I love it how you choose to play on the original PS1 console and opt for CD games. People don't understand, emulation is great but nothing beats playing original games on its original consoles! Nostalgia maxed out!
Agree on that!🔥🔥
Perhaps it’s not nostalgia for some. Some people want to play some of their favourite titles.
I've been saying this for forever nothing beats playing on the original hardware
I agree with everything other than the games. I don't think you get anything out of using a disc over a hard drive with all the games loaded onto it. You do save a ton of money with a hard drive
@@kylespevak6781yes, but I'm talking about the authentic nostaglic experience of putting a disc in, seeing it spin up, load and play - as intended. This cannot be replicated, but I do agree that of course running games off a MicroSD or HDD is much quicker, convenient and reliable.
Tekken 2, Street fighter alpha 3 and a bunch of Playstation magazine demo disc was my experience in ps1
Magazine Demo Discs! What a time to be a gamer!
PlayStation underground I played so many demos as a kid xD
Yo i remember them demo disks
A time where internet wasnt mandatory
Exactly fans who truly REMEMBER the ps1 should be those demo disks and boot up, selecting games nostilga
💯 my bro
I have Psone and still working until now... Still playing many games like ctr, grand turismo1 and 2,reel fishing 2, and many more...Even my nephew love it ...
Till today for me the best console... So many good memories, so much nostalgy...
PS1 is a legendary console. If it was not for Nintendo's betrayal, this amazing console would have never existed. Thank Ken Kutaragi!
Evidence out of something bad came something good! I still have my ps1 in the closet.. Just don’t think I have any working memory cards.. So I use my ps3.. The other day I actually played Silent Hill which was the game I got when buying it
I was 12 when I finished RE2, the discs were just like these ones. No memory card, no dying... RPD too many times, when I finished all RPD, then I decided to play it with all I knew an afternoon. So the other parts like sewers and Umbrella lab was easy... Because I got used to the game's mechanics and strategies...
een echte nederlander die engels praat haha lekker man
This video brings back lots of great memories. I remembered hearing all my school friends about the PS1 in 94. They would work all summer and birthday money to get it.
You are right that the PS1 got very popular around 98 and 99 due to piracy with the rom chips. First with the parallel port device plug in, which allow to play about 90% of the copied games and cost like $6 from eBay or local computer swampmeets. The solder mod chips allow to play more games. I didn't know how to solder so one of my co-workers offer to do it for me if I buy him an in-n-out burger. There are so many great gems on that system like Resident Evil, Parasite Eve, MGS, Final Fantasy 7. Good times.
Thanks for sharing those memories!🙏 And modding the PS1 for a burger sounds like a great deal!😅🎮🎮
They took the parallel and serial ports off the later models for that exact reason.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your setup. That's a nice Sony Trinitron, what is the model?
Thanks man, the model is: KV-29FS60
Hi, nice video! Would you recommend the Sync on Luma or SYNC cable? they are both being sold on retrogamecables. Can't figure out what i should get.
He man, I'm using Sync on Luma cables. If you have a PVM then SYNC is better but both is fine.
Mooie setup ! PSX was mijn eerste echte eigen console, onderhand heb ik ze allemaal verzameld. ga zo door !
Very cool, I also use the Dualshock 4 the 20th anniversary version of the PS1 with the 8bitdo bluetooth receiver in the same color as the console.
Here in Brazil it is practically impossible to find CRT TVs with Scart input so I need, in addition to the scart cable, an RGB converter from scart to Component Video.
Excellent video, congratulations, I'm a fan of your collection.
Thanks man!🔥🔥 I really love the Sony Trinitron models from Brazil!
I'm so old i bought mine on release day when the store opened in usa 1995. I still have it. The first release version can play imports too
I bought my first one in August 1996! 14 years old working weekends for a year to save up $430 New Zealand. I had to hire my first game, couldn't afford to buy one right away.
