English is not my first language either, and I understood you fine... One thing, though, the English speakers tend to use the word funnel instead of hopper for kitchen/home/garage implements. Hopper is usually reserved for machinery.
With COVID-19 going on, this is the best yeast water video I have seen! Clear directions and rationale. I did not even know this is your first English video--I understood everything perfectly! I am going to try it and update. God bless you!
You can use yeast water to make any bread that is yeast leavened. Note: yeast water isn’t going to rise as quickly as your other yeast options so longer proofing/fermentation will be required. Also, when using yeast water in a recipe make sure that your liquid to flour ratio doesn’t change. For example you have a recipe that calls for 4 cups of flour and 2 cups of water but you have one cup of yeast water that you want to use. You would do one cup water one cup yeast water and 4 cups of flour maintaining the doughs 50% hydration. Hope this helps :)
@@CRASHHEADHUNTERz Im new to this but it seemed like the idea is to use the yeast water to make a fast starter thats ready in one day instead of 7 and proceed as usual
@@SunshineCountryChickens It won't be ready in a day. Will take at least a week depending on temperature. Liquid is used and then refeed. Goes faster the second time. Grandmother made her bread using yeast water. She used raisins and sometimes added a grated potato. That one makes a very good bread. Potato yeast.
@@mysikind8076 Making a brand new starter from plain water and flour takes less than a week in my hot Texas kitchen with many ferments going at once. Wouldnt yeast water accelerate the process otherwise whats the point?
@@SunshineCountryChickens It probably would go faster if it's very warm. A/C would keep a room cool but if it's something like where I live the kitchen easily gets to 32C or 34C average is between 22C and 25C .The only way to know is to try it out. It differs for my sourdough in Summer and Winter. We don't use A/C or central heating so have ways I adapt. My Mother in law has a cooler kitchen and she makes a raisen yeast which also depending on the temp takes 3-7days to ferment. Her sister's one differs as she lives in a hotter area. So with different conditions it works slower or faster. It's trial and error at first. I haven't made raisin yeast since I was a teen when we lived in a very hot area. Someone accidentally sealed the bottle and it blew up after three days because I forgot to check it 😂 It was a big mess. Thankfully no one was in the kitchen at the time. My sister is in Texas and I know it does get really hot there. I doubt that just one day would give you enough of a boost though. I'm going to try it with dates. Good luck with yours. ☺ P.S. just make sure whatever you use hasn't been treated with sulphur.
I made a bread with your water yeast recipe and It was amazingly wildly risen when I baked it. It took 8 hrs to activate the levain, 2.5 bulk fermentation( lightly fold every 30 min.) and 12 hrs proofing in the fridge.
*EIGHT HOURS!* I'll stick with instant dry yeast haha! I do have something you would enjoy because I've been making pizza 🍕 weekly since Covid-19 lockdown. I now use beer in place of water to bake bread or pizza 🍕 and the dough is much softer and the crumb very light and airy. I'll never use water again when making bread dough of any kind. Yes, game changer. The beer already has yeast and other flavors so it's 1000x than using a packet of instant yeast. 🍕👍🏼
Just made some and finished up the whole process. I’ve made pizza dough and it worked perfectly. Just subbed all the liquids in the recipe with the yeast water. You rock!
My pizza recipe calls for 2 cups of water---so you would use 2 cups yeast water? Or did you do half and half? Not sure if there's such a thing as Too Much yeast water in the substitution?
EverydayHomemaking yeah I’ve just been subbing all water for yeast water. I made some ciabatta the other day that turned out awesome. Since the rising time is longer with this I really don’t think there is such thing as too much.
I really enjoyed your video especially the refreshment of your yeast water. I myself used raisins in a 4% sugar solution in 300 ml water and only covered the jar slightly to allow air exchange but keep out dust, i also didnt want to make alcohol lol. after 4 days i removed fruit, refreshed my solution adding 500ml water with 4% sugar, no salt or fruit , my yeast water came out smelling of nothing but yeast , no sour smell and no alcohol. if u leave your lid off just ever so slightly and use a 4% sugar solution you should be able eliminate the sour or alcohol odours. i reused the old fruit in a new 300 ml solution to see if i could grow more yeast cells from that so far smell good
Can't we just yeast yeast water as is to put in flour to make bread or we still have to make a sour dough starter first ......... Double the trouble ?? Lol🇨🇦😂🥖🍞🥐🍞
Thank you for making this video. I'll bet you had no idea it would become so valuable in the future! I enjoyed you accent very much and admire anybody who can speak more than one language.
Thank you so much for this. I have had a great deal of success with yeast water and making bread from it. It gives a very delicious taste to all my breads. Hope you can make some more videos soon in the future.
