I was sitting in my living room in Manhattan watching this wonderful video and I suddenly had an urge to have some Uzbek plov for dinner. So I’m about to get on the subway and head for the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn to pick some up at the Tashkent Market, which has a large section of prepared hot foods representing not only Uzbekistan but many of the other cuisines of the former Soviet republics!
I googled it - Wow there is a supermarket called Tashkent! there are few videos about it. I was surprised how big and busy it is - big buffet (that's normal in most ex USSR) - lots of cooked food (they have NORIN! the food is not only Uzbek, but also Russian, Turkish, European etc) and salads along with normal groceries. Lots of Russian speech. Photos of Tashkent) Fantastic!
I love your videos so much Slava! You give me so many ideas, and insight, into places I'd love to travel to in the future. Thank you for your wonderful content. 😀

So nice to hear from you again! It was nice to see Konstantin's family visiting - how about your family? How do you keep in touch with them? You don't know what neurotic driving is like until you visit Saudi Arabia. I was in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia a month ago, and the drivers in western Saudi Arabia at least are maniacs(except for the newly-enfranchised women drivers from whom the males can learn lessons about proper driving).
Thank you Slava for sharing your thoughts and experiences about my hometown. But you know what I can say about my family we're not flush with money as well as others, we have 3 kids, my husband has a small business in Tashkent and only he is the breadwinner of our household, I don't like working but rather I love spending his money 😅, despite this we can afford leisure outdoor activities like skiing, etc, twice a month, and once a week sometimes twice a week we can eat in restaurants.
Great video, I had the opportunity to visit Uzbekistan . Beautiful country, but what impressed me the most was how safe I felt compared to any other countries and the USA where I live. With so many mass shootings becoming a norm here I’m really thinking about moving. Uzbekistan is a great place the only issue would be the visa for staying for long a long period. Great video!
Yet another wonderful country and culture I would love to visit but of limited means so will visit vicariously through your videos. Although I have an Uzbek restaurant here in London I will try after Lent is over.
