And as for retraining, my dude, the man has lived and died through more trauma than most other people and on top of that holds a pretty high position in the foundation so it would both be near impossible to archive and hard to enforce.
I think that was an important lesson, if you're going to work on the SCP foundation ethics committee you best be ready stare into the void until it blinks.
@@kainevins9927 Why scrap a character in a place like SCP because of that reason? Once there made there everyones, we all adopt them. By time there known there no longer even the creators character its everyone's character and they can be reused.
The answer to this question is incredibly simple, the puppy is either teleported from elsewhere or anomalously produced and you have to supply children to the first one. Not only is it a better use of resources to cancel the first one but assuming the puppies are produced anomalously that's at least a moral gray area.
More to the point, i had a teacher once do a film studies course assign Alien, the original movie, which we watched in class. I think i was the only person who had seen it before. So yeah, i was watching him when the big jumpscare happened. The whole class shrieked, he was quietly giggling with tears in his eyes.
ethics committees in research facilities are typically more of a advisory role anyway like determining if the moral cost is worth the scientific benefit or if the scientist is just being sadistic for the sake of being sadistic
I wish people understood that the person who is actually the writer of Dr bright (the actual mod) it's just a sweet furry artist who does skateboard art IRL. He's a really cool buddy I remember when I first met him he said he loved my art so much he brought me like 20 anime art books. Absolute sweetheart.
I mean this is a good test to see if the new ethics committee members can handle horrific scps and that they can only try to make things more humane, you know cold, not cruel. So doing atleast part of this and proposing a moral quandary like this would be an interesting thought experiment. Regardless bright definitely shouldnt be allowed to be near newcomers
This one is simple, It's the Pinata that should be stopped & the Claw machine to continue. The claw machine spawns the Puppies without cost to the foundation. While the Pinata takes additional juvenile subjects that requires greater resources to gather versus no material cost for the claw machine.
Dr Bright did a service taught em a important lesson, the world is horrible and you can't change anything. A fantastic wake up call for those wide eye idealists.
Lol that is what the claw machine thinks doesn't it. Also I'd think the SCP-956 is worse sense it's actively hostile however the claw machine just +Puppy -Puppy +Cookie It only does moral harm.
Honestly, I think Dr. Bright was smart for posing that question for people attempting to join the ethics committee. The foundation was incredibly cruel during its early days, and members of the ethics committee would have to wrestle with situations like the one he posed quite often. Clearly, none of these people were ready to join the ethics committee
I honestly think this was a good choice on his end, because you get them to see the full scope of the horrors they wpuld have to deal with on an hourly basis, and you get to weed out the emotionally weak
I think Dr.Bright was doing the right thing, the foundation has alot of insane SCPs and some will make you test your morals. I think it is safe to say by giving them a tough choice he tested their morals.
Dr. Bright continues to be an absolute menace like the time he challenged scp-96 to a staring contest and watched and laughed as it tore its way through the site to get to him
I would stop pinata testing, as the puppies are brought into existence for a very short period of time by the machine, while the children have to be brought from an outside source, and this concerns me greatly.
To be fair, Dr. Bright wasn’t wrong on this. His explanation does point out that even if you're on the ethics committee, you can’t necessarily stop every bad thing. And their reasonings as to why they picked what they did is a show of character.
I like to believe that, at this point, Dr. Bright is basically an inside joke with the amount of stupidly hilariously sort of genius shit that he seems to have done at the foundation, he seems like he’s basically the primary suspect in every single courtroom to date.
Dr.Bright once sent me a custom made 2D pixel rpg for the GBA. I didn't want to play it for fear of what it could be. The next day I found my GBA SP open, with the game inside, and the system turned on. I immediately closed the door to my office and ran out of the house to call for containment. Apparently, it cannot be moved and it can not be turned off. Anyone that touches it is pulled into the game. Thanks, Dr.Bright. I can hear screaming from my office 24/7 now.
You know considering bright's story it makes sense to try and get these people used to how things happen in the foundation and how cruel and very conplex these horrible situations are right off the bat because this will be the bs they will have to deal with 100% of the time on the ethics committee
Honestly, that's a genius test for ethics students. A no win scenario where ultimately your choice doesn't matter? It's a good way to get people who truly understand ethics..........and sociopaths but it's 50/50

And as for retraining, my dude, the man has lived and died through more trauma than most other people and on top of that holds a pretty high position in the foundation so it would both be near impossible to archive and hard to enforce.
The guy that created dr bright got banned from the wiki he was being a creepy
Retrain works too but did you mean restrain?
The list works but only because he sees it as a game
I think that was an important lesson, if you're going to work on the SCP foundation ethics committee you best be ready stare into the void until it blinks.
D.r Bright shouldn't even be allowed to have a host. He should just be put into a box, never to be opened
To be fair, that’s an excellent example of what it’s like to work in the Ethics Committee
Hey, so this story is really creepy now lol
The fact that a near completely morally devoid organization has an ethics committee in the first place is cruel
Yea and his author is also a child lover
"Please, keep Dr.Bright away from my daughter. I fear for her life around him...Maybe that's why she's scared to leave SCP 999." Dr.Gray.
It appears that you are a bit behind the times. There appears to be a movement to remove Bright as a character
Whys he beong removed tho??

