Omg! your story resonates with me so much. My parents brought me to New York from USSR in 1979. I was made fun of during attendance in school when a teacher tried pronouncing my last name, Kids made fun of my Russian accent and our clothes because parents could not afford Jordache jeans. My cousin was thrown into garbage cans by kids for not dressing in American branded clothes.. My friend and I did all we could to forget Russian language, we lied to people about us being Russian. We told everyone we were from Yugoslavia. We were hated for being Russian because there was a plane shot down in the 80s. We did everything possible not to be associated with Russia. Realizing now how stupid I have been. Now as an adult I work to live. Getting up at 4 am to go to work and not come home till 6:30 pm. Commuting with homeless and mentally unstable people 3 hours a day not feeling safe daily is weighing . The division in society is so huge. You can't say anything outside the narrative or you will be fired or shunned. You have to watch every word you say. We are living in a groundhog day. As an adult now I found My Russian soul. I dreamed as a child to go to Moscow but never did because here we were always told about the crime there and how unsafe it is there so we chose every other destination. One day we took a cruise to the Baltics and stopped in St Petersburg even thought we were never there or from there it felt like home for the soul. I will never forget that feeling. I am originally from Dnipropetrovsk but it was Russia (USSR) and I consider myself Russian and now very proud of it. One day I want to realize my dream of going to Moscow. I admire you guys that you made your move. Everything you say is a 100 percent. I regret not going there before the current events. My dream is still alive though. I can completely understand your feelings on this matter. I am born and raised American. Was a paratrooper, police officer …..exct….Lived the American dream.
I went to Ukraine in 2016 and met and fell in love with the most amazing woman…I also fell in love with the culture and the people. To move this story fast forward, when my wife and I were planning on marriage,we had to make the decision of where are we going to live. I had decided I wanted to stay there for the exact reasons you were describing….I could walk down the streets of Zaporizhzhia and not worry…here in the states I was always looking over my shoulder. I remember making the mistake while we were in Kiev train station, I walked into the lobby to check schedule and I was carrying my cup of coffee….I did not make in halfway into the lobby and I was surrounded by the babushka train police.😂 They immediately escorted me to a trash can to dump my coffee and was tag teamed by them in being berated….one woman realized I was a foreigner….and she explained to me as best she could that they take great pride in the cleanliness of there terminal…and it was so clean.
I remember also after a particularly hard storm , I went outside to sit on the bench in front of are apartment. I watched one of my neighbor babushka’s come out from the apartment building with a long stick and a piece of rope. She walked along and gathered straight sticks, then fastened them to the broom handle and began sweeping around our sidewalk leading to our building.
These things, along with my wife’s family and friends changed my mind what truly a wealthy person has…love and respect. I pleaded with my wife to have us stay there, but she wanted to experience and try livings here….her transition has been difficult. Though now she lives in her own home, has a nice car….she now also very misses the same thing I had found in Ukraine.
We are planning on returning, but for the circumstances now with the war…this is delayed.
It breaks my heart to see both Slavic nations tearing each other apart.
I do not blame Russia at all for this, for promises were made in 1991 that NATO would not expand to the borders of Russia, this promise has been broken. I wonder how Americans would react if China or Russia was involved in a civil war on our Mexican or Canadian border.
One more story, my wife’s best friend’s brother Sergei served in the Ukrainian armed forces when it was still CCCP. He served from 1989-1993……same years I was a U.S. Paratrooper.
We became best friends ! We sometimes would sit at his apartment having a few drinks and we would talk about our times in the military, and laugh at the propaganda that was fed to both of us….
My wife grew up during the CCCP…and though she hated communism, she said the people during that time were more kind and caring to one another….
In short, Good luck and may God guide you to happiness….

To be honest, I'm American but I've been to Russia a couple times with my girlfriend and to me Russia feels more 'alive' and real. Not sure how to describe it.
I mean I've had moments in Russia where just being driven in a car felt like a poetic experience. Guy in the countryside shows me his Lada car, It looks like its 40 years old and belongs in the junk yard but he said its somehow from 2005. I immediately notice an obviously deflated tire and feel confused but say nothing. We ride in the bumpiest shitty ride imaginable, The thing felt like it was falling apart while driving. It sounded like the engine could barely keep up. about 5 minutes later the tire goes flat to no surprise. He just says one word "problem" while smiling. We get out and he's still smiling and i offer to change the tire for him. I cut myself on my wrist and its bleeding while doing it and he says "like jesus" and we're laughing. To me that was the best car I ever rode in. The country side was very beautiful. This was in Suzdal, Vladimir
For example, in America it's the opposite, everything is perfectly in order and efficient. The worst thing that can happen to an American is for their car to breakdown on the way to something. Everything in meaningless and empty in this zone in between the 'important' things in life. This is just a small example of what I mean, but I think it's everywhere if you notice it. Nobody knows how to live in America, not the way Russians do. On New Years Eve spending the time with a Russian family made me realize this. It's just a much different experience. The family is much closer and just hangs out for days. I think I've heard this comes from soviet times, but I don't know. And the gift giving feelings more genuine. Everything about Russia just feels more like who I am inside, because I like more soulful living than mechanistic.
I also notice in russia a lack of care toward maintenance in general (unless it's from government, then it's the best). Like doors are left broken. It's strange from an American mind, where everything is maintained and smoothed over.
Further, I've had thoughts that the Russian soul is feminine. The people are rather submissive, and tend toward chaos, which traits of the feminine. I have this feeling like in Russia, everything works just barely, like a car running on empty. But the government is the masculine figure which keeps order. You can't even stand next to a statue while smoking without police telling you to step away. And the quality of the Metro goes without saying. So there is this duality of extreme maintenance and order, and a lack of order that I find there.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on Russia. I may have to move there to be with my girlfriend of 7 years who I havent seen since the war. Even though visiting Russia was the best time of my life, I don't really look forward to living there. But I don't know what choice I have anymore. BTW I am not Russian at all

