PS2 version is very solid. The last PS2 games were really next-gen games already - God of War2, Black, Burnout Revenge, this NfS... great generation.
FF12, can't miss out on that in this conversation. One of the best looking games on the PS2. They could have spruced up the res to 720p and cleaned up the aliasing and release it on the PS3 and it'd still be called one of the best looking games. Lots of early JRPGs on the PS3 looked similar to FF12

One of the differences between PS2 & PS3 is the traffic cars during the race event or pursuit event. In PS2, there are no traffic cars once the race/pursuit events start, making it impossible to do dynamic pursuit breaker.
And only 4 cars in all events, you + 3 ia cars, even war races, ps3 have 8 or 11 cars in this events

Honestly, the only noticable differences I see here are the lighting and resolution. Things are a lot shinier and sharper on the PS3 than on PS2, and that's really it. Aside from those, you could tell me the PS2 version was the PS3 version and I'd believe you!
Some cars also sound different in the PS2 and PS3 ports as well but aside from that they're pretty much the same
The PS3 version is just the ps2 version with better textures, reflections, resolution etc. the game was designed for the 6th generation of consoles
@@JDotLocNo, it was made originally for the seventh gen consoles. There are many unused cars in the sixth gen consoles that you can only obtain in the other newer versions. Also the engine in both gens is the same from MW 2005 on Xbox 360, you can notice it for effects such the NO2 trails.
It is incredible that this game runs on consoles like the PS2.

I played the PS2 version back in ‘06. A few years ago I bought the 360 version of this game. Holy cow was there a big jump! I was so thrown off! Not to mention the PS3/360 has the review mirror and cut scenes that were never in the PS2 version/the ones here in the video. It was like playing a whole ass new game!

Most probably the PS3 version is just an upgrade from the PS2 version, like most early crossgen games.

What's cool is that that if you run the ps2 version through emulation at 4k 60fps, it can look better than the ps3 version in some ways.
Let's be real, it's not close. Way better textures, lights, reflections, better models, and the image is not blurry anymore.

The biggest improvement is especially with the change of controllers from one generation to the next.
For an 18 year old game like NFS CARBON, NFS CARBON both on PS2 and 3 are equally impressive!

The weirdest thing about ps2 version is that has option for the rear view mirror but it doesn't show up on the screen.
The PS3 version is just sharper with some added creepy animations

The PS3 was released (exacly) on November 11, 2006 with NFS Carbon as a launch title.
And sadly EA probably didn’t care enough to port the game to the PS3 1 year later, since NFS was in the “yearly release” phase.
gosh they really BOTCHED UP the PS3. the ps2 version is looking damn fine, not too far off from the PS3. But then it is interesting because we are still playing some of the PS3 era games remastered to 4k nowadays

The PS3 version had an extremely absurd ammount of motion blur that you couldnt turn off and a noticeable purple tint across all game, not only in the FrontEnd.
i had the ps2 version and it was indeed quite solid, better than the kind of bad underground 2 and most wanted ports before. but i dont like how they took out the cutscenes with the peoples faces sitting in their cars. could have been easily done with video files if the ps2 couldnt handle the graphics. but they left them out to have a selling point for the next gen versions imo

The PS3 version is probably the best looking version of the game, although the Xbox 360 version does have slightly better image quality.
Pc version with a wide-screen fix at native 4k is best

I've played the 360 version first, so to me the PS2/XBOX version may look bad to me. Imagine doing race wars on PS2/XBOX, must be very impressive that 20 racers fit on older consoles of the time.

The race wars only existed in PS3, X360 and PC port. For some reason, the PC version only have 12 racers instead of 20 in that mode.

На PS2 не так уж и плохо выглядит. А самой консоли на тот момент уже 6 лет было. Не раз эту версию прошёл на все карточки. Тем более я лучше эти звонки от персонажей послушаю, чем смотреть на эти смазанные рожи на движке игры.

I miss the old "Police Civic Cruisers" i think they were called, and the lights, what brand of car were they even supposed to be? i always remember the older artstyle and have good memories, of course in modern need for speed we have the Ford Crown Victoria and Dodge Charger as the main real life police cruisers in high quality now.

Я тут все сокрушаюсь, что NFS Most Wanted 2005 для PC портировали версию для Xbox Original, а не Xbox 360. Последняя намного красивее и детализированнее, с кучей новых эффектов и внятной дистанцией прорисовки. И выглядит в разы круче, чем все эти фанатские HD-поделки-сборки для PC. Минус X360-версии в том, что это ранняя игра поколения и у нее очень неровный фреймпейсинг (несколько некомфортно играть)

@@dmer-zy3rb The graphics on PS2 were quite good, it even had the orange effect that the gamecube version did not have for some reason that I don't know, it's a frame rate issue, it did have several drops but nothing serious
