- Final épico de la siempreverde secuencia final ("Würm" compuesta por Steve Howe) clásico de Yes con Brian May como invitado de lujo!!
Damn, Brian May's sound is HUGE here. The moment he walks on stage the whole band seems to put more energy in their performance. And that final solo from Rick is pure gold. I was thinking "Yeah, still amazing but you can hear he aged", which is true, BUT the moment the rhythm sections doubles the time feel he is on fire!
TWO LEGENDS AND A SUPERLATIVE CREW!!!!!!! AMAZING, WONDERFULL, AWESOME SESSION!!!!!!
Thanks magic Rick for this. Thanks Brian for your generosity and love for music. A tribute for us, all we fans of Yes over the world! Thanks for this gift!
A brilliant jam session. I thought the first guitarist was excellent, May was excellent too.
If yo got Brian May and Rick Wakeman together on a stage, it's absolutely okay to keep jammin over three chords for 10 minutes.
You made my day hahah
Everything is going great.. so then you add an astrophysicist... and it becomes ...Stellar..
I see what you did there, and appreciate it :)
Nice! and well said.
Hell YEAH!!!!
As for myself, it’s great to see this. Würm was the part that made me fall in love with the song Starship Trooper. Rick and Sir Brian look like they’re having fun onstage, jamming it out. Not sure who the other musicians are but they do a good job, the bass player, the drummer and the other guitarist. I love the Les Paul the other guitarist is holding.
Thanks for posting. Feel free to tell me who else is playing.
That was great!
Tony Fernandez on drums. He was also an original member of the Strawbs along with Rick
Strawbs were great!
is like this song was written.. for Brian May to eventually show how cool a guitarist he actually was
It's amazing how we critique a song. This is just some great musicians jamming out to a classic Yes tune. Nothing more and nothing less. No need to compare anything. They are having a great time playing it and I for one can appreciate this creation. It's not about May or Howe, or Rick or his son. Not even about rather Squire was better. Just enjoy instead of comparing. I'm sure their thoughts were soley aimed at just rockin away this song. Enjoy!!!!
Well said
Yep, the purists will nay say, but this is really good isn't it.
@@myoldmate Yes, very good my friend.
If the idea from inception is to do Yes songs you have to get a thunderous bass. All else is great
Right? Here's a tight band of excellent musicians doing what they do best... nothing matters except the eargasm.
Yes are one of my fav bands of all time, the ‘Yes Album ‘ a true masterpiece
To bad this isn't really yes... how do you feel about cover bands playing yes?
Simply incredible! I know no words to express how great this clip was. WOW
This was Friday, Sept 26. 2014. Starmus is a festival of music and astronomy on the beautiful island of Tenerife. It is the brain child of Garik Israelian (the astrophysicist who led the team which found the first observational evidence that supernova explosions are responsible for the formation of stellar mass black holes). Rick Wakeman has made several appearances at this
festival. The most notable was in 2014 where he was joined on stage by Dr Brian May, the iconic guitarist from Queen, where Rick Wakeman and English Rock Ensemble performed amongst other tracks from throughout Rick’s career a legendary version of Starship Trooper.
And Mr. Rick Wakeman still rocking a cape all these years later. Well done all.
Bravo! God bless the extravagance and virtuosity of Prog Rock!
I see a bunch off guys who are heaving a great time together on stage playing a Yessong!
Brian May is one of the original guitar heroes. He has a unique instrument, idiom, and writing style which has become his own identifiable brand, and that is what makes him so special and admirable. He has carved a very deep niche into rock history in the service of one of the greatest bands of all time. That's the attraction. Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page would have met with the same criticism. (I would like to hear Michael Schenker jam with Rick Wakeman; that would be cool.)
A touch of Queen soul to the music of Yes... Brilliant!
Two of my favourite musicians performing together.
Yes, these guys are massive stars. It's likely they are friends and friends do things they like together.
What makes Steve Howe's guitar Outro so great is timing, the notes he plays, the dynamics he uses, and the staggered timing through the run, the sound of the tune was there, but the
execution of the guitar solo was just a long improvised run. Still Good for a cover, but Steve has his own special timing which make Steve "The Maestro".