Command & Conquer....still my favorite game to this day!
the first ps1 console definitely was pure magic,i remembered back in 1998 i visiting frequently game stores and being in there hours and hours with the simple opportunity of playing at least just for a while and smelling the smell of new games while open it from the box, being just a kid,but i hadnt the money to buy a console and i dreamed to have one. that console it brings to me nostalgic a100%
Hey, I liked the video, I also love to keep the PS1 alive, I personally have 2 in working condition and one I'm trying to get the disk drive unit to be able to restore it, one ot them I installed a newer version of the modchip which is better as it uses a code to make it smarter than simply spam the codes to the system constantly, it detects wether a disk is music or a game and that's a big plus for me, and also avoids being detected as a modded console with games like legend of dragoon, all I think I need now is a good upscaler to be able to play with my monitor or tv, I do have a crt tv and I play there, but that tv is just too small.
My first game i ever got for the PS was Resident Evil Directors Cut. I remember seeing the commercial on tv, and I said I have to get that.
I think back then Resident Evil amazed a lot of us!🔥🔥
you're never too old to like what games you want to play even if you didn't play them when you were a kid I'm thinking about getting the PS1 I never played it only the PlayStation 2 I have that next I'm going to get the PS3 I already have the PS5 and it plays PlayStation 4 games I just missed the old games like how they were before sure there's amazing games today but I miss the old games how I used to play when I was a kid you're never too old to like what you like
Just wondering (because I'm trying to copy your setup), is your PS1 in the video PAL or NTSC?
You haven’t watched the whole video😜 PS1 is PAL but softmodded!
@@allgenerationsgamer Oh, okay. Thanks! ^-^ Got everything working now and I'm very glad!
bro the first resident evil 2 game gave me nightmares as a kid watching it in rental store. yes back in the day we have playstation rental stores around town then Metal Gear Solid changed everything for me and my brother in our video game lives. the playstation x/1 was an epic era for video games.
EDIT: Castlevania SOTN has a special place in our hearts, they don't make it like that anymore. the game will be forever one of the legendary tier of greatest video game ever and all time.
I had the same with RE2! Will never forget that, Castlevania SOTN timeless classic, I played it again not so long ago! In modern day I would recommend Metroid Dread if you haven’t played that one yet, really a masterpiece too!
The deal breaker for the SCART2X for me is that it has no option to turn the line doubling off. Whilst this can work fine for 288p content, it just looks off when interlaced content is linedoubled. It is rare, but there are some PS1 games that use 576i. Anybody who recommends linedoubling for 576i should have their hands chopped off. With the OSSC, you have the option to passthrough the 576i signal and let the TV do all the deinterlacing. I've been saving up for either a RetroTINK 5X or 4K for awhile, since they both have motion adaptive deinterlacing. Even cheaper converters I trust better with interlaced content than linedoublers, because they expect to receive an interlaced signal.
i remember my first time seeing ps1 in action, this new kid in school we started talking video games, and he had a paper route, that he bought this thing called a PlayStation with. I remember seeing Tomb Raider for the first time, being blown away by that, and seeing Twisted metal in action and having so much fun racing around and blowing things up and thinking wow! can it get any better than this?
Perfect PS1 I Got The Mini Classic
One of my top 5 consoles ever, after the Dreamcast and PS Vita.
Love this thing so much, I actually play PlayStation games more than I do PS5 games honestly.
Dreamcast, PlayStation, Vita thats a solid list doesn't get much better then that!🔥
Dreamcast must have had the worst copyright prevention in the history of consoles. That is to say it didn’t have any lol
People just compressed cd roms and had at it, since the dc discs were just higher capacity cd roms anyway.
My first experience of playing PS1 (or just PlayStation as it was known then) was a friends one in 1996. I remember he had Ridge Racer and Alien Trilogy. I thought it was pretty amazing in 1996.
I didn't get on till 1998, my brother gave me his with a load of copy games. I was very lucky.
That's a nice memory, thanks for sharing!🎮🔥
Did he give you any rpgs?
@shivasthong4924 no I don't think so. I remember lots of driving games and Einhander the shoot em up, Crash Bandicoot 1 + 2. I couldn't complain, it was a very generous gift from him.
Cool set up, much respect. The controller is icing on the cake.
Thanks man!
There are different kinds of Verbatim discs. Use AZO discs and then burning speed is much less of an issue. There are SD card solutions too.
🙏
To be honest I play ps1 mostly from the playstation classic. But I also use a ps2 slim sometimes. Both connected to a CRT.
