But first, the 88% of russians foaming at the mouths with ardent bloodlust and support of their dear leader (while quoting Soloviev's "it's not so clear cut") need to heal their schizophrenic condition right? If you mean sorting out by an armstice and another russian-orchestrated frozen conflict followed by business as usual, you're working for the depraved happy grandpa's cause.

Thank you for this report from the Russian Countryside. I was born in 1933 in a small village of about 250 people in Silesia - at that time it was German - after the war in became part of Poland. It also was a simple life at that time. Now I live in a small village in America with about 400 people, but the life-style has changed.

The farm life pictured here reminded me of visits to my grandparents that lived on a farm in eastern Oklahoma in the 1950's. Not all of America is cities and modern. Some parts were and are traditional.
My grandparents had chickens , cows, cats and dogs. But it is an increasingly disappearing lifestyle. Brought back memories!

I'm from Albania, thousands of km away from this village and yet, I find the village life in rural Russia extremely similar to what it used to be here until maybe 20 years ago (recently the villages are being abandoned and people migrate abroad or to bigger cities). Overall, the mentality and the approach to life looks quite similar to what it used to be in my country. And I find this similarity among all Eastern Europe and Balkan countries. My theory is that our similarities including some shared vocabulary for many objects, originate initially from the Byzantine Empire and later the communism. Somehow I just find it fascinating that if I would wake up in that village tomorrow I wouldn't feel in an alien place at all.

@@nah922 .....yes, I am sure things have changed there. I don't know which city your are near but I stayed with a nice family in Lezhe, the Beqo family.
I am sure the parents are gone by now but the son and daughter should still be alive.
The son was a journalist (older) and the daughter was Gentiana who knew English well and more involved with the small missionary church there. I also was in Tirana. We had such a great time there. It was just before the economic crash there when some evil American took advantage of many, many Albanians with some sort of money pyramid scheme which robbed them of their "investments" in his scheme! This among other things led to a breakdown in the Albanian economy which then led to rioting and gangs running the streets. We were back in America when it happened but we heard about it,...I guess it got pretty bad in some places there.
After 1998, I lost track of the people there so I never found out how things panned out except for what keeps happening in Kosovo. Farmenderit,(TY) for your reply....I am curious if you remember those years and a bit of information about yourself. God bless you! BTW, I subscribed ...take care!

Ohhhh seeing aunt Galya and the village was like going home. So good to see the familiar faces and places. You all have become like family to us your viewers/voyeurs. I grew up on a village farm of under 500, in South America. The life was difficult and poverty stricken but the peace and fulfillment of life no amount of money could buy. I guess there is always a trade off. Now I've been living in Canada for many, many years I've gotten used to city life, but always wish I could go back to the good old days.
Now we know what happened to Lana, hahaha!!! You bad boy. I keep thinking, very soon we'll be seeing little Slava/Lana running around on aunt Galya's farm chasing the chickens and getting dirty with the piglets. :)

That was a nice change of pace to see life in the countryside in Russia. That country breakfast looked delicious! Your parents and relatives are very nice down-to-earth people. Your aunt has a wonderful attitude. Although there are a small number people living away from cities, they have a community spirit-which makes life more interesting. (It’s easy to lose a community spirit in a big city.) I enjoyed the learning the history of the area. I grew up in and currently reside in the state of Pennsylvania, and there are many small towns and village and farms throughout the state that look very much like where you visited. There are some differences, of course. Although Alexander wants to attend college and become a software developer, advise him to hold onto that farm. Let him know that Artificial Intelligence is already writing computer code and could very well replace many software developers. The idea is to learn all about AI and utilize it to one’s advantage.

I always enjoy the visits to Aunt Galya's. Amazing that they have a community center and museum for 960 people. The dog always loves it when you come. I remember the Rainbow vacuum cleaners. My brother's friend was selling them door to door in the early 1970s. Wow, I didn't realize they were so expensive. Seeing the dirty water was always impressive. And Lena's pregnant!

Wow! How great to see your aunt and family again! Now we see why Lena hasn't been visible much - so much to look forward to! And Vika seems to be more comfortable with you filming her too. We lived in a community the same size as your aunt's and it didn't have a community center or a library or a choral group or a place for the guys to hang out together - I'm very impressed. Thanks for a peek into rural Russia, where people are still connected to their neighbors and value milk over Mercedes cars.

@@RussianPlus Well by a technicality yes with the emancipation act, however people were still kept living in miserable conditions, families living 20 people to a wooden shack with no access to healthcare, running water or any sort of basic rights. People were completely illiterate (over 80% of Russia was illiterate at the time of the revolution) and the landlords class and the tsars owned everything. That "family" you showed a picture of complimenting them would have been fuedal masters over many peasants, that is not a picture of the average Russian family in that era by many means, those people in that picture are gentried class and made out good of the backs of exploitation of peasants. I know lots of bad came with the USSR but what came before it was far far far worse. USSR built all your hospitals, infrastructure, industry, gave everyone access to healthcare and an education and lifted the literacy rate from under 20% to 99% in the span of 30 years. I understand you are an anti communist but let's not rewrite history or pretend there was a good times before Lenin. Existence before the revolution was a miserable rotten thing for over 4/5ths of your country. Everything modern Russia has and the society it was able to create is thanks to the freeing of peasants from the life of servitude, poverty and illiteracy they had known for hundreds of years. The only reason we got free healthcare in Britain, or the 5 day working week and 8 hour working day was due to the USSR doing it first. The only reason we got universal suffrage and everyone was given access to education was because the USSR done it first. Life was bleak for most even in the "western world". For example at the time of Russian revolution a 12 hour work day and 6 day working week was required in USA. Again I agree lots of bad things happened under Stalin, but Russia, the former USSR states and even all of us in the western world owe a great debt of gratitude to Lenin and the USSR for forcing our own countries to give their people more rights and access to services in order to stop communist revolutions taking hold in our countries. Britain never got socialised healthcare until the 1950's for example and was still colonising half the world until the end of WW2.
I love your videos by the way and appreciate the response, just I don't think you should have to shit on Russia's history just to assuage a western audience on youtube (though maybe that isn't why your doing it). There is a lot to be proud of about what Russia and the USSR achieved as well as obviously calling out the bad parts and criticising the things that went wrong. I do believe a history where the Russian revolution never happened leaves a worse world for all of us, one where workers never realised their power and all of us in Britain and USA would still be living lives of extreme poverty, working 12 hours a day with no voting rights or access to education or healthcare. All things we got much later than Russia did and only because you guys done it first.

    • @RussianPlus

Progress would have happened with or without the ussr . That family is a typical peasant family. Lenin started off by executing wealthy peasants and those who owned something. A maniac. A mass murderer. Of course he was succeeded by yet another monster stalin. A paranoid psychopath who killed millions. Every ex ussr country except for Belarus has a museum of Russian occupation.
