it. We're thankful. Cheers to hoping I get to shake your hand someday.

him: taylor swift isn't going to be recording and album on this thing anytime soon
me, listening to taylor swift while watching this video: 👁👄👁
Perfect Timing!
Great Video. 😁
The UMIK-1 is cheaper, smaller, and has multiple uses (since it's actually a measurement microphone.). I've had an XLR Mic + Interface in the past, but USB is the way to go.
This is such an amazingly informative video, you guys rock, thank you!
OMG thanj you so much guys ive been lookin for this tutorial for WEEKS Love
I've been getting into streaming and making videos again after a 5 year break. Can't tell you how much the videos have helped.
Ive watched this before, but Didn't understand but now I do!
It was really Helpful. I did different comparisons like before and after and different Tones of Voices and Higher Mic Volume and Lower Mic Volume on the Volume Nob Thanks Alpha So Much!
This is just what I needed, Thanks to both fo you!