Playstation 1 made gaming simple straightforward pick up and drop game style super appealing
I also use the Playstation classic to play PS1 games (and mame). Eliminates the need of burning discs.
Great video! I use my PS2 with a component cable and the OSSC through my 4K TV. For the controller, I use the same solution as you; the 8bitdo wireless adapter and a PS4 controller.
For the games, I vary between playing the originals and playing using Popstarter which can play PSX games from USB. I also live in Europe, but always play NTSC games.
Component cable is a great choice, that’s also my choice and the RAD2X cable is also a great solution! And its very impressing to see Gran Turismo 4 in native 1080i🔥🔥
Great video! I prefer to play the PlayStation on a CRT as well. I haven’t moved to a wireless controller though - I will have to look into that.
Nice vid! I still also use my PS1 to this day, still enjoy playing on Driver 2, Crash Bandicoot, GT2... just one question, I'm also using my PS4 controller with the 8BitDo receiver, do you (or anybody in the comments section!) suffer a little bit of delay with the controller? It's not much but in racing games it gets a little bit annoying... Thanks!
No I haven’t any problems with it, what TV, cable, upscaler are you using?
God damn the nemesis still hunting me in my dream 24 years later
🤣 have you played the remake too?
Awesome… Keep up the great work & Happy Gaming Everyone 😎.
Thanks! You too!
Nice settup. Vita is my #1 go to console these days. Ps1, psp, vita, and mostly ps4 remote play.
We need a Vita 2!🎮🎮
Sick! I just ordered a Vita from Sumo shop loaded with 512gb's of games! I bought a psp 3000 at a random electronic store in Malaysia packed with my fav games games back in the day and realized I'd been playing it and enjoying it far more than my switch. So I decided to take it to the next level with the Vita that I'm sure is much more enjoyable to play on with an actual analog stick rather than the PSP's "nub" lol
I was debating getting one myself
love your channel, this is the content ive been looking for
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Modern TVs has usb ports you can use to power it instead of needing to plug it into a power socket
That’s correct!
My earliest memories with my ps1 involved demo discs. Parappa the rapper, crash 2, spyro 1, jet moto 2, bloody roar 1. Pretty much bought all those games after playing the demos so much.
Demo discs were great, I want to start collecting them!
Underground 😎
Iam playing PS1 Classic modded with PS3 controller.
Also I have original PS1 5xxx series connected with hdmi cable in other room. Iam planning to buy PSIO. There is something in playing original hardware :-)
I really enjoying playing games from 4th,5th and 6th generation. ❤
i use a 20th anniversary ps4 controller on my ps1 too 😊 i swapped all the black buttons for the grey ones used in later ps4 controllers tho. looks so good!
Nice one!🎮🔥
My PlayStation is modded with the PS1Digital HDMI kit and the xStation ODE.
I am using the MemCard Pro since it's the ultimate memory card, and my controller of choice is the Retrofighters Defender.
That sounds like the definitive PS1! I own the Retrofighters Defender too, decent controller!
@@allgenerationsgamer the HDMI kit and ODE aren't essential, they're just convenient
you RetroGamingCables SCART cable (I have one for the Saturn) is a damn good cable as it is!
the only essential upgrade IMO is the MemCard Pro... it has been an absolute gamechanger for my PS1, PS2, and GameCube!
I got all that except the ps1 digital.
2:26 thanks for saying it. I feel like many retrogaming youtubers either: don't want to admit it for some stupid reason I'm sure, had rich parents as kids, OR grew up on an environment where piracy was such a big taboo.
Yeah man I can better be honest because that’s just how it was, there wasn’t much money to spend in that time but that made all things that I did get very special!🙏🎮
If that is the same playstation you originally owned, then well done! It looks absolutely spotless.
Its not, sadly I never kept anything from my childhood👎
Great video. Happy to learn about the ps4 controller adapter
i've still got a couple games on disc that I play in my ps2, stuff like Tony Hawk, Gran Turismo and WWE, I've got one PS2 hooked up to a Samsung GX tv crt, and another hooked up to my playstation 3d display with component cables from Monster. But the main way I play ps1 games is on my PS Vita, with its smaller screen and oled the ps1 games look fantastic on there especially with it being a higher resolution display than what the games were designed for. Many solid ps1 games made it on the PSN store that can be played on psp, ps3 and ps vita.