Go in the Balkans than - Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Greece. The type of philosophy why we are living will cheer you up. Although some of the western toxicity is penetrating, it's still mild. We are living relatively poorly, especially comparable with US's extravaganza and this definitely have something to do with it. Also the region is so rich in history - so its kind of natural to be unconsciously introspective and have that spiritual spark.

I sure want out. America is being set up for the take down, and I also believe it’s 2024. With millions & millions of young fighting age men coming in from our borders, it’s all been planned for the take down. We’re done.
Our food alone is gross, water fluoridated, air chemtrails, mental health is on a decline, and the towers on every corner radiating us constantly to keep us weak. Time is soon up.

Оh Germany, a six-year-old child was taken from my friend 4 years ago in Germany because she did not allow him to buy a car in the store and he started to get hysterical and scream to buy it. She said no several times and shouted that he already had such houses and in kindergarten and that they had come only for food and would buy toys later, and she communicated with him in Russian. of course, she said no a little menacingly and what she would buy later so that he would understand that his whims and tantrums would not be fulfilled all the time, and the cashier of the store saw all this and it turns out she informed the boss and after my friend left, the police were already waiting for her, they were threatened to go to the police station or something in Germany and write how it was, and then they politely persuaded a social worker to come to her house JUST to SEE THE CONDITIONS, she foolishly agreed, and after a couple of hours people from the police came to her and, as it turned out, from the guardianship authorities and took the child away in tears just like that.
Then, after a time of trying to figure out long hikes from the police to custody, she found out that the seller did not report on her as an unbalanced mother who morally oppresses the child, this is slander and misunderstanding, but no one in Germany wants to listen to this, the child himself asks to go home, no one cares, even went to court about depriving her of parental rights without evidence anything but the words of the saleswoman in the store and that's it, everyone in court was like soulless robots or ruthless insensitive Nazis when it came to prisoners, in the end she roared and tried to prove that this was not fair, BUT alas in Germany, no one cares about the evidence and just to take away the children of migrants and raise them Germans and adjust to themselves, he was even forbidden to speak Russian when he asked his mother, thank God that for another 4 painful years when she was fighting to get her son back, she met people who helped her steal her son even then he was 8 years old, from a foster family that forbade them to see and even to speak with my mother in Russian only in German and in the presence of guardianship, Fortunately there were people who were able to pick him up after school and bring him to my mother and a few hours later they illegally crossed the border with Poland together, lived there for about a week and her relatives from Belarus already helped her to arrange with border guards to take the child and mother in Belarusian after explaining the situation and the tears of the mother, and after 4 years of torment and German cruelty, they returned home and never think about moving to the European Union, because this happens not only in Germany, but in Poland there is also a similar seizure under a fictitious pretext. She was lucky, but now there are a lot of videos of how children are taken away from Ukrainian refugees, there is even an exemption where the reason is stupidly loving when a woman was afraid of how a child would adapt and accompanied her daughter to school and took care of her, stupidly and mercilessly Europe steals children of migrants and refugees to make them those whom they benefit from.
There are hundreds of videos on UA-cam of Ukrainians who took their children away without an adequate reason. What kind of laws are there and many already regret that they decided to move even because of the situation in their country, and many also steal children back and leave to escape from such injustice in society

Im a 65 year old American veteran, born in central US. I served in the US Army from 1975-1978 in Berlin. I processed Sitrep Reports on Soviet Troop movements and the living conditions inside the Soviet Union. My friends there all had Top Secret security clearances, some were Linguists some communications. I had the chance to interact with Soviet soldiers from time to time. I came away that Russians were good people just caught in a bad situation. That was then and this is now. Russia is not the Soviet Union of old. Im not fooled by the propaganda of the US. I wish i was younger, if i was i would move to Russia. Thats not the case. What you said about the US is true. The Elite have taken control of our government. Look at Ukraine. We rigged the elections there and put in a puppet regeme. They want to steal the natural resources of Ukraine. Then the US wants to steal the resources of Russia. President Putin wont allow that. I have more respect for Russia then the US Government. I am fighting to get Trump elected because he can at least listen to leaders of Russia and China. I know in my heart that peace can happen but we need to remove idiots and evil from US leadership. Then peace can happen. Pray for the US. We need the prayers of the world to defeat the evil that permiates the US. I pray for your success in Russia and hope you find your soul in Crimea. God bless you and your family.

I sympathize. I grew up in a farming community where almost everyone was either 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation Polish. I didn't want to be Polish as there was still a considerable stigma associated with being a dumb Pollack. Long story short, I moved to eastern Europe 6 years ago. I am retired now and leaving the USA is the best thing I could have done. Does not matter if it is Russia or Poland or Slovakia, the fact is that 1/3 of all Americans are insane and Eastern Europe is still sane.
