Great to hear I Am Waiting! I like the contribution Rick makes to that song and Jon is on absolute top form vocally. For me, Jon's singing with AWR has been among the best in his entire career. Unbelievable, especially as the guy is nearly 73!
Jon's voice sounds great here! after all his health issues & considering his age it's held up really well. Howe is a great guitarist & White has his place in Yes but for me without Anderson it just doesn't have that special magic only he can bring. Rick is by far the best keys player ever in Yes as well, no question..
That sucks. Virgil Howe did a Yes Remixes CD that was pretty good taking Yes tunes and mixing them in different ways. Sorry for Steve Howe and the rest of his family.
Wow. Some “Talk” material. An overall amazing show. The vocals certainly haven’t deteriorated. Very impressive at their ages. Instrumentally, they were ALL spot on. I’m still blown away by “South side of the sky”.....
jon anderson is so devoted to yes; and deserves everything he's doing to keep the spirit alive. so what if they did'nt rehire him, he just went; and reformed a better yes with other past members.
Agreed. It’s rare , but I love when Wakeman and Rabin perform together. So glad that they had Jon’s back and made this beautiful tour happen. With Squire gone, these guys sound so much better then the “other yes”.... If you have Wakeman on board, the sky is the limit. Rabin can hold his own snd then some, with ANY of the material. I really hope these guys put out so original material. That would be stellar.
I saw ARW -Oct 2016- at the Keswick, near Philadelphia. Blown away from the concert, 10th row. They looked great, sound was incredible, and Jon Anderson sounded better than ever! (I was a little disappointed though in the setlist that nothing from Talk was not being performed). It appeared that this new tour was just a repeat of last year- UNTIL NOW- on this video (Thank you for uploading!) First time I'm hearing this - "I am waiting" (since seeing Yes playing on the Talk tour in 1990 (with the original lineup on the record- Anderson, Rabin, White, Kaye and Squire- (Billy Sherwood was also on the record and tour). Based on what Trevor Rabin said during the interview before their ARW tour, they were planning on playing Shoot High Aim Low- one of their best songs, IMHO. He added there is enough songs to play at least 4 hours. No problem! You know Roundabout and All Good People are mainstream commercial and obligatory for old and new fans, but after seeing it done live over 20 times, I wouldn't be upset having it deleted and replaced with more tunes from Talk and Big Generator- the ones Trevor Rabin helped create. Perhaps as they are rehearsing the songs they haven't played for years, they will be playing the more complex music- Shoot high has some fantastic guitar work from Trevor, including the riffs with the twanging effect. Between that and their super musicianship, the slightly different variations they're giving to the songs they've been playing live, and Wakeman's even more layered keyboards, coupled with acoustically perfect venues- It's tempting to see then again- except for the insane ticket prices. (I lucked out when i went to the box office and got excellent seats at face value). They still haven't performed any of the new music they apparently have been working on. Nonetheless just seeing this band-the real Yes is mesmerizing. No doubt, they're here to stay!
@Larry Filmer Agreed all around. Wouldn’t mind them not doing one of the staples that I’ve seen live more then 30 times to having them perform some more rarities like “a venture”, shoot high aim low or even endless dream or miracle of life. But I have to say, seeing/hearing them perform south side of the sky and. “I am waiting” was absolute sonic bliss.
You are simply misguided and I forgive you. This isn't Yes. Here is a hint: If Trevor Rabin is on stage then what you are really dealing with is "Trevor Rabin with special guests Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, with a couple of session players on Bass and Drums." This isn't Yes. Not even close.
@rhart123 I like them both, but the Howe version is able to do any Yes song, and do. ARW has a fine niche it can sort of pull off, but in the end, cant deny Anderson as a critical element so it is a wash to me. I am not a fan of some of wakeman choices on the post 1978 material.
I like Howe as a guitarist, but he has fallen off his game recently. Toto blew this version of "Yes" out of the water 2 years ago. I would love to see ARW/YES! My favorites - Anderson and Wakeman - and I'm a guitarist who knows how to play most of their songs! Rabin isn't shabby!
I saw Rick July 7 in Gillingham, Dorset along with about 250 other geezers (I'm 65) for his last Piano Portraits concert (charity event) before this tour started in Germany. I've followed him & Yes since seeing them with T. Kaye in '71 on the Aqualung tour. Saw Yes with Rick in '77, '78 and '89 on the Union tour.
I wonder how Jon talked Rick out of retirement? I've seen more than one interview of different band members sating he gets you to do things and you don't even realize it until it's too late. lol Ricks 1st tour with Yes he hadn't even been told he was a member and only found out about the tour once it was already booked.
I was at this concert and IT was THE BOMB! would like to share, but the start time is set for the middle of the video and that really sucks when sharing.... how can you skip all that great music, please reset to start from beginning