Respect for using original hardware to play the games. I still have a bunch of my old PS1 discs, but no console anymore. But, regardless, I tend to just stick to emulation or my Vita for PS1. It's just more convenient.
I do love original hardware, but emulation for most things of that generation, and earlier, is close enough to original hardware quality that most people can't even tell the difference. And for me, it's just been so long since I used a real physical PS1, that IF the game I'm emulating is a little off, I probably won't even notice.
Not to mention, there's also the issue of buying the games. I mean, you COULD mod the console and burn discs. But at that point you might as well just get some kinda harddrive mod or somethin. And at that point I couldn't care less about using real hardware. For me, the fun of using real hardware comes from the physical games, not the physical console.
-----
I wish I could get a PS4 controller shaped more like a PS2 controller. I also use a PS4 controller to play PS1 games, it's way better than using something like an Xbox controller, it feels more authentic, but it's still not quite right.
great video, love your very interesting about the 50/60 hz never knew what the difference was
Glad you liked it!
Great video. Which model Sony CRT tv is this?
KV-29FS60
Thanks!
Nice video. Yes I still play PSone games ! I hope Analogue will release one day something to play in perfect conditions PS1 and PS2 games on modern TVs.
Continue the great work ! Cheers from France.
Your PS1 looks immaculate. Great collection.
Thanks!
The PS Classics are awesome. Anybody selling any? I'll buy em all :D
I mean the minis. BEST WAY to play PS1. Bar none. Disagree? Sell me your minis. I'll just pretend to agree that they are sh*t just to snatch them up LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The PlayStation one is also my number one 🤘😎 also i ned one of those 8bito things 😊
6:02 The advantage with this adapter is that it can be used with any PS2-to-Wii controller adapter, unlike Brook's PS2 offerings. The disadvantage is that analog mode cannot be changed unless the 8BitDo adapter is used on a Wii with a PS2-to-Wii controller adapter and a paired Wii Remote.* Another disadvantage is that L3 and R3 button support is gutted since the Wii Classic Controller has no clickable analog sticks.
* If you homebrew mod your Wii, you can play PlayStation games via WiiSXRX and WiiStation emulators. The menus on these emulators have Standard and Analog controller mode options built in.

I no longer have my PS1 sadly, so I mostly emulate on DuckStation. Very good software.
Ik kan je echt een xStation aanbevelen man. Ingame reset is zooo relaxed. Ik speel zelf op een PS1Digital met een xStation, Memcard Pro, PS1 originele controller omgebouwd met een 8bitdo wireless kit. Tv is een LG G3 en over een week komt m'n RetroTink 4k binnen.
Jij gaat echt All in he!🔥 De RetroTink 4K staat ook hoog op mijn lijstje!
Haha, yep, echt een klein vermogen aan uitgegeven 😂
Good times mann, nostalgia hits hard.
🎮🔥🔥
Great video which is very informative. But I am confused as the FreePSXboot memory card should be in slot 2 of the console so you can have game saves on slot 1? My set up is similar with RGB SCART cable from RGC but with a RetroTink 5X pro. For controllers I use a RetroFighters Defender which connects via WiFi rather than Bluetooth. The controller is really nice and comes in a matching grey colour to the console. I did try the BlueRetro BT adapter and it is surreal playing on Sony's oldest console with its latest DualSense controller. I keep that adapter in controller slot 2 for the odd occasions my son wants to join me playing on PS1 with his PS5 controller (doesn't happen very often).
Thanks man! After softmodding you don’t have to keep the memory card in the slot anymore, the console plays backups and is region free without that the memory card with FreePSXBoot is plugged in! And yes both are great solutions, you can’t go wrong with RetroFighters and RetroTink🎮🔥
I still have a PS One (as I sold my original PlayStation when I was young and needed money) but don't really use it, I play PS1 games on a PS2 connected to a CRT via RGB SCART.
I always found this strange, I’m 36 and I clearly remember getting the ps1 at Christmas when I was 12 years old brand new in the UK when it first came out but that would make it the year 2000 but it came out in 95/96 which would make me 8 but I was definitely 12 and remember getting excited with the release of this new console and begging my parents to get me it, this is like the Mandela effect for me
Very recognizable!😂
Yeah.. back in the day it took time to import things. 🙂
Get a xstation i got a ps1 with xstation there is a xreset and dual frequency oscillator connected to an ossc all my orginal games are pal aswell I can still test when I get on my my ps2
What game is that at 4 minutes into the video?
