    You spoke of a $42 batch that disappeared real quick in this video and the date was dec 8. I looked back at my ordered and I would be the one who took that $42 batch at that time. Too funny. So great meeting you today.

    Hi Jen! I have only been doing IC for about a month and learned about your UA-cam today. You have already given me a bunch of good ideas. Two questions - Should it always show you how many times the customer has used IC? I think I saw that info only once so far (unless I just didn't notice). Also, could you specify what lanyard from Amazon that you prefer? Thanks!

      I highly recommend getting an inexpensive gimbal for your phone for smooth footage, even when speed up. I had one for our 2019 trip compared to 2018 and there is a considerable difference ;)

    Just an FYI. Seems when there’s a double batch and only one tip. The first delivery is the non tipper. All of the batches I have done with a non tipper, that person was always the first delivery.

    Day before yesterday I got a bunch of cans of tomato products and at register saw one can was dented a bit on one side..had I seen that I would have changed it while shopping.
    But something told me my customer would not mind..and they were nice as I thought and said nothing..gave me 5 stars 🌟 and a real nice comment 😍

      Hi Jennifer! Always paper when given the option. Customers like paper so much more and the groceries look so much cleaner and tidy. Try to keep all cold items in one bag, produce in another... etc. I am pretty picky about the way the groceries are being bagged, and if a bagger is not paying attention, I will kindly step in. If your stores only have plastic, you can't do anything about it. Just keep your like items together. Have fun!💛

      You will do great. You don't scan the produce, only weigh it in most cases. 💛

    Great tips as always thanks Jan I did have one question about double batches and how you can tell which customer is tipping what amount I saw you pulled one up and stated that he could not see what the second customers was tipping but you could see what first customer was just wondering how this is done thanks

      Hi Kimberly. Instacart does this intentionally. You can’t ever see the tip of the second customer until delivery. Instacart Burys the non-tip orders with the tipped orders. so that shoppers will take them. It’s not right and they don’t want shoppers to see this, therefore it is not transparent. Not cool. 💛

    I noticed you picked up deli first. That was a cold/hot item, wasn't it? Should that have been picked up towards the end? Just the Newbie trying to figure it all out.😊

    I’ve been an instacart shopper since may last year and I find it to be better than Uber eats.
    I’m glad to see some similarities we share on how we meet our weekly mark.
    I did notice you only took pictures of the receipt. Why not add the items in the picture option?
    I don’t know if it’s just me but I was not taking pictures of the items to go along with the receipt and would notice people would falsely report that I would get the wrong item or there was missing a item. But when I began to include the pictures of the groceries with the receipt I would not get any false reports.
    Do you believe taking the pictures of the receipt and groceries is best to prevent false reports from customers that are not appreciative of ones work?

    One thing I do different is whe I am about 3-4 items left I will send my customers a message saying I will be done very shortly as there is only three items left if there are any last minute items you can think of before I’m done shopping feel free to message me and I will add those items on my end if I’m able to find them. Just seems to help customers a lot and I have a lot of add-ons which only increases our pay but it also prevents you from having to sit there and wait till you’re at the register and the customer ass yes can you do me a favor and go grab this? This allows you those few extra minutes to finish their shopping in them a few minutes to walk around their house if they saw the message fast enough to say yes can you grab this and just so happens items on your way to the register or could be out-of-the-way but either way it’s a little extra pay for you in a feather in your Cap

    I used some of your tips today. It's amazing how you don't think of the SIMPLEST of things. I was shopping for vitamins and thought I'd never find them bc there are only a zillion kinds. When I enlarged the pic I noticed it had a purple top. Found it in 2 seconds. There were a couple others but I can see how this can really increase your speed.
    Also, I've noticed that I've had a 1-star and a 4-star rating removed (I'm in my 3rd week). Wish I knew what the customers weren't happy about. The only thing I can think of is that I replaced some organic eggs with a brand that was $6.99. Ouch! Well I did try and contact him. In any event, is there a standard on what you should do if a customer doesn't get back to you on replacements. Do you roll with it or refund? I'm curious what others do. Damned if you do damned if you don't. You can get dinged on a rating bc somebody doesn't like your replacement or you might get dinged bc you didn't replace something?

      Hi. In my app, The intro message automatically pops up for me. But depending on the customer, I tailor each message accordingly. I try to personalize and not be generic. It has really been working for me. 💛

    Hi just so you know I am from Canada and from what I am hearing. We don't generally get a list of possible batches to choose from like you do down in the States! Up here we are lucky if you see more then 2. Batches at a time!! Most times up here it's a batch is showing and within seconds it is gone! Just thought you should know!

    Hi, sometimes checkout lines to pay can be long. I want to know how to get my speed up.When exactly you do you press "checkout" on your Instcart app?

