  • In this video I will talk with you all about considerations to have when setting up your RV with solar. I talk about my setup, some lessons learned, and things I would 100% do the same if I had to do it all over again. Thanks for watching :)
Also, shoutout to my friends ‪@thewanderingshores‬ who I chat about @ the 4:50 timeframe.

Cody you ROCK... Thanks for the shoutout. We are still loving our new fridge. Great ideas on how to size your solar setup. Safe travels- Kyle and Michelle

One thing you NEVER hear anyone mention about locating the system is balance on the trailer. It may not be an issue with a 12,000-pound fifth wheel, but things like 3,000-pound cargo trailer conversions are more sensitive to issues like tongue weight given that the electrical system may be one of the heaviest single components in the vehicle. The good news is that cargo trailers are pretty much a blank slate, so you have a lot of options.

Very informative great delivery. How would a wind generator affect your setup? And do youthink it would be worthwhile.

I’ve thought about wind generators but there are a couple considerations to keep in mind. Smaller ones require a lot of wind and frankly I’m trying to avoid places that are as windy as those small ones require. Big ones are impractical to move around to each campsite. At this point, I’ll stick with the sun! Thanks for watching :)

I am a little confused about the combo inverter/charger and how the previous charger is now only utilized for the DC outlets/appliances. Can you give more detail on that part? I am currently putting together a system for my small camper. I have not yet purchased the new inverter or charger. Your system seems to do exactly what I aim for. Thanks very much.

The original DC converter takes 120v from the outlets and provides 12v for the pump, lights, etc since my lithium batteries are 24v. It’s not the most efficient, but I have that factored in and no longer need a 12v battery. Happy to answer more questions if they come up! :)

Would love to know what the idle consumption on your MPP is while just running the existing RV converter to go down to 12v.

The MPP idle consumption is about 45w and with the converter on with 12v lights etc, my total idle consumption is about 52w. Thanks for watching :)

Boy, that's a lot of information. You know, since you are working with a low subscriber number, you probably should have split this up into 8 videos. Each being 10-12minutes, with an initial 30sec intro about the series, and a 20sec ending promoting the next in the series. Being a "young" channel you can successfully do that and when you get it done, just take this one down. Also check your speeling on your graphics 😁 You had Caluclate instead of Calculate. Love your channel, (maybe because of the dog).

Hey thank you for the feedback! I will absolutely take this into consideration for future videos! Thanks for watching :)