@@kainevins9927 If that was a enough reason to get rid of a fictional character, Deadpool would be trashed because Rob Liefeld.
I mean… it sounds like a legit question for ethics committee trainees, especially at the foundation. Good work, Doctor Bright.
That's actually a good way to test them though. Maybe a little early, but a good test.

Everytime a story starts with “Dr. Bright” you know it’s either gonna be something stupid, or something horrifying.
Dr. Bright is a Chill dude just let him chill
“…so what does the ethics committee do? What’s the boundaries? Cause I haven’t seen any.” D-3576
Dr. Sherman thank you for telling me this I will have to have a serious talk with him.
As soon as I heard doctor Bright my brain just went “oh sh*t”
"Dr. Bright-"
You win the contest for worst thing a teacher did.
That reality check is needed for ethics committees members
I personally cal the list of things Dr. Bright is not allowed to do at the facility “reasons to be friends with Dr. Bright”
At this Point i bet that The list of what Dr. Bright isnt allowed to do is bigger than a damn file cabinet
I think he should be reinstated in whatever he was doing at the time.
And those who stayed behind were more effective members of the ethics committee for it
I wish people understood that the person who is actually the writer of Dr bright (the actual mod) it's just a sweet furry artist who does skateboard art IRL. He's a really cool buddy I remember when I first met him he said he loved my art so much he brought me like 20 anime art books. Absolute sweetheart.
The worst/best bit is that its a legitimately valid way of showing just how fucked it must be for the ethics committee
tbh i never really thought about it but some of the stuff dr bright does is stuff my dad would 100% do if he worked at the foundation
You know its gonna be horrific when dr. Bright is involved
Its a good way of teaching them that the foundation does some very messed up things to keep people safe
Okay but at the same time he did end up expressing oerfectly the heartbreaking horror of the ethics committee
“Oh your favorite dogs dead and your crying about it? Whatchu want, a fuckin cookie?”
Lol that is what the claw machine thinks doesn't it.
Also I'd think the SCP-956 is worse sense it's actively hostile however the claw machine just
+Puppy

+Cookie
It only does moral harm.
I honestly think this was a good choice on his end, because you get them to see the full scope of the horrors they wpuld have to deal with on an hourly basis, and you get to weed out the emotionally weak
that list will never stop growing
Id probably say the child one, unless we find out that the claw machine is taking puppies, then i'd join the ethics committee
As someone who strongly dislikes both children and puppies, I see this as an absolute win.
I think Dr.Bright was doing the right thing, the foundation has alot of insane SCPs and some will make you test your morals. I think it is safe to say by giving them a tough choice he tested their morals.
I mean he did do his job
He got to the point, provided a thought provoking question.....and then procceded to break the harsh truth
Dr. Bright continues to be an absolute menace like the time he challenged scp-96 to a staring contest and watched and laughed as it tore its way through the site to get to him
In fairness it was a solid test of their ethics
-Dr.Smith
Whenever a story starts with "Dr. Bright..." or "When Dr. Bright..." you KNOW it's gonna be funny as hell
Honestly he posed a decent question, they need to know exactly what they’re getting into.
The puppy one because puppies aren't an SCP but children are. More dead children = less SCP 001.
I like to believe that, at this point, Dr. Bright is basically an inside joke with the amount of stupidly hilariously sort of genius shit that he seems to have done at the foundation, he seems like he’s basically the primary suspect in every single courtroom to date.
I regret nothing.

Y'know, sometimes it feels like numbers can only ever go up
You know considering bright's story it makes sense to try and get these people used to how things happen in the foundation and how cruel and very conplex these horrible situations are right off the bat because this will be the bs they will have to deal with 100% of the time on the ethics committee
I remember that day... so many people needed counseling because of it....
i think that is a good moral question for a job like that
Honestly, that's a genius test for ethics students. A no win scenario where ultimately your choice doesn't matter? It's a good way to get people who truly understand ethics..........and sociopaths but it's 50/50