High vibration go on...They made an absolute great live version of Awaken. But let me tell you a story : during Awaken, in the third part, I saw a man on the right, arms open wide, walking devoted to the music and his spirit. It's was a great moment. But what suddenly came ? A man took him and certainly talk to him, and ordered him to go back to his seat (certainly a seat for the poorest people in the back, hum ?). I would like to say to this man especially, who interrupted the man's levitation during this wonderful epic moment, that he is a complete idiot. He doesn't understand the spirit of Awaken. He is not awaken. And if you recognize yourself in this description : be ashamed of yourself. This moment made me sad, O poor of you !
"Was never able to capture the classic Yes sound." Good call Captain Obvious. That's because when Trevor was brought in it wasn't the classic Yes anymore. Thanks for your keen sense of insight. Lol.
My observation wrt to Trevor was, first, he was tons of fun, was great to hear some of the music from his era that never gets played by altYes (surprise) other than Owner; secondly, it seemed mostly he didn't even try to cop any of Steve's licks on Steve-classic songs, in fact, I think he had a kind of nasally, digitally distortion tone that was pretty down in the mix and saying "I'm not going to go there" - except on a couple of numbers, eg, Roundabout, which he did versions that were totally his, very rocking, and super fun. I sat (and this was recorded) right next to the sound board, so I think I received the intended sound ... the contrast of this show with the altYes show I saw Friday (ua-cam.com/video/MP_xYfs8xFE/v-deo.html) was that these guys were totally relaxed, totally open to rocking out on the music, no apologies, each of ARW totally confident that whatever they do, interpret, etc. it is a genuine ROR HoF Yes sound, period. Their sidemen (who were great) were just that, and they could step out as sidemen without having to "do" Chris or "do" Alan. Was super fun and a great palate cleanser to enjoy altYes Friday which lets face it, was getting a little stiff since Chris' passing (I've seen basically every tour since SLO).
LOL. Trevor covered Steve's work very well, adding his own character and rearranging as he saw fit (it was his band after all). Steve can't even play most of what Rabin has written. Steve's decent at pulling out an acoustic and semi-fingerpicking a tune, but Rabin is much better as a guitarist and writer. And singer. LOL.
I do wish people would stop calling ARW YES. It's an insult to Chris Squire! Rick Wakeman was always in and out of Yes. Yes would have ended years ago with him yoyoing about. Jon Anderson deserted Yes. Chris Squire asked Billy Sherwood to take his place on Bass with Yes. It's very much with thanks to Chris Squire that Yes did not fall apart. Let's be fair too about Alan White who has always been loyal to Yes with a history spanning more than forty years in the group. ARW is three former members of Yes covering Yes material and do it well, but they are not YES.
You are welcome to disagree but you havent said what exactly you disagree with Part of what I have stated or all of it? What i have stated is the reality of it. More reality: IF Jon Anderson were YES then Chris Squire could not have booted him out of YES the first time he left. That is when Jon Anderson gave up his claim to YES. His return to the fold was with the grace of Chris Squire, as it was with Rick Wakeman on more than one occasion. There is no reason why they cant celebrate YES music but to say they are YES is ridiculous and an insult to Chris Squire because his group is still here, and it is an insult to them. The members are his choice and YES has always been safe with Chris.
Great to hear I Am Waiting! I like the contribution Rick makes to that song and Jon is on absolute top form vocally. For me, Jon's singing with AWR has been among the best in his entire career. Unbelievable, especially as the guy is nearly 73!
Robin Johnson I'll attest to that! Saw them last year. See me comment also posted here!
Amazing to hear 'I Am Waiting' after all of this time!!!
John Vehadija agreed! Talk was my first Yes album and they do a great job with the song here
Really love Wakeman's part in this version!
I love this song and album. Last time I heard it live? 1994's 'Talk' tour! A vastly underrated album!
Saw it live in 94 with my now husband. Get to see it tonight in Minnesota. Yes!
So wonderful to see finally YES back after 12 years!!! Long live YES JON, RABIN and WAKEMAN!!
Jon's voice sounds great here! after all his health issues & considering his age it's held up really well. Howe is a great guitarist & White has his place in Yes but for me without Anderson it just doesn't have that special magic only he can bring. really feel for Howe at the moment, losing a Son must be so so difficult
That sucks. Virgil Howe did a Yes Remixes CD that was pretty good taking Yes tunes and mixing them in different ways. Sorry for Steve Howe and the rest of his family.
Agree, voice was especially strong this night. Is this is home court show?
Lee Pomeroy: I take my hat off! Lou Molino: cool!
Great to hesr them again....nice memories...beautifull song and great arrangements. Thanks for share
They are sounding so good. Very excited to hear them tomorrow night outside in Littleton.
I was waiting! TY Yes.
Wow. Some “Talk” material.

