There should have been an episode where Monica let out all her frustrations to judy just like Chandler did when his mother kissed Ross.
I think there is one such episode.. Where monica is catering in some function and she looses it when her mom doesn't believe in her.. She pulled a Monica.. Remember?
I imagined a fan fic where Monica’s mom passively criticizes the twins for not being real “Gellers” while Ross was able to father two children and that becomes the final straw for Monica that she lets it all out on her mom.

I do NOT understand how Monica was able to be so nurturing and kind to everyone else including her brother knowing how critical her parents (mostly her mom) always were. Truly a wonderful soul

Actually, it was hinted in another episode that Judy's mom treated her the exact same way she's treating Monica. But yeah they treated Ross like a prince since they kept his room the same but changed Monica's room into a gym.

Rebeca Why poor Ross, he was the favorite, while i don’t think Jack intendete topfavoritten Ross and insulting Monica, one of her kids will be named after him, and he tries to make it up to her, but Judy was always lousy towards Monica, Monica could never do anything right, even after she gets married to Chandler and Ross had been divorced 3 times, he still remained the favorite.

Anybody who has had a narcissistic/borderline abusive mother knows how true it is and is hard to take as a comedic delight. From Monica turning out independent and perfectionist to Ross being a naive golden child, the whole thing is perfectly portrayed. Makes me wonder how many of the writers had personal borderline/narcissistic mothers.

Some dark theories say that... apparently Judy had some affair with someone after Ross was born from which Monica was born. Hence Judy was so terrible to Monica because Monica reminded her of her cheating on Jack. ..and Jack just doesn't know about all this and is simply dimwitted ... Hence ends up insulting Monica unintentionally

Here's my problem, Monica thinks that she needs their approval and permission and she tries to rely on Ross's failures when she doesn't even need her parents at this point in her life. They're only in her life because she lets them.

They're not worthy of Monica. I don't talk to my parents because they were always comparing me with my cousins because they can do this or that. And people think I had all the attention, because I'm an only child, and I had, in the worst way you can think of. I was taken for granted. I will never talk to them ever.

The thing is, while it's awful how Judy can be so passive aggressive with her daughter, it's made clear that Judy's mother was exactly the same way with her, and that Monica may be heading that way herself. The 'Monica? You're Mom.' comments come early, and her controlling behaviour intensifies to start paralleling that of her mother. Then right at the end one of the first things she says after the birth of baby Jack is 'I'm going to love you so much that no other woman will ever be good enough for you'...which is more than a little how Judy treats Ross. I think Monica has too much of Jack's good nature to ever be quite as bad as Judy (or treat her children differently), and hopefully Chandler will further temper it, but I wouldn't be wholly surprised to see a few of her mother's behaviours sneak out.