      You are being timed from the moment you start your batch until you have picked the last item. You'll notice a running time at the bottom right corner.
      Again, once you've finished shopping and you've hit "checkout," your time shopping stops. From that point on, going through the checkout process and dropping off the groceries isn't hurting you.
      One thing I learned from talking to other IC shoppers is that if you can get to the store quickly after accepting the batch and you know the stores layout pretty well, start grabbing a few of the items that you know exactly where they're shelved at. This will save you several minutes and will help get your time down. After grabbing say, 5-6 items, start the batch. Scan these and you'll have 5-6 done in just seconds. The app doesn't red flag for this. Rather, it only recognizes you workibg quickly through the batch.

    I have found that (at least in my area) the slower days are the better days because less people are shopping. If the good batches pop up I have a better chance of grabbing them.

      Absolutely! Always gather as many items as you can in your cart. When you receive the first warning, start shopping. It will save tremendously on your time. This is how everyone gets their speed down. 💛

    I have kind of a weird question but I’m still new to IC and still learning. Where I live, there’s another city about an hour away that everyone travels to all the time that has a lot more things to do than in my city. My mom actually has a second job in that other city. I took her to her second job a few days ago to get some work done and a lot of batches were popping up while I was there. I wanted to do some, because it’s been very slow in my area lately. Am I allowed to do those other batches, or is it best I stay in my “zone”?

      Hi and thank you for your question. You are absolutely allowed to shop another other zones. And I suggest you do it! This is a huge plus for Instacart shopper‘s. Every summer I spend time in Chicago and I always batch there. It’s great and it’s an opportunity to increase your earnings. I said do it and do it often!! It is not against Instacart‘s policy and it is perfectly OK to do. 💛

    Hey Jen I started hiding myself from being seen as an instacart shopper 😂 I noticed cashiers will toss your groceries so you have to come off as a regular shopper until they almost finish bagging. I thought it was pretty funny, having to disguise myself

      Hi Warren! Ohhhh manmnnn. That’s too bad! Unfortunately, there are incredibly rude IC shoppers out there, and I see them every day, first hand. Cashiers make assumptions when they encounter all IC shoppers, that were are Aweful. I am able to usually turn them around, and now most employees are very friendly with me. I completely understand why you are incognito! Ugh! 💛

      This happens a lot. I'm in Phoenix AZ. I will watch the customer service provided before. I can have the slowest cashier. When I present that I'm instacart shopper and then I'm going to bag my own groceries which is do for every batch. the cashier suddenly turns into Superman cashier and a scanning and pushing down items as fast as they possibly can. I feel like i get bullied all the time..

      I noticed the same thing, Dub. What I do when I see that happening is engage the cashier with some chit chat and more often than not they relax a little when I do. Figuring out what to say is challenging but asking if they have any great weekend plans generally leads to a decent mini-conversation (unless it's Tuesday) and sometimes telling them the good things about Instacart works too, maybe because they don't realize some of the perks: gross daily earning potential, there's no boss, own hours, nobody in your car, etc.

      My cashiers are liking me so far. I put my items on the belt in groups of what goes into 1 bag, then another, and so on. Pasta and sauces, dairy, meat items, canned items, packages of veggies with some light fruit/veggies, heavy vegetables and fruits - apples/carrots/parsnips/oranges, eggs/breads, etc. Beauty/hygiene, laundry/dish soaps. They say it makes their job much easier. Yes, I don’t mind them bagging. It helps me focus on what I need to do. Here they do a phenomenal job bagging.

    I have a 4.98 rating and there is only 1 batch available for me right now and it's miles away. When I do a batch at any store these days I'm surrounded by Instacart shoppers. Is anyone else experiencing this?

    Jen i just had strangest batch. Delivery address was store address ( ????) Well, IC called 3 times me once plus texting customer. Had to remove batch. IC gave me the 7.00 anyway. But was this a scam? Just never happened before

    What's the reason for going into the store and collecting the first few items before doing "start shopping"? Is it because Instacart tracks your shopping time and so this is a way to keep the time per item down?

      Good morning, Mary. Once we photograph the receipts and upload them, Instacart then creates their own receipt and will make them accessible to the customer through the app. We need to save our receipts for at least two weeks because often there are discrepancies that require clarification. So please make sure you were keeping your receipts organized and safe. After two weeks you can discard them. Customers can view the receipt through the app electronically. 💛

    What do you do when shopping for an item for a customer & it says ,"Buy one get one free" and you can't reach your customer through chat & they have a "No contact" delivery? I'm afraid to get them 2 because they might misunderstand and think they were charged for 2.

      Hi T.C. I do you not get the free item. I strictly go by what is on the app. One time I thought it would be nice and grab the buy one get one free item for the customer, but when I got to the register the customer did not have loyalty card and therefore she was charged twice. Never again. Lol

    I can tell that you've got a lot of my ways when it comes to accepting batches. A double Costco batch for 23 bucks and 15 miles, not happening so no thanks. The most I'll drive on a single or double batch is 8 miles and it has to be a good payout. And I never accept a triple and never accept the ones 20 and 30 minutes away. Their food will be spoiled by the time you get to the customer's house!

    Watch out for the customer choice replacements. I had a customer who wanted Lactose Free Blue Bonnet Butter. Store was out of stock and customer choice replacement was the Regular Blue Bonnet Butter. It didn't feel right to me. People don't just order lactose free stuff for no reason. I asked her if the Regular was her replacement choice and she said she did not pick a replacement. IC needs to stop doing this. Customer could have gotten real sick if I had gotten the replacement. Not the first time I have seen this happen.

