  • I drove his car too and it was awesome. The 370Z is like a switch blade - it can cut through the track very quickly but you have a high chance of getting stabbed in the process. The GR86 is like a surgeon's scalpel - it gives you the feedback to cut through the course with high precision. It is very forgiving at the limit which makes it a blast in autocross.
    Modifications (STU SCCA Class):
    2009 Nissan 370Z
BC BR Coilovers - 16/32C, 16/32R front and rear (I'll need to turn compression way up for next event)
    Eibach front sway bar
    No rear sway bar
    BF Goodrich Rival 1.5S 315/30/18
Stillen Intake and Cat Back Exhaust
    Berk high flow catalytic converter
    Quaife LSD differential
Setrab Oil Cooler + Mishimoto Radiator
    Z1 2-piece rotors
UpRev Tune (from previous owner, I haven't confirmand the car is actually tuned)

Hey man, love the content and the Z. Do you have any pointers for a fellow Z driver looking to get comfortable with the oversteer at the limit? I track and autocross my 09 and am getting to the point where the VDC intervenes a ton on corner exit, but I've spun a few times with VDC off. Also planning to upgrade to a Quaife or Wavetrac over the winter. Thanks!

Thanks man! I've driven a lot of cars and the Z is the toughest to tame at the limit. Most people who try to drive mine end up spinning out. I have a quaife diff and it made a huge difference. I wired a switch to the yaw sensor and turn it off when racing. Seat time will get you comfy with oversteer... sim racing is a good alternative if you have a good computer

I'm guessing the BRZ limits are easier to approach.... I'm content with my nearly stock Z at 8-9/10ths on public roads. $150 front swaybar and stock suspension = enough compliance for our awful public roads... and it's "Enough" because you always end up stuck behind slower people. Do you have a recommendation for coilovers for public streets with similar ride height to stock - I'd love just a tad less NVH, but better handling - I am one of those people that absolutely do NOT want to have to deal with changing settings once per week - set it - forget it simplicity and predictability for street use is what I'm looking for. My car does see an occasional gravel road - thus I don't want that slammed "dude BRO" look, and attention from the ever increasing population of mouth breathers that simply look at my car because it's washed once per week.
I've heard decent things about Bc's and Koni yellows... Keep in mind - I ideally want to keep stock control arms but I could do those as well in order to keep tire costs down (good luck right!?)
