I found SCP though the infographic show and here SCP explained videos. The animation is fine in my opinion, they credit the wiki and from what I’ve read there videos are accurate
I have something to add/corroborate here: No animator became an animator because they wanted to put out shoddy work. From my knowledge of the industry, low-quality animation ( _especially_ of the kind produced by TheRubber) almost invariably indicates bad working conditions for animators -- low budget, too few people, bad oversight, or not enough time, and usually come combination of the four. I've seen single animators working alone produce really great work -- when they have the time and independence to craft their art as they need. I've seen incredibly low-budget productions produce really great work -- when they have the personnel and freedom to work around their limitations. So... yeah, TheRubber is not treating their artists well. Best-case scenario is that they're intentionally going out and getting really inexperienced artists -- specifically so that they can get people who won't realise that they're being underpaid. It's bad.

Thanks for pointing it out as an actively growing SCP creator! Finally someone is pointing out the facts! Heres some channels i reccomend: Dr Bob SCP Animated SCP ILLUSTRATED SCP Explained There may be more out there, but these are my personal favorites
Dr. Sherman, thank you for making this video. TheRubber brought me into the fandom (technically Shootabirdie when he made smth abt 096) finding out about this is kind of disappointing. I did start to see red flags with the whole art quality being bad and quick uploads. So, thank you for this.
Personally, I used to watch the rubber occasionally, but just for SCP's I couldn't find elsewhere, and by elsewhere I mean SCP's not covered by SCP Explained, a far superior alternative, and where I get most of my current SCP content, they do very well narrated videos, and whilst the animation is in that Corporate Advertisement style, I find it quite charming to see these SCP's in that style, and plus with my animator brain, I usually just imagine it looking way cooler than it actually does.
Dang, this actually makes me kinda sad to hear. Not that I was a huge fan of The Rubber or anything, but like many people, they were my first introduction to the SCP universe as a whole. What bothers me more is (if I remember correctly) they refer to themselves in one of their videos as a single freelance animator who made the videos for fun. Not a money-making scheme. I did think that it was kind of weird how fast they uploaded, but didn’t really put too much thought into it. But now that I know all this, I definitely will be removing my subscription to their channel. I don’t have any tolerance for art thieves or channels with no heart or thought other than money behind them
Not only that, they say to head over to their second channel where they talk about their "life experiences" at the end of every video lol. Which just takes you to RubberToons and has absolutely nothing about The Rubber's personal life
I'm glad that The Rubber wasn't my first introduction to the SCP Universe - it was Fredrick Knudsen's 'Down the Rabbithole' series. They weren't even my first introduction to SCP animations - that honour goes to both Lord Bung and Tales from the Foundation.
It pains me to say this but I actually used to be a fan of TheRubber and many other animation channels. But then I started noticing he was deliberately shortening videos for ad revenues and he was always at the top of the search results leaving the rest of the scp channels in the dust. And whenever someone tries to call him out his fans always have his back and start sending hateful comments to everyone. Thank you for addressing these issues
I only recently found this channel but by god is it amazing, I had my suspicions of the rubber for quite a while but never dug too far into it all. I wish you all the best Dr. Sherman and thank you for warning us about such a dangerous hazard.
I have always stayed away from the big companies making SCP content. the infographics SCP Channel, the Rubber, and similar channels. because while I'm sure that an amount of the people working on those projects do truly love the SCP community don't care about the product. there's enough good creators out there who are truly a part of the community that I do not need to watch the ones who are exploiting us
The infographics Channel is called Scp explained and before I watch the videos I check the Wiki page of each SCP they do. And they get it very accurate they told the story how it was meant to be told then explain what it is. So that is a trustworthy Channel.
@@thermslusitania1151 say what you want about them but they try to be accurate and respectful. Again this douche gives the other animated channels a bad name. I mean ffs, look at Bob, SCP exposed, Dr cat and luscious. They try really hard on those animations.

