I got my Zippo fixed about a year ago and yes, pin is hollow! They fixed hinge, even i send it because insert. But it's cool they did that, it was getting loose. I would not have noticed that without this video. This was interesting, nice video again!
I just stuck a tiny little finishing nail through the hinges after the pin bent. Works much better than the original pin. Feels much more solid and closes tighter. Cheers from Montreal
I sent my EDC in last year after I lost the pin and the lid fell off. It's an Armor so the lid was always kind of wobbly since new. By the time i lost the pin well after 10 years it was like a goose neck. I sent it in, got it back repaired in 28 days. Its been a year and its still nice & tight and properly aligned with no under or over bite or lid gap along the body when fully closed. So yeah, when you get them back from repair they are far better than new. I can't see light coming through the pin so i think mine is solid.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Exactly. There is a BIG difference from how they are made and repaired. I bet the guy that does the repairs on the hinges really knows his knack. They are PERFECT when he is done with them.
I never noticed that thier replacement hinges are different. I did get a couple with the hollow pins last year when I sent some in to get fixed. Great video!!!
Been doing pretty good. Was my b-day yesterday, took a little drive antique store hopping. Didn't find much though. Prices have just been ridiculous lately around here.
Thanks Jake. I filmed this video 5 months ago and I still can’t find these pins lol they have similar on Amazon but they are too large. So now I’m tearing apart scrap electronics and appliances to find one. Unsuccessfully lol
I recieved my Zippo that I send to the clinic to fix the insert. They changed the pin from the original hinge too, which made it without the insert on that tight as you show on the video. Is this normal to be like that ? Or should I lubricate or something the hinge ? Thanks.
They hold up great. As long as u don’t do tricks or drop them with the lid open. My edc have been armors for years. They all good. Expect the one I broke doing tricks on lol

In Canada when we send it to Hyde do we have to put our info in the package as well? Or does Hyde distribution know that all packages need to be sent to Bradford?
Yeah put a note in the package with return address. They know it goes to bradford. Don’t put your inserts in there. U get all new ones for free anyways.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors thanks man. My flint tube insert is broken and it’s a Niagara Falls slim zippo, should I still be good without putting the insert?

Thanks. Do you know by chance if all these personalized Zippos were commissioned in the Zippo factory or companies like Camel, Marlboro, etc. bought a standard model and customized it elsewhere? What do you know about the Zippo Armor 500 Million June 5, 2012 limited edition? It’s a bit steep but I was thinking of investing in it because the box includes a special blank that they use for making Zippos, plus June 5th is my birthday so I thought it was meant to be.

@@aronVincze ok so if u did that. It’s way to tight around the chimney. That’s why it’s doing that. U need to repack it. Very common problem when people do it for the first time. Your choking the wick. Take it out loosen it up.
