I saw Whitney live and lived to talk about it lol. It’s an experience that I will never forget. I felt every emotion on the spectrum. She used her gift like no one else. She was a true blessing from God and I am so thankful that she shared her amazing gift with all of us. She’s the only voice that I never get tired of hearing.
I can only underline that, I also saw three of her concerts, two of them in her absolute prime (i.e. 1988 in Wembley) and once just a very little beyond prime (but still unbeatable up to today)…I also will never forget these precious moments, I go on everybody‘s nerves in my family and with my friends because I am talking about these event so often and much even today :) She really was the greatest voice of all (at least to me). Thanks God for having shared this angel of music with us. Miss you deeply Whitney…forever

So complex her way of dealing with extreme volume fluctuations while singing up and down in chest and in head and everything in between ... while executing long melismatic phrases and even while executing the trickiest articulations. She capable of keeping an even scale while executing staccati in pianissimo, upward scales executed on a crescendo, Staccatissimo arpeggios in pianissimi etc
And this song is so tough. The key changes make it so hard. The long dramatic phrases are killers for the mosquitoes, but not for Whitney. They require huge chest voice,stamina, strength, perfect pitch ... so many things to deal with ... that’s why people avoid this song. People tend to believe that so squeaky high notes make a song difficult, but nope! Even in opera, some of the most difficult arias don’t even reach the soprano high C!

It was 1987 or 88, because I saw her in Syracuse New York at the State Fair on her tour for her Whitney album and let me tell you... No wait... LET ME TELL YOU... This girl came to sing Yes she did and did she ever It's probably one of the most vocally amazing concerts I've ever seen in my life She didn't need no flare She didn't need no fireworks She just needed that voice and boy did she use it I was so upset because we almost were the one she used for the video for this song cuz she used the light performance but they went with the one that was in Saratoga New York instead But that's all right I still got to see her and that means something in my life That is a milestone for sure to say you've seen the glorious Ms Whitney Houston in concert guess indeed That's something you could shout from a rooftop! And in her heyday at that yes indeed!

In her prime Whitney was an outstanding performer. Her live performances beat her studio records by miles. Seeing her live in concert 1988 was an unbelievable experience - never forget.
I was at that concert. I surprised my younger sister (she’s 51 now 😂 don’t tell her I’m outing her age...and mine 😳) with The Moment Of Truth tour tickets because we both loved Whitney. By then this was my 3rd time seeing her in concert. The Greatest Love tour (her first solo tour) and when she opened for Luther Vandross.
Hello Gorgeous. As I’m laying here recouping I must say that this was one of the very first live performances of Whitney that I fell in love with when it came out. I would make the whole house get quiet. My dad (RIP Daddy) would sit and often comment “how does that BIG voice come out of that tiny little woman??!!” The entire audience was just mesmerized by her voice. The way Whitney would take you on a journey through her voice was so fantastic you would want more. That’s why after only 5 years into her career she was inducted into the songwriters hall of fame, not for writing, but for the way she would interpret her music/songs. This woman, this legend, this iconic lady is still making and breaking records. The only person of color with 3 diamond albums. The only black female artist with 1 billion views on UA-cam. There was just something so special about her. The Voice.

My favorite performance of my favorite Whitney song. The audacity she had to go on stage and massacre that entire audience with them vocals!
The spectrum of volumes she used to cover was just HUGE!
She could sing from “nothing- niente” to very loud ( fortissimo) and execute every feat in between.
By the way, this song is DAMN DIFFICULT! Okay? Lyric passages, dramatic passages, key changes ... it is just damn hard to keep an balance. That’s why everybody avoid it! You are gonna end up screaming trying to deal with the long “dramatic phrases”.
Exactly! She covered every dynamic in this performance. So many singers today live in mezzo forte and forte. She gave us the full spectrum. Especially that ending?! That crescendo on “all” coming from almost nothing. Amazing
The thing with this song live was, it was that moment in the show where she just drew it right back pulled everything back and stripped it right down because she did change the arrangement of this song significantly This is more of a mellow jazz sound to it The original recording has a lot more instrumentation going on with it., She had just got through tearing it up with a little more gospel sound and right after this she went intoa little Anita Baker tribute with Sweet Love medley combined with Control from Janet.... So this was bookmark by some pretty powerful stuff so she had to bring it down so lol I think the best song on this tour the moment of truth tour that is, Was love will save the day she tore up that song and for sure!

My aunt saw whitney in 1985 in houston texas. I was only one years old so my recollection of whitney is from 1988 on forward i can remember my teachers in grade school always talking about whitney the next day after shed perform on tv. They also played "the greatest love of all" every morning before school started. Right after the prayer and pledge of allegiance

I must admit that the welcome home heroes was my very favorite concert of Whitney's. I remember waiting for it to air on HBO back then in 1991 and I recorded it and had that unedited version for many years. There is a big difference between the two performances of this song. Both of course were beautiful.

But one more thing I got to say if you're going to react to any Whitney song.... You should definitely give..."One Moment In Time" live a reaction that song to this day when she sings it still makes me tear up She just puts such conviction in it and you know it's coming from that place.

This was in year 1987. Did you realize Whitney’s voice sounded diferent from 85-87 then from 88-91 and finally from 92-94 (all prime years)? Her voice matured and grew overtime, i am mostly blown away by her first years, though! 😉
It was because Clive Davis tried to make her into a bubble gum pop star and tried to make her sound Caucasian Whitney hated that type of racist crap so after people noticed at the soul train awards the difference she started doing her own thing. If it wasn't for that Whitney probably would've sounded way different smh it reminds me of how the industry did Britney spears making her sound like a child.
Its because she's singing EVERYDAY without any rest.
Her voice wouldn't last 15 years if she used bad techniques,her techniques saved her from losing her voice.

Yes ma’am I saw her live in ATL in 2000. All I can say is the little tiny woman had the voice of a heavyweight. It resounded through that venture like a morning rain band them somewhere along the way a thunderstorm came up. Idc about her personal struggles. This woman deserved more than what the world gave her back in the years before her death. She was bigger than MJ after the Bodyguard. Much respect to her!

I was at her 1998 concert in Germany All I remember was singing every song and this little German Girl looks at me and says "be quiet " it was so funny ... But the best when the concert was over .. Nippy surprised us with a Encore of its not right but its ok ...it was amazing ..i really miss her ... RIP Nippy and Benjamin Love u. both .
Clive Davis wanted Whitney to sound like a bubble gum pop star around this time he tried to suppress her vocal ability he didn't want her sounding black which is why In the 90s she started to really soar she was starting to get tired of him and wanted more flexibility, but even though he tried to suppress her in this era during the 80s she still couldn't be stopped, Whitney vocals couldn't be changed or fucked with. People accused her of whitewashing during this time she suffered because of that idiot Clive especially in 85 so I think around the time she did this song she started adding her own flavor. She truly evolved and I honestly liked her vocals all throughout the 80s but it is a difference between the 80s and 90s.