I originally was introduced to scp through them after seeing other channels I see how watered down they are even compared to similar quality channels like scp explained
Doctor void in SCP explained those are two good ones they accurate with the stories and Talent accurately even describe each character in it those I never examples of a good pipeline
4:43 it’s important to note that lord bung will likely never come back. What happened there is tied in with another massive drama that happened a while ago, and bung seems to have just vanished from the web.
I’ve been kind of a foot-in-the-door casual member of the fandom for a while (actually Site-42 resparked my interest in it after a year or two of nothing, so thank you!), and am currently a member of multiple other fandoms with huge content-farm issues, and can vouch for these points. If someone puts effort into art, even if it isn’t the best, you can still tell they tried, and care. The rubber has none of that -most content farms don’t either- and it’s clear that they most likely don’t treat their artists too well, or have any investment in the fandom. Thank you for the information, and I hope you, and anyone reading this, has a nice day!
i was pretty young when i found scp, a while before the rubber, they came out of a big wave of SCP animators amidst the pandemic, i often watched channels like Mr Illustrated and such, i don't know why i didn't recognize the rubber's content being considerably worse than others, i guess it's hard to catch on to quality drops at a young age or just a problem with me, i forever thank people like you who call them out on their bs to bring the newcomers to the really good content
Honestly I usually just what SCP explained because their vids tell the stories in so much detail it’s so cool and also I couldn’t relate more when you said about confinement 😂

And when on at least one occasion he's released a video after the original author talked to the team, fixing the message to be more in line with the original authors intent.
I thought it was oddly suspicious that The Rubber was pumping out more animated content than a few others that make the same or similar kinds of things, as animation usually takes a long time to do and even longer if it's just a few people or one person doing everything. I first thought nothing of it, until I saw that the video they did of the Man-Bear was completely changed from its original story and that suspicion rose even more with that and with SCP-073 on the Object Class being Keter when it's actually supposed to be Euclid. I slowly began to lose faith in The Rubber and am now glad that I have moved on to other channels that actually try to put in quality content; channels including SCP: Explained (they also have some crazy What If? scenarios), Dr. Bob, who sets the files with original stories, and Professor Lucius, who utilizes their own characters and unique stories that lead up to the files, while also using important life lessons at the end of each one (they also collaborate with some Patrons from time to time).

Doctor Sherman, while you're right to call out The Rubber for all it's inaccuracies and disregard of the Fandom, I think you weaken your point a little by pointing out the upload schedule thing. There are a couple animators with a busy schedule like that like Telepurte for an example of non SCP content that make really good content practically daily. There's also SCP Explained by the people behind the Infographics Show, while not amazing animators, still put in a bunch of effort in making sure the story is correct, and cites the community in every video, while also having a daily upload schedule. I agree with your points doc about the Rubber, I'm just suggesting that not everything made frequently is inherently bad.
You’re totally right! The schedule alone is not a bad thing, and if they were putting out quality work on that schedule, I’d congratulate them. But they obviously aren’t, and maybe if they took the time, they wouldn’t have so many issues. Good point 🤙
I don't trust The Infographics Show and its alt channels for info accuracy, since they also are content farms too I remember ppl used to complain abt the inaccuracies of TIS's SCP videos
Scp explained is also misrepresenting and is skipping important details in at least some of the stories including the ouroboros cycle, scp 3002 and scp 4812. They have also shadow band the names of some of the original scp UA-camrs including the exploring series, scp illustrated and thevolgun in the comments on all their videos.
@@Site_42 personally I always found the rubber cringe but some people do have videos everyday you got to keep in mind some people legit have a lot of time on their hands a lot of times videos take long because some people have busy lives and don't have time for a daily upload schedule

He turned SCP-5683 into a version of a creature named Choo-Choo Charles from a game of the same name. I don’t think SCP-5683 actually looks like that.
It does.
Thanks for pointing it out as an actively growing SCP creator! Finally someone is pointing out the facts! Heres some channels i reccomend:
Dr Bob
SCP Animated
SCP ILLUSTRATED
SCP Explained
There may be more out there, but these are my personal favorites
What about detective void or is he corporate as well
@@F-22-Rapt0rthey don't respect CC, and they basically make the videos to bait children to pump up the numbers.
Yeah Dr.bob is reallt good i agree
Oh yeah, I watch SCP Explained
@@F-22-Rapt0r He is Sadly
I have always been curious about this...something was just not quite right about that channel. thanks for the info
I think the first person I ever really saw was SCP explained
I really appreciate what you do for this community sherm thankyou.
Wait wha
I only recently found this channel but by god is it amazing, I had my suspicions of the rubber for quite a while but never dug too far into it all. I wish you all the best Dr. Sherman and thank you for warning us about such a dangerous hazard.
4:33 that aged like milk 💀
How so?
Looking back at the rubber, the fact that he is a content farm really shows in recent terms.
I miss the old rubber where we didnt mind him.

I first watched The Rubber but it never seemed the best quality. But now i don't watch it because of the better creators like SCP illustrated and Dr Sherman, who even make me want to make drawings and explanations of my favorite SCPs.

