Thanks for the info, I'd been tempted looking at these for how much it reminded me of some trench lighters and wasn't aware of the downsides As an extra thank you I just got back from five days in the back country and your cotton repack and bag trick kept my lighter going long after my buddies were out of their keychain refills. Always nice to have some extra bragging rights around the fire.
Hahaha no way ! I loved reading that. U guys were all using zippos and urs outlasted everyone’s haha. So glad to be apart of that camp fire informative story.
I know they soot up the wick and what not, but i do like them in my Armors. It can be tedious, but once the Zippo runs dry, a little wet q-tip down in there cleans up okay and gets some of the soot off the wick. Then you use a different lighter for the day and refill it the next and you're good to go.
I have the original Zippo butane with the flint sparker (now discontinued), and another Zippo with the genuine Zippo butane insert (single jet...l thought the double jet was too much). No more problems with leaking, rashes on my thighs from lighter fluid, and now...true hot, windproof flames. I keep a couple of the regular Zippo fuel lighters around for the apocalypse, for their ability to use multiple fuels...but l don't EDC them anymore.
No buddy I never ended up doing it because I learned it would only work if u wanted to never use your zippo. I use mine and even in a sealed insert. It will only last me as long as my regular insert. Because there’s only so many lights in the insert. Just like a car only gets so many miles per gallon.
You're the only guy I watch if I need anything to know on zippo. But I'm in a bit of a pinch. I'm gonna get a new zippo lighter (I already have 2, one matte black and the other chrome), and I'm kinda stuck between 4 choices. 41 black crackle, 41 chrome, vintage look, and normal black crackle. Which would you recommend? Love from Malaysia, love your vids.
I still love zorro inserts since they’re still flat and fit well. Do you know how to remove the protective layer of resin on a street brass zippo? I want it to tarnish a bit more.
Hello! I was interested in getting the rose gold armor that you always rave about! If I ordered it, what are the chances I could send it to you for a design? Thanks in advance!!
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors hell yeah , i don't know if ya saw that mazzi had a 100 run for the artist live stream $500 big ones each one is hand air brushed

Hey! Zorro is now making colored standard fuel inserts. Theres a rainbow one, ice blue one and a black one. Theres even a solid copper one. I bought a blue and black one to test the durability of the finish compared to the black one Zippo came out with a year ago.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I haven't got them yet, might be a month out because it's arriving on the slow boat from China, you know how it is lol. I'll let you know once I get some use on them for sure though.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Do you need a link to it? You actually can't get the insert by itself, you have to buy it with one of those weird clear plastic Zippo style shell. I guess it's that new.
I don't think it's a novelty. My steel bottomed gasketed gear striker chimney cap in my gasketed titanium war armor is tge most fuel efficient lighter I have hands down
I've carried two of those inserts. On the first one the hinge plunger broke from fidgeting too much. Carried it in an Armor Zippo. You can blame it on my but that's never happened with a zippo insert. On my second one there is no spark when I strike the wheel. I carried it for almost two years and in a Titanium War Armor type case like yours. I was striking it once or twice a month since I had noticed it get fuzzy on the flint. I changed the flint 4 times and cleaned out the insert but no luck.

Waxing the insert will help as well. That plus the bag will work wonders.

Replace the chimney cap with a regular cam piece and you have a solid brass insert.

Does the chimney help prevent with evaporation?

Rubbing alcohol
Or acetone (fingernail polish remover). I soaked mine overnight and the clear coat rubbed/peeled off.
Quick question, is it normal for my wick to have the fiber glass exposed at the top?
