    This video is for folks that might be confused with the 02 harnesses discussions on the net for 87-93 ford mustang 5.0 EFI cars. This video is useful for folks with 4cyl conversions for EFI V8 swaps or folks that are changing computers or transmission swaps from AOD and T5s. Ford made 4 different pinouts for the 02 harnesses due to the differences in the NSS circuit that ran from the computer thru dash harness and to the pedals. This is one of the frequently confused discussions on the net for mustang wiring harnesses and conversions. I explain all 4 different pinouts on one harness. Thanks for looking. GL!

    My 87 is wo/ cruise control, so no VSS, did a mass air swap, using a 92 A9L. So I should add the jumper from 1-6? You did say the later years had two harnesses , that’s why I ask. Also would you recommend adding the VSS & matching speedometer cable? Thank you very much for the information and helpful videos!

      William Lopez I have been working on figuring that out. gave up on google and traced back the wires on my 91 harness and from the looks of it all it does is tell the computer the car is in the start or neutral position. my car was never fuel injected and the harness is basically just hotwired with toggle switches so I'm going to run without the loop just to be safe because it starts and runs fine without it already.

    label or a number thanks

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  9 років тому

      Robert Sanchez The computer usually has a nomenclature sticker where it plugs into the harness. There should be 3 letter/number combo in big bold dark text in the corner of the sticker. A9L is usually 5 speed. A9P is usually automatic. Its easily spoted just looking at the sticker on the front of the computer. As for the harness theres quite a bit of differences so its easily identifiable if you know what your looking at.

      You could run the stock transmission on light boost and probably be fine for awhile. No slick drag racing as that's what breaks them. I have friends still using stock T5's they freshened up rebuild wise that make over 400 to wheels still driving on their turbos no problems 2 years later. Of course they don't drag slick race it very often at all.

    neo, i am running a 88 gt previously a SD, AOD, it was converted to a mass air and a t5 transmission with an A9P but no 02 harness was changed. which harness should i use? i have burned 2 computers, and the car wont start, could the 02 harness be the cause of it?

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  9 років тому

      Vicious Mustang If you have burned up two computers I would suspect someone maybe didn't convert the harness correctly? The A9P is sorta universal computer meaning it'll work with both NSS (neutral sensing circuit which runs thru the 02 harness plug) for both AOD and T5. If it were an A9L I would say its a good possibility your burning the traces on the NSS circuit but being its and A9P id have to suspect something else.

      @Neomustangs  9 років тому

      Mike Moreau Yes. The A9P will work just fine in the T5 car. As well as the matching 02 harness. Keep in mind tho that A9P lacks the same idle logic that the A9L (5 speed original) computer does. So you will have times that the car may hunt for idle specially after driving and coming to a stop sign. Its not uncommon.
