I think Elon was born in that sound chamber.
Dad use to work there... Been there many times before they closed down +- around 94. They build a few interesting things ;) for israel.
Israel was very much involved in our space program. They visited TFDC a lot. These facilities were supposed to be expanded a lot in future. Who knows if any development will still happen.
@@Beyond-Politics Just looking by how empty it is.. if it was anywhere else it would have been bustling with thinking minds, unfortunately funds are never put into these
where was it more or less located? close to Denel Somerset West ?
Amazing 😱 having a facility like this requires sophisticated technology that I think we can pull off if given the chance to explore our brilliance
True
Lol sure...
Unfortunatley black government won't do that, they are now collapsing the country because they are corrupt.
Thank you for mentioning pre-94', just goes to show how much we've all lost in this kak hole since then👌
Take the good with the bad I guess :)
@@AdamSpiresWannabeVlogger at times it's hard to think of the good lol, hard to come by these days
@David Rosenberg but a terrorist organization and corruption did...
Fuck you you racist piece of shit 😂
Go to Australia or something
Running this kind of installation building satellites and practicing science requires
sophistication and brilliance.
The same qualities and skills required to run a country successfully.
They still run it and keep it very well maintained. Denel does a lot of tests etc up there now. It's looking pretty good.
Leon Hue
Ah shame really want apartheid back. You're a loser.

Awesome video.
I was aware of this facility. I was fortunate to spend some time with the old analogue wideband data systems that worked from the Braamfontein transmission room to the Hartebeeshoek Earth Satellite station in the early 1980's. The telephony division and not Hartrao (aka DSS-51 aka SANSA)
I would often visit the station to upgrade, test, and repair the data systems (Saponet) before the up and downlinks.
Today most traffic is routed via optic fibre as the fibre has low latency, bigger bandwidths, and higher speeds than satellite technology albeit prior to 1988 the analogue coaxial undersea cable was not as superior as satellite. It was also the days before mobile and internet traffic. Back then the traffic was predominantly voice, data, and television/video
Just another thing The ANC Stuffed up!!!
Not the ANC, closed down via the USA, cannot leave missile and nuclear technology for idiots.
interesting video. Is this facility still a secret? would love know its location.
Wow really awesome 👏 👑 🙌 👏 🙏 🙌 🔥
I hope they start using these types of facilities again. #RebuildSouthAfrica #SouthAfricaRising
No chance, this lit are master thieves, not builders!!

Nice
Very very cool - thanks for sharing with us
Always welcome! :)
Thank you so much for sharing this.
I really appreciate it all the detail that you have shown .I am very excited that people will be aware that Cape Town had thier on space facility. My husband was privileged to work for Astrofica.
Awesome!!
Amazing, my favourite type of wannabe vlogger video. Hidden gems of this beautiful and amazing country
Thanks a million
Several seasons of the TV series Strike Back were filmed and AFAIK set around Cape Town. Houwteq was one of the filming locations, it was the "bad guys" facility where they were creating some kind of nasty weapon. I recall seeing the view seen at 3:54 in some of the scenes.
Yeh one of the facilities there they use for movie sets!
Long Walk To Freedom as well
The truth Is A Homeless Child Could Live Better In The Place ! Because Robben Island Is More Ideal *
Part of the movie "Chappie" were filmed in that facility, that's where the cop robots were manufactured
A vital lesson to all of us that racism (apartheid era) and racism from the current government is never sustainable and unables countries such as South Africa Zimbabwe from reaching their greatness.
The only crimes against humanity was the abolishment of Apartheid.
Dope vid!!!!!!
Botswana is spending 3 billion us dollars on own space program. Is expected to make our first launch in three years
Hopefully if South Africa can get back on its feet, we can include the whole of Southern Africa
I did some research on this. Three years later I see no news around this program except for the initial announcement of the program. Very sad that it seems nothing came of it.
Very very freakin cool !
soo cool!!
I saw a rocket launch from Alexander Bay in the NW Cape in 1987. Don't know where the rocket launched from, but it was in a very remote area. We watched that rocket go straight up, and up, and up, followed by a white smoke trail. Was crazy to know SA launched rockets in those days when nothing was ever made public.
Banging Content ,Thanks
All I can say wow soo cool
I am totally fascinated by this - I really want to know why it was all closed and who gave the orders. And the engineering genius displayed there - I am really impressed.
I reckon there was a lot of foreigners involved and probably wanted to keep it hushed. Just a thought. There was a lot more to the Angola war than we have been told.
@David Rosenberg South Africa has built 4 satellites so far since 1994.
2020 the president in SA announced R4,5 billion in creating a space hub in SA and is to build 6 new satellites with 80% of the components originating in SA. And SA still has a space agency with an annual budget of R150 million. So that's a huge increase in investment.
At least do some research on the subject before you comment.
@@obakengmorobane14 thanks for replying lesdididi
The facility was closed pre 1994 as a result of pressure by the USA government.
A true researcher informs and educates his/her viewers, well done Adam.
A classic (pre 1994 Jim Carrey character) idiot compliments you on your work and discovery while being nostalgic about a racist country, yet oblivious on the ethnicity of your guides...🤔
Do some of these people think that SA would have had a budget to continue it's nuclear programme, put Shuttleworth in orbit at the republic's expense and maintain the racial status quo without financial sanctions?
Even Germany which has the most nazi mega structures has abandoned them and ensures it maintains a wide berth from aryan ideals. You would not hear individuals openly pledge how great it was to when they were developing leading technology during the holocaust.
And yes, French president thought African peasants only know the eternal renewal of time, then he must be confused when a French president rewards an African illegal immigrant with an honoury citizenship and a job for doing what ordinary civil servants perform on a daily basis.
On the other hand this considerate president is grappling with why the French your do not share his celestial ideals when they don't have jobs.
It's even embarrassing when is of the opinion that SA was about to launch until the ANC came about..., in 1912, I guess there wouldn't be aboArmstrong ke.
A little basic knowledge would inform you that a successful clandestine operation is the one conducted privately, without any accountability to continuously changing administrations, and that the top administrator (President) has a very low clearance level and would not be privi to most programmes.
But then, we'll have allow some people to get over their entitlement babalas in order to work together in finding ways to advance this country regardless...
Adam have you ever been to Pelindaba? That was where SA created our atomic bomb..........
I thought that was cemented shut.
@@stoneomountain2390 The test tunnel in the Kalahari was closed.

