Tom Kennedy was an excellent game show host. He was always great on You Don't Say. May he rest in eternal peace.

In 1960's, most game shows used recorded music; but You Don't Say actually had in-house musicians. And I always loved that lively, tinkly theme song. The vibra-phonist was remarkable!

Back-to-back with the original Match Game with Gene Rayburn. NBC had a great game show lineup then.

I hope more episodes will somehow pop up one day especially the 1969 ones with the whistling sound effects (besides the couple already on here).

Color videotape of anything from daytime TV in 1967 is quite a rarity. This was definitely the tail end of the black and white era as evidenced by a couple of monochrome commercials. Less than 20% of U.S. households owned a color set in early 1967 but that was the year all three networks went full color with their programming.

This was a better game than it gets credit for. Some people said it was a ripoff of Password, but I don’t see any similarity.

The only thing that actually changed was the location of where Tom Kennedy on either side instead of the middle, which was used by Allen Ludden of Password at that time.

I liked Tom Kennedy as a game show host. But he did not seem to get the best shows to host (other than Name That Tune). Usually if I saw a new game show and he was the host, I tended to think the show was not long for a run on TV. He had an effervescent smile; I used to wonder if he was the model for the Sesame Street character Guy Smiley.

Thanks for posting this. I love watching episodes of the old game shows. There was a game show back in the 70's and I cannot think of the name to look it up, maybe you would know. The contestants watched a short movie clip, had to be very observant and then answer questions, very similar to concentration...any idea what it was called?

I think it was either The Reel Game (1971 with Jack Barry) or Hit Man (1983 with Peter Tomarken).

I don't get why one contestant could try to describe the word tinker, but the other didn't try to describe a bell. When can you go for an exact word (or homonym) in the name rather than something that sounded close to it?