Jon Anderson is back!!!
I was waiting for I Am Waiting. So emotional! And look at all those geezers jump out of their seats for Owner of Lonely Heart. LOL!
Rabin did well here!
Amazing
this yes is way more in sync that the steve howe yes is; and have by far the better keyboardist; and singer/founder.
ken Chamberlain no question about it. Great to see the setlist being added with music from talk

Awaken - the Best Yes song ever!

ARW covered "I am Waiting," quite well! It's good to see that song in the ARW set list!
It's not a cover if you wrote the song!!
"Rick Wakeman"! yayyyyy
The best concert would be Jon doing, "Olias"... and Rick doing "Journey To Center".
OH man... I'd go anywhere to see that.
Agreed. Two magical albums.
Heart of the Sunrise was amazing!
I wonder how Jon talked Rick out of retirement? I've seen more than one interview of different band members sating he gets you to do things and you don't even realize it until it's too late. lol
Ricks 1st tour with Yes he hadn't even been told he was a member and only found out about the tour once it was already booked.
Nice recording!
Nice!
When I said "this version of Yes, I was alluding to Howe Davison, White, Downes, Sherwood.
I was at this concert and IT was THE BOMB! would like to share, but the start time is set for the middle of the video and that really sucks when sharing.... how can you skip all that great music, please reset to start from beginning
They were playing well this night. Much better without the Price Is Right backdrop, no backdrop would be ideal, but this is better.
two "new" songs...great!
Amelloc not new at all. This is from Talk released in 1990. It's new to the setlist.
1994, dawg.
How I wrote.."new" :^)...
Lift me up (First set ) from the Union album Just Dope guys
it's magically delicious !
People want songs ! When "Owner of a lonely heart" came out, this people turned quite crazy...
Where the hell is Tony kaye when you REALLY need him?
High vibration go on...They made an absolute great live version of Awaken.

This moment made me sad, O poor of you !
and pardon my french !
tony kaye, bill bruford, benoit david, trevor horn. (a possible third yes) lol maybe get alex lifeson on guitar?
Jimmie Haun for sure.
i was'nt aware of him.
He's the guy who plays a lot of what Steve Howe thought he played on "Union."
Steve Howe is very missed here. Trevor - while very talented of course, was never was able to quite capture the classic YES sound.
"Was never able to capture the classic Yes sound." Good call Captain Obvious. That's because when Trevor was brought in it wasn't the classic Yes anymore. Thanks for your keen sense of insight. Lol.

Sorry, but Steve Howe is arguably the best guitarist in rock ever. Trevor isn't even in the same category.
@@Relayer6a You’re right he’s leagues better than Howe.

rabin crap as usual
Steve Howe??
Steve has a different band, Called YES. Believe it or not.
Yes, another Yes? Humm...Guiness record hahah. Thanks Daniel Shane Thomas
I just saw the other Yes
Yes or not Yes, that´s the question?
No Jon - No YES