This place is amazing. Was there about 6 years ago when they were planning to revamp. Never made it to the vibration Centre though. Only clue about its where abouts is that it's past a big dam😬

Thanks so much!
This is fascinating. What only goes on in secret! Sharing
Wow thank you Adam 😅
Awesome flash back for me ...you rarely if ever here about this place
Had the privilege to spend a day at the facility at Houwteq near Grabouw. ( 1988 - 1990 ? ) My contact was the person who worked as one of the team members on the propelsion system of the satelite. ( And their focus was to create a system that can change direction during the flight. Booster system? ) Had a visit to the satelite which was covered with a white satin like cloth in one of the buidings. Joined them for lunch. Needless to say that the satelite never made it to space because of political interference. . Many years later a friend informed me that the satelite was dumped as scrap on premises between Wellington and Hermon. ( We were looking for a spesific type of material / metal and that stuff was used to build the satelite. )
How exciting
It really is!

Hi.....Adam.Thank You for the Vids..Have you been to Kraalbaai.A nice place for a future video..Enjoy your escapades....just love your vids
It's sad that the current Gov. has no vision for the future and plan for all who live in it besides themselves.
It's sad that the old government did have a vision for the future, but that vision was only for a one race.
Oh, they have a vision, but not for our good. They're sold out to the Agenda 2030 illuminati New World Order that is playing out in our world this minute. Kill off the masses with this untested vaccine and put the rest in smart cities to be totally controlled.

1:20 not sure if thats just stating facts or a bit of a burn.....we will never know. this is amazing i for sure didnt know this place existed.
I know where this is 😏. I stumbled upon it while hiking.
That isn't top secret, it is in Grabouw.
yup, its not top secret
Just gotta say, this place is incredibly clean for something that is not in operation... hint hint... yes...no...
Its still in operation and actually very well looked after. :)
If you think this is incredibly clean, you should see the old sections of Park Station in Jhb. While we were shooting Queen Sono for Netflix I saw them open a section of the station that is usually barricaded off, and wow 😭😍 is all I could say
Denzel is also going it's demise. We've went backwards in life.
We also had nuclear warheads...
-Hes right you know..
The nuclear fuel extracted from those warheads is still kept at Pelindaba, if south Africa wanted to resume it nuclear programme it would eliminate the enrichment process to weapons grade and we'll go straight to infusion to warheads. I highly doubt that will ever happen though.
Guys, let's start a rocket company and put stuff in space. We have the facility, we just need the money to make this work
A recent French President once remarked : “The African peasant only knew the eternal renewal of time, marked by the endless repetition of the same gestures and the same words,” he said. “In this realm of fancy ... there is neither room for human endeavour nor the idea of progress.”
@Burning Spear I did not understand a thing you said as I unfortunately do not understand ghetto - perhaps you should concentrate on getting facts correct & then maybe civilised people will take you more seriously but I doubt it.