Thank you! Your English is excellent. Very informative. I would like to try it & also for the drink which is healthy. For years I have filled a fruit jar with water & put in a few drops of hot sauce & a dash of Apple cider vinegar. I sip it off & on . Very good!
I really enjoyed your video and couldn’t wait to start my first batch of yeast water. I used prunes. Today I baked my first loaf of bread with my new yeast water and it’s amazing. It rose more than my usual sourdough and the crumb is wonderful. Thanks so much Pablo.
Hi from across the world- India. Your name was taken by Mary Nest in her video. Very well ecplained. Excellent presentation. Could you please tell the ratio of this yeast water to be used to bake breads, buns, cibata, bagels, puzza or focassia. Can this be used in any recipe in place of instant yeast that I use. Would appreciate your comment. Thanks.
You can use this healthy yeast water for any kind of recipe. I am using it for 8 now and it is so delicious! You need 100 ml of yeast water for about 500 g of flour. If there are still any questions left, please let me know. Kind regards, Emma Magians
I started making this a couple years ago after watching your video and I never got around to using to make bread until now. You are right that it tastes delicious AND it was my first ever absolutely delicious loaf of bread. Thank you, thank you!
Hey Pablo, thanks for this video. I've watched cooking videos for several weeks, and never knew about it until I saw this kid from Indonesia using it. I still had some questions, and your video answered them. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to trying some of your recipes. Thanks pal.
Clear, concise instructions followed up with written information. What could be better. Hopper, that's a new one on me though. Fermented ginger and lemon, Ginger Beer!
Accents are great. We're closer than ever these days, United you might say. A clear instructive video. We're making our first loaf today with SDough starter. Thank you.
cant wait for you to post more english videos... you did a great job on this one and gave extra info in dispersion is awesome. this video closed a gap in my fermentation quest and opened yet another door. I look forward to more videos in june as i saw you respond in another comment thread
This was very useful content. I’m going to try it. And yes fermented drinks are both refreshing and healthy. They really give me a boost of energy because they help with digestion which naturally saps energy. So if I help my gut work better I conserve my energy for something else. And the lemon ginger ferment sound delicious. I’ve made beet ferment and it’s ok. Tastes like beets. Not my fav. Thanks for posting
Thanks for the video. I hope you post similar other videos, either use dried fruits or fresh fruits. Also how to make gluten free bread using the fruit yeast water.
great video, and recipe. If making sourdough starter can bread flour be used and if so, how long would you let it ferment? Oh and your English is really good !!!!! Thank You
If you don't like a strong sour, sourdough bread, Wild Yeast Water is your yeast of choice. Made 8 loafs so far using various recipes and while all the initial rises seemed slow and small, the oven spring has easily been the best I've ever achieved. I made a comparison between Chad Robertson's Tartine recipe using my Rye Sourdough Starter and one with no SD starter but just replacing the water in the Leavan with Wild Yeast water and the WYW loaf was as mild as I could have hoped for. Chad's original recipe was not that sour to begin with but this WYW is fantastic. Did not have dates so I made mine with Raisins. {Tried Apple with minimal success}. Thank you very much for this entry into the world of WYW which opens the door to thousands of possibilities.
Good and informative video, I like it q lot. Usually I don't put salt. And I used fresh fruits. Gonna to try your method.Chef Pablo, please make more Nice video about yeast and bread making (in English). Thanks ! Greetings from summer Singapore.
Great video! Don't worry about your accent. Could you use this yeast water to make non-sourdough bread? Could I use organic "white" flour as opposed to rye, spelt or buckwheat? Thanks.
Amazing video! Thank you! I would love to see you do another video where you explain more about maintaining the fruit yeast water, as I still have a lot of questions about what could kill it? what will too much or not enough sugar do? for instants if I make a mistake and add too much fruit at first because I was using grapes and what happens if we add too much water? You helped me so much and thank you so much for doing these videos!
You could end up with vinegar if you don't have enough sugar and feed it regularly. Literally homemade vinegar is made from fruit water little to no sugar and never feeding
I loved this video, thanks so much! And your English is really good. I often find German accents quite hard to listen to, but that was not the case listening to you :)
Fantastic. Just what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing. Your English is fine. It will be great if you can show a bread recipe with the yeast water (even one with English subtitles is okay). :)

Your english was fine. Your accent caused no problems for me. I'd love to see you make some bread or rolls with your yeast water.
Ferment it long enough, and it's a kilju (water wine). So yes, it'll make you feel pretty good after a few weeks fermentation.
Awesome Video! Don't worry about your accent, you sound great! Thank you so much for making this video accessible to English speakers!