    Taking a single batch is smart and you can always receive an add on. With the add on you know the tip from the 2nd customer and all the other details where as if you take a double batch initially you only see the total tip amount and not who tipped what.

      Add-ons were lucrative at the beginning for me (got a $60 order from PCC, then offered an add on for another $60, each customer tipped $30+); then 3 weeks after this new feature was released, IC started offering me only insulting add-ons, which I declined. Now, I haven’t gotten any add-on offers in a week even when the batches I selected only had fewer than 20 items. I think that IC might have reversed the way they offer add-on, making it the opposite of what they used to do. When my partner accepted a small batch, he gets offered lucrative add-ons, but when I accepted a good batch (one that makes me $40/hr in Seattle), I didn’t get any add-on offers. It could be that because I have been declining multiple add-ons in a row that were not worth my time and gas money, IC stopped offering them to me. These are just my observations.

      Same here no add on lately for me ether but I never got good ones at all I declined them all from the beginning. The most I was offered was like $25 I never saw no 40 or 60 ad on with big tip. Its always the low tip many miles not worth my time.

    What do you guys do when you get a ALL CAPS message for customers? I was offended but let it be after the first customer (after that the jerk even had the audacity to request me to "go up to his apartment door and deliver" knowing I am not allowed in the building due to Covid) but I had another customer do so when I explained to her the item wasn't in stock. Even shared a picture of the selection, and she was so sure what she wanted was "THE PINK BOTTLE, NOT WHIPPED" (cottage cheese) but that one she was referring to had pineapple. I didn't see that message until I was dropping off the groceries and opened the chat to let her know I was at the door and no one was answering (it was a hand to delivery) knowing full well people in the house saw me. I just left them at the door, snapped a few pics, let her know and wished her well as well as that the item she is seeing is not the right but it was REFUNDED. Next time I feel the need to explain to these people there is no need for texts in that manner saying as how I do not text them that way. Should I just let it go?

She was definitely sending you a message as she likely had a bad previous experience with a shopper not following instructions. While this is the worst feeling, you really do need to let this go.     I understand that you wait for the batch the makes the MOST sense/benefit, however, it’s important to remember that time spent waiting is LOST. I do wait but I don’t waste too much time scrolling and refreshing for a batch. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    As always thank you for your videos! I’m still very new. On my last few shops I keep having these words pop up on my screen as soon as I swipe to complete delivery 🤷🏻‍♀️ not sure why it comes up. And I’m getting paid and it shows as a completed batch within 30 mins.
    But it says... “we’re sorry You have not finished delivering all of your orders” but I have. When this first happened I thought it was due to internet connectivity but it’s happened on my last few batches. Any idea why I’m getting this message? Wish I could show you my screenshot.

      Oh yes! I have also had this happen to me before. But only once. When this happened, I exited out of the app and went back in and then it was OK. Definitely your heart skips a beat when this happens. I’m assuming you have already updated your phone. Also before I go out in the morning I will turn on my airplane mode and leave that on for about 10 minutes and then turn it back off. I’ve had several chat support people tell me that this helps to reset the phone. Don’t put it itvairplane mode while you are in the middle of the batch, though. Just before you start looking for batches. It’s just a glitch. But I know it’s frustrating. Hopefully it goes away soon. Try the airplane mode. 💛

    Do whatever it takes to make your customers uncomfortable claiming non delivery you only get 1 shot then your deactivated after that with very little chance at reactivation.

    I've been doing is the cart for about 14 months I get Dean from time to time like everybody else is far as the ratings but I'm a very positive person I'm a very good shopper I make mistakes sometimes but not as much as I used to when I first started but that being said this past couple of weeks I went from a 4.98 to 4.91 I reported fraud on everyone of the customers who claim they didn't get items and things that were missing with pictures receipts everything this set in the app where you report report or fraud for 2 weeks I get an email this morning saying you respect deactivated because yet another customer yesterday said I didn't get my salad dressing well it was out of stock I told her that and she wasn't charged because it was out of stock yet trust and safety sent me an email saying that if this continues you will be deactivated I don't even want to do extra cart right now but I need to do this along with the other gig work that I do to stay afloat and pay my bills this is so discouraging I am a five-star shopper all my reviews are glowing I'm good at what I do when I do instacart I'm very organized and the customer is number one all day with me but I'm getting treated like I stole and like I don't know my job this rating system and these fraudulent customers it has to come to an end!
    The most disturbing thing to me about the whole process is when you report fraud you upload pictures and nothing happens my ratings are tanked and then I get emails threatening to be deactivated I don't even think people even look at the report a fraud for instacart at this point !

    I would like you to do a video about wrongfully deactivations, I delivered a order to a customer I had time stamp picture proof with GPS I delivered and they still deactivated me and my state is a at will state I feel that's bogus you can have all the proof you want of pictures and it does absolutely nothing.