Unless this was an older recording, I didn't see Howe. The Maestro has long gray hair tied in a ponytail nowadays and he did in 2016. He has a distinct face. Didn't see it here
@@charlestownpc Simple fact Steve Howe is not there. No offence to Brian but I'll take Steve's Solos any day especially on this tune. That version off Yessongs tell's it all.
Oh, hell Yes! Thank you Brian. God save the Queen!
Incredible jam session. Band was tight and pulled off a great performance
This is an excellent jam! The gent playing the Les Paul is impressive. Brian May is clearly enjoying himself and sounds excellent as well...Bravo
Seriously, Brian May at his VERY BEST!!!!
Kudos to Brian May, he nailed it the mood of the tune!
Never knew May could do prog
Amazing! I could listen to them jam all day!
How lucky these people are... To attend this show ... Please, Rick, come to Lisbon !!!!
Ugh, that hi-hat. Makes me appreciate much more how Alan White approached Bruford's parts.
Raymond Peck - I was thinking the same...
What? That is neither of them so what are you talking about? Bruford kicks White's ass as a player for Yes, I could hardly watch live Yes with White in the later years.
08:53. Like how Brian gets close to Rick as if inviting him to render one of his "King Arthur"-like solos, which he really does.... Nice friendly atmosphere!
If Brian May had his way, Queen would have done more "prog rock" and hard rock, rather than more mainstream pop/rock.
Looked a bit like
"When's someone gonna take the next solo, my fingers are falling off FFS ?!!"
"Maybe if I go and stand on Rick's podium he'll take the hint ... and the lead 🙄"
All good clean fun. 👍
What awesome execution of the great piece...Hats off to all involved in tasty piece Thank you sooo much for this😋
Two of my musical heroes (who evolved in quite different musical worlds) playing together, this is great !
When Legends jam, bring on the Goose Bumps......🎵
Awesome!! Great jam! Dont understand the haters.
Agree. They are wankers
still get tingles each time I watch it and May appears from back stage
They closed their YESSONGS era (73-74) shows with “Wurm” an incredible call and respond between Rick and Steve that left you exhausted and in disbelief as you departed for you car. That was and is a special jam the top musicians love!
Hypnotic...but to be fair it's the double tambourines that make this what it is..
This was a concert not just a song. The guy you are referring to was the vocalist on other songs during the concert. His name is Ian Gillan from Deep Purple. Maybe you heard of them.
@@charleslloyd4253
Thanks for that, Charlie.
If I see your sense of humour while I'm out and about, I'll make sure it's returned to you.
@@ginskimpivot753 That was Ian Gillan??? No wonder those double tambourines reminded me of Highway Star.
Morning Has Broken...a Nothing song, till Wakeman comes along. never looked back.
I believe that song started out as a church hymn.
Loved this song when first come out and always wished Yes played it longer like 10 mins. Now I find this and 12mins... Awesome and the whole gang here are just pure fantastic.
Rick Wakeman....a true born King.....
A class performance from two top class artists(Rick Wakeman early "YES" and of course Brian May of "QUEEN")
Fusión of 2 worlds. Magnificent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Captures the true spirit of the song
Well done , back in the 70's loved yes and queen. Again well done id love to see the whole starship trooper video!!
That was fun!
Oh my goodness. THAT is a bass player.
I'm blown away! Audio and visual are both very good 👍
Saw Yes just after Rick W,joined at Crystal palace SE London like a mini Hollywood bowl and they were the dogs..., the Rick later with Journey to with full Oachestra &choir ..fantastic so at 69 teaching myself keyboards.
It only took three hours for the A/V people to figure out who was playing the first synth solo...🙄
yeah, some of the worst camera work I've ever seen.
Genios. Y palabras aparte tambien para el batería. Que Maestro. Sostiene la base ritmica en todo el Jam
From beginning to end. Blows me away. Does justice to Yes but the guys contributions are out of this world. Wow!