Moto Racer!
The PlayStation 1 is my all-time favourite console So many classics on that system some of my favourites are
Wild arms
Resident Evil 2
Final Fantasy 7
Castlevania Symphony of the night
Xenogears
Parasite Eve
Squaresoft were at the top of their game back in The late 90s
Solid list! And Hollow Knight on your profile pic, you know your games🔥🎮
how i play ps1 on modern displays.
Ps3 or steam deck
PS3 has latency and doesn’t scale well, but if you only have a ps3 then it works in a pinch
@@MrMoroPlays i also have a ps2 with a crt and most time i play on there but i think on ps3 the games look better
I still have my PS from 1998
PC for me. I'm not a die hard Playstation gamer. Even though I own HDD modded PS2 FAT, PS1, PSOne and a PS3, they are all used and collect dust. I just want to play the old Resident Evil games like they were (haven't gotten around to it yet.) I played FF7 and FF8 on PC back in the day with the original discs but now ALL non-MMORPG FF games are on my Switch. You definitely peaked my interest with FreePSXboot, didn't know it was a thing.
It’s all about enjoying the games, PC or console doesn’t matter!💪
i can recommend the brook controller adapter. i use it fir my ps2. All playstation controllers are supported BUT only the ps3 controller handles vibration correct
I prefer playing on PAL European consoles instead of the NTSC-U (American) consoles. I like the slower speed, due to nostalgia, but I do agree that the other regions speeds are better for the console in general. I just like the slower speed because it gives me more time to react in games and is sort of good for Tekken games and things like that.
Whatever fits you man, if you enjoy the games like that perfect!🔥🔥
In the Q&A on the RGC website, they mention they sell separate SCART cables for PS1 and PS2 because PS1 requires capacitors inside the scart cable while the PS2 does not. Keep this in mind when purchasing.
I have ps1big,and small model also.
I like your TV. I wish I had a TV like that.
Dragon Ball GT Final Bout is my first ps1 game, literraly after playing that game i got dengue,😂
Still love it tho this day
I am Glad you Enjoyed Resident Evil. Our Business is Life Itself. 😎👍💯
@umbrellacorp. Hi Ive been using you product Aqua Cure for some years. But the latest batch is causing me really gnarly rashes! They itch soo bad that my skin is started to peel off when I scratch it!! I feel like my brain is getting super foggy as well, all I can think about is eating, my hunger is becoming as insatiable as my itching rashes. Itchy tastie…
For anyone that doesn't know all models of the ps3 are backwards compatible with ps1 games so if you already have a ps3 on deck it's definitely more affordable to use that then to buy these upscalers but if you really want to buy a ps1 and use a retro tink epic as well just thought I should throw that out there.
Correct! I also mention that in the video, but be aware it’s emulation!
@@allgenerationsgamer yes true and not all games work well with the ps3 emulation that's why still getting a proper ps1 and adding all the things in your video is the ultimate set up.
Whats the verbatim model of burner please

Great video! Funny enough I never wanted a psx. I was one of those hardcore Nintendo kids 😅. The games I wanted like ff7&8, mgs1 and resident evil 2 I bought on pc. I’d get the chance to play it often though with a kid at my dad’s work he’d leave it there during the summers and he’d have a nice lineup. It wasn’t till the ps2 came out when I became a teen with ffx I was like okay I’ll give in. Never looked back. Love my ps2 so much I still have it and soft modded it to install all my games and play some I never had the opportunity to. Finally did get a psx original because I felt dumb for not getting one when I got older. It has such a great library and there’s a ton of jrpgs I was able to play that are awesome like the Tales series and a few others that never get talked about. The best part of these consoles is there’s no micro transactions and you can play them to complete. Just sit and play. Even I got tired of modern gaming. Switch is my most played system. At least Nintendo still carries on the spirit of completing their games and not shoving micro transactions in our faces. Sorry, Nintendo kid at heart man😂
Thanks for sharing! Nothing wrong with being a Nintendo kid, my first console was a NES, and Mario 64 is one of my favorite games of all time but💪 Nintendo always delivered quality (except the Virtual Boy😜)
Crt: Retrotink 5x pro has slot mask filters that look exactly like consumer crts. 8bitdos retro receivers: They still don't support switching digital and analog mode, meaning a lot of games can't be played correctly. The brook adapter fully supports this flawlessly.