They also draw 173’s copyrighted design to this day, never made their own design or use someone’s redesign
It just baffles me
You mentioning Lord Bung made me sad, considering what happened...
I myself dropped therubber more than a year ago. Reasons? Quality went down, stories were cut short, inaccuracies grew. Now the fucker creeps me out.
I shall discuss promoting this guy with O5-▇, as he has gone above and beyond with protecting the SCP foundation and preventing the spread of misinformation about our foundation and those inside of it.
-O5-1
May or may not have said, idk
Wait, wouldn’t the o-5 WANT misinformation to be spread about the foundation?
Why do I keep running into you guys...?
why censor 05-something's name but not your own?
O5-3 here, I fully support the promotion of Dr. Sherman.
It's always nice to be informed. Thanks for researching into this and sharing it. I've now set the Rubber to not be recommended by UA-cam. :)
To be honest. I know the SCP content creators and animated universe creators are at an odd end but this hurts all the animated channels too.
I knew the rubber was bad but this? The rubber doesn’t deserve fame.
While TheRubber wasn't the one who introduced me to The SCP Foundation community, I actually don't remember who was to be honest, TheRubber was the one who sparked my interest in the community if I remember correctly. It breaks my heart now knowing that TheRubber is a content farm and thieves.
Thanks for making this video doc, I needed that slap of reality.
The scp community is one of the very few communities smart enough to work together to stop bots, view farming, etc
very good at keeping it from getting oversaturated by meme channels and kids
Doing the lords work, Sherm ✊
“We’ve been waiting 5 months for confinement”
Oh boy, we’re never getting it, for good reason too.
I knew their animation sucked but they were the first SCP related things that I got into after I started looking at the actual stories and finding better creators that actually explain the stories properly I moved away from them I found you guys thanks to it so that's a good thing
I originally was introduced to scp through them after seeing other channels I see how watered down they are even compared to similar quality channels like scp explained
Guess we need to figure out our own SCP animation pipeline...
Doctor void in SCP explained those are two good ones they accurate with the stories and Talent accurately even describe each character in it those I never examples of a good pipeline
4:43 it’s important to note that lord bung will likely never come back. What happened there is tied in with another massive drama that happened a while ago, and bung seems to have just vanished from the web.
well, he was the entire reason I am obsessed with SCP. man. I am sad now.

The name refers to what their fathers really needed
You gotta continue to fight back against these guys
Ironic that you pointed things out before about the Rubber being slightly sketchy, then things was noticeable as well getting worse
2:22 the only understandable thing about them, the company is Chinese and lgbt is illegal there
Honestly I usually just what SCP explained because their vids tell the stories in so much detail it’s so cool and also I couldn’t relate more when you said about confinement 😂
Same for me I enjoy it a lot but also watch Doctor void he doesn't very accurate and he even has his own backstory for his character
@@thermslusitania1151 Detective Viod tends to go off in an unexpected directions coming up with theories to expand on the article. @@Site_42 can't get enough of him, And he's always got me hyped for the next video
I… can’t argue with that, he’s got good evidence to expose TheRubber. He got some damn good evidences.
I was so confused when bc at start i mainly watched ruber makeing me confused on many cannon stories and theories

The Lord Bung bit aged VERY poorly 💀💀💀
I want someone to handle me like he handles that pen.
For Tele specifically while his quality is amazing it's alot shorter than what the rubber does ( its still amazing tho)
I don't trust The Infographics Show and its alt channels for info accuracy, since they also are content farms too
I remember ppl used to complain abt the inaccuracies of TIS's SCP videos
Scp explained is also misrepresenting and is skipping important details in at least some of the stories including the ouroboros cycle, scp 3002 and scp 4812. They have also shadow band the names of some of the original scp UA-camrs including the exploring series, scp illustrated and thevolgun in the comments on all their videos.
@@Site_42 personally I always found the rubber cringe but some people do have videos everyday you got to keep in mind some people legit have a lot of time on their hands a lot of times videos take long because some people have busy lives and don't have time for a daily upload schedule
For those who havent seen anyone else yet, MR ILLUSTRATED is an excellent ulterior option here.

Question: Is Dr. Bob someone I could Trust with SCP Animations?
Most likely not
I'd check the runtime. If an article like SCP 079 can be made into a video 10 minutes long... its pretty obvious they're trying to appease the algorithm and are in it for the trend/money.
I'd go for SCP Illustrated, his stuff is really good.

Back when I was right into scps (I still am just not nearly as much) I watched the rubber all the time not knowing any of the bad stuff they did, but there was a point were i just flat out stopped watching it because I watched a video on another SCP and they would make a vid of it and it was so frustrating how many things they cut out and got wrong