The best sound! Great brian may🎸👍
Great three chord jam.
holy ship! old people rock!!! love this.
Rick Wakeman and Brian May!!!
Épic performance!!!
I know the focus is on Rick and Brian, but boy that snare sounds sublime.
Sir Brian May....really kicked ass on his solo....but I really liked Dave Colquoon's sweep picking method on his solo....that also 'kicked ass'....Both guitarists were Fucking Amazing.
rockstars never grow up!!!
Wow! What a spetacular show!
A lot of experts commenting here. Give me a break. If the band was good for Wakeman ( and one of his sons was playing) and May, what the heck? And May v. Howe who asked? Why not just go ahead and appreciate both of them? They aren't making these comparisons. A lot of waannabees commenting here but it is no one playing on the song..
Brian May kicks ass!
Love you fucking guys even my heroes since albums been turning since 1970
How could the audience just sit through that? I'd have been banging my head on the edge of the stage. Stupendous.
You obviously did not watch the entire video.
Just thinking about the audience, without knowing, they got a glimpse of Heaven.
Dr Brian May PHD Astrophysics
Fantástico..forever
Y E S , would be Proud to hear this , ...
Hell yea! Rock and roll till the day I die. Fucking Awesome!
Wakeman makes it look like a walk in the park. And, I don't believe I've ever heard Steve Howe hit that one VERY high note before.
This is all good and fine but no one can touch Steve Howe on this song.
WOW That tambourine player is backed by some great musicians :)
I don't know why Rick persists with Ashley Holt (on tambourines) who has to be the worst vocalist I've ever heard.
This is fantastic, pure indulgence
que maravilla por suerte lo vi varias veces en vivo, gracias Dios
now that is a MUSIC lesson
I've have now listened to this for like the umpteenth time. Fuckn rocks. Here's the difference between this version and the original version. The original version you just want to relax and get stoned. This version with Brian May you just want to rock. He really turns it up a notch
Quem sabe faz ao vivo,
em qualquer tempo.
Talentos Eternos.
Mandaram Muito Bem!!!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great combo
Very well done. I get it but when you've seen Steve Howe play it live...you're forever comparing.
Sweet Jesus. Didn't see that coming.
Not my usual sort of thing, but.....WOW!!!!!
It was good…….and then Brian came from the mist……It was then off the charts!
That was fucking AWESOME
Those are real musc why dont bands play real music i. KNOW ALL those except that other guitarist i seen all those guys solo gotta keep it going .Wakeman the master
The more I listen to 70's & 80's heroes, the less I want to hear what they do in 2019.
Because people in 2019 need to start being a lot more purposefully daring. We have fallen into a vacuum where the classics of the 60s, 70s or 80s are forcibly boxed into the 60s, 70s and 80s and not lived up to here and now.
Wow! Holy Shit! Good Lord! What else can I say?
How bout...
FUCKIN 'A'! progressive Rock at its Ultimate Best!!!
No wonder, Queen were mad Yes fans as they were starting their career, they even admitted they borrowed a bit of Yes' music style in their first two albums...
They are untill alive legends. Wow I don't believe it. 🤘🤘🙏👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Just a great jamming song.
I'd know Brian May's sound from the quiet side of the moon!
You shouldn't post a video like this without stating what this concert was for and who plays in it. Having said that, this was great to see the guys just having fun and jamming a simple 3 chord tune. Who the f@ck voted this down?
A twat
masterful
Long live Starship Trooper!
Wow, that went on a bit !
Pretty awesome though, they don't write endings like that anymore.
I can't keep a relaxed face listening to Prof. May, yet he does playing. Guess it is rocket surgery!
holyy - brian is pretty sensational there
Everything returns to it's original form , at some point in time . infinity chapter 8 tod
Sod all today's namby pamby watery, soft, slushy, romantic? s***t !!! This is real music!!
Don’t forget shitty cringy mumble rap too🤢🤢🤮🤮
That’s some serious ear candy there
Wow, that was hot at 5am with coffee and a doobie!
Los dioses del rock wekeman y May wuaaaaoooo