The 8BITDO does allow switching between digital and analog mode, you got to have the latest firmware. And I admit CRT filters nowadays are great but still I prefer original CRTs the look and feel hits just different for me📺
@@allgenerationsgamer latest firmware according to their website is 1.03, but they implemented it in 1.06 beta via very weird key combination. Manual also not showing any hint about analog mode switching. I don't think that this state can be recommended to end users.
Yes that's strange but it works by holding down SELECT+L1+Y for 5 seconds, it will change between Analog and Digital mode
I just want to set up an original dual shock so I can use it for my retro gaming via Bluetooth.
What’s the motorbike game, looks interesting?
Moto Racer!
I use black bottomed cdr just like the OG Sony disc and burn cd on 8 speed, in both cases this doesn't strain the laser like other options and cds do.
I seen people go even for 6 speed, but idk if I ever had a burner that goes that low, 8 seem to be the one that worked well so far.
I avoid any regular discs because they strain the laser.
On a modded PS2 it doesn't seem to matter since that one was made read all sorts of colored discs and speeds that are a bit higher. However it's been a while but I think I use to burn those too on 8 and 10 just to be sure ... But the color of the discs doesn't matter.
That’s great, Where did you buy the black bottomed cds?
I use a modded PlayStation (Vita) TV with CFW to play my PS1 games. I know it is emulation however it is an official emulator and I don't need to burn discs to play my games. PS TV supports DS3 and DS4 controllers just fine.
He man true! PS1 emulation on PSVita is great, it’s close to perfect and you could call it hybrid emulation because some chips are close to similar as on the PS1!
Where are you from, friend?
Netherlands
I use RetroArch DuckStation on my PC with either my super low input lag monitor or my 65" tv (for when I wanna chill in the bed). The benefits of DuckStation are just too good for me to pass up. Gran Turismo and Ridge Racer Type 4 almost seem like retro-inspired modern indie games.
Agree on that, many games can still look amazing! What controller are you using with this setup?
@@allgenerationsgamer DualShock 4 w/ a bluetooth adapter and DS4Windows software, plus HidHide (to avoid double input issues). It'd be easier to just connect an Xbox controller and off I go, but the DS4's trackpad and gyro make it a deal maker for me. There are some PS1 and N64 shooters that I can use gyro aim with. Right stick for very quick aim and the gyro for precise shots (no aim assist).
nice little setup mate
Thanks mate
The PS1 library is STILL amazing

That’s true but I don’t like the analog sticks on the Dual Shock 3 in comparison with Dual Shock 4!
I don't play much PS1 anymore and I need some of the gear you have. I have 2 PS1's both original launch Japanese machines and 3 PS2's and 2 PS3's. You've done well to have a PS1 that doesn't skip on discs, my original 1994 machine is a bit hit and miss, its not the laser its the gears. I oiled them up but still find its hard to get the middle of the disc where audio is concerned. My last CRT went boom in a puff of smoke about a year ago which was my goto TV for PS1. I've used that space for 2 flat screen monitors, so to use them I need a retrotink.
I’d heard stories of how piracy was huge in eastern bloc countries during the 90s., more so than anywhere else. Still is in some places.
Were these just forgotten markets? I’ve noticed quite a lot of people from those regions all having similar experiences, and I just find it interesting. This is actually how CDPR started back in the day. Great video.
Here in the Netherlands where I live you couldn’t buy burned discs in stores but the ModChip was very active here like in all regions! But indeed in some countries/markets piracy was even more extreme and you could buy burned discs in stores! Probably because of the economics of those countries and Sony not being very active in those markets
@@allgenerationsgamer Sorry I’m crap with accents, for some reason I thought Romania/Bulgaria. My apologies, I just assumed lol. But yes you’re right, piracy was and is a huge problem in those countries.
No problem because you are very right about the accent, born in the Netherlands but Turkish roots!😁
