I’m not sure which video it was but you used diluted acrylic leather paint to dye a canvas bag and WOW! I used your technique on my ancient canvas Gucci shopping bag that was basically destroyed and OMG THANK U! What a transformation :)
I know this video is from 2016 but I just dyed my vintage LV epi wallet from gray to black and was worried about dye transfer. This gave me the peace of mind I needed because I only thought of letting it dry for a day or two. Thank you! 💖
Can you do a video on tricks for mixing different colors to achieve a color match with a few different colors. You do this so well. Thank you for your videos.
Sorry for my dummy question. What is the difference between Angelus acrylic leather paint and Angelus leather dye?? Is the finish result, more bright? Great video... love it.
Hi Hadrian, after dyeing my leather handbag with oxford blood and letting it dry for 4 days before using the leather conditioner, there were still some colour transfer onto my clothes but thank goodness the washing machine could remove them. any tips to lock in the dye though as even when my palms are sweaty, and i hold onto the bag for some time, the colour transfer as well >
Ok so I have a Louis Vuitton marignan and I primed it with leather washer, then primed it lightly with acetone, then applied 3 coats of USMC black dye, used the hairdryer to speed up the drying time (like 2 hours total) and now I conditioned it not realizing I should’ve allowed it to dry overnight. 🥲
Charla Ville because you have to seal it. Alcohol leather dyes must be sealed with something like Kiebings “kote”. What he is using is an acrylic, which is a paint which doesn’t need to be sealed and can be removed with acetone because it doesn’t penetrate the leather much. Personally I prefer leather dyes and then sealing it. Acrylic leather “dyes” (paints) run the risk of chipping or cracking over time, however you have the option of changing the color if you want in the future.

Hello Hadrian, will the dye not stiffen the leather?
What leather conditioner would you recommend?
Hi Hadrian, after dyeing my leather handbag with oxford blood and letting it dry for 4 days before using the leather conditioner, there were still some colour transfer onto my clothes but thank goodness the washing machine could remove them. any tips to lock in the dye though as even when my palms are sweaty, and i hold onto the bag for some time, the colour transfer as well >
I would think you could use waterproofing spray to help lock it in just like you would shoes.
Love it
+Heather S thank you!!! It's so cute. Such a great little bag.
Will the color ever crack_crackle off?
Did you color the bag metallic, if so what color and brand? Thanks!
They have nail polish remover pads a x would seem to be easier
How about dying a black bag into a lighter color? Would that be possible? Or is it a lot harder?

Hi love! do you know if one can use rubbing alcohol instead of the polish remover? thanks
You can't because deglazer is 90% acetone
Is it missing the tassels?
Does the nail polish remover bleed onto the bag lining?
Nope, you just have to be careful when applying it, but it doesn't.
Oh, thanks for replying! I'm from Orange County and just started restoring my thrift store finds so maybe one day I'll run into you! LOL
Cool
Thank you, Lani! Have a great rest of your weekend! :-)
is it possible to recolor a blue LV EPI to red?
Hi! It would be, but you would have to use acrylic paint and apply with an air brush.
what about the zips?
There's actually a separate video that went up right after this for how to dye the fabric of the zippers on this bag.
@@itsHadrian thank you
Will that dye work on a vinyl bag too? I've used leather dye in the past & it NEVER dries - even years later it rubs off - was a disaster.
