    Hello Ken. Great video. I have been searching for two days on info about what you shared in this video. I have 1993 fox, 5.0 with Eddlebrock heads, and a great sounding cam, long tube headers, with low idle issues. But not to bad. but I've been wanting to check all those inputs and outputs . Now it will be a lot easier to check . Thanks a lot

    No, this MAF upgrade can not be done on the trucks because they have a bank injection which has a very different wiring harness. The truck 5.0L will have different firing order as well.

    Id like to see a video covering the 87-91 ford f series truck eec IV .
    I’d like to know the difference between the ecm’s since each year truck has a dozen ecm’s listed for automatic and manual transmissions for just the 5.8!
    Also would like to see some specific details about converting the pre mass air to mass air on those trucks. I appreciate the great videos!

      The truck PCM is a speed density system and bank injection. This makes it not compatible to the car system. You would have to change everything over to the car wiring harness and PCM but understand that the car version will not work with the E4OD that is in many trucks. I believe the last year for the 5.8L might have had MAF but I don't think there are any tuners for those models.

    I really appreciate the help man the harness I got came out of my buddys 88 mustang gt and it's got a relay on the harness that plugs in the computer then it's got one where the mass air flow is

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  7 років тому

      If the relay near the PCM is brown, that should be the EEC relay. The relay near the mass air connector is likely the AC clutch relay.

    I have a 92 coupe that was a four cylinder, 5 speed car before I bought it. I purchased it with a 5 liter and AOD.
    It did not have O2 sensors so found it to have speed density eec. Fuel pump does not function with ignition prime as it runs continuous. It does seem to have a maff harness that is non functional obviously.
    Suffice to say that it was a hacked up V8 conversion regarding the wiring.
    I assume before I purchased it that something attempted the maff conversion and somehow ended up SD.
    So I must do a proper maff conversion to say the least.
    My question to you is do you have some literature I can print with your diagram so I can trace pertinent wires to repin EEC connector?
    Funny thing is I have a new A9L that I never used from my ssp coupe that I owned many years ago that I can't use with my Current mustang that's automatic.

    Hey Ken great video .... Did the conversion on my 1989 Lincoln Mark 7 I think I need to add the fifth wire for the fuel pump relay . Heres my issue the Mark 7 has two fuel pump relays one in the trunk and one in engine compartment on the passenger side fire wall which one do I use and which wire on the relay harness is the hot wire

    • @badshoeproductions

      Should be only one fuel pump relay. The one under the hood might be the AC clutch relay.

    Any good kits like maybe painless brand even? I got a 92 f150 with a straight 6 and the truck has alot of personal importance to me so its worth it, to me anyways, to do the work. I want a 5.0 maf system. Even if i have to swap out the E4od

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  4 місяці тому

      There really isn't any kits for the 4.9L trucks with speed density. You could completely do a rewire to a 95-96 EEC5 system for the 4.9L which has MAF. I think for a stock engine, it would be a waste of time. For a performance build, going to a Holley or Mega Squirt make more since.

    I have a 1992 flareside 5.0 I added a e303 cam. non E40D will it work. On the door sticker it has letter T on transmission type. I think its non E40D. I was thinking the fiveology maf convertion kit. Or the Holley Terminator X kit. What do you think i should do.from your experience.

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  Рік тому

      The conversion in the video will not work in your truck because it has bank injection and not SEFI. It could be done if you completely rewired it, not very practical. As for your tranny, take a look. If you have a cancel button, you have an E4OD. If not but it has overdrive, it's an AOD. If it's not overdrive, it's a C6. I'm not familiar with fiveology so you would have to verify it works with your truck. Holley, Mega Squirt and others are options but again, it would be a different wire harness.

    Ken, Great Video very informative. I'm changing an 88GT to mass air, it's a T5 and I purchased a good A9P. I herd that if you do not change the O2 wire harness from manual to auto it can burn up the ECU. Is this true? Reading the comments below I noticed you said as long as the left sensor and right sensor goes to the correct pins it should not Be a problem. Did I understand you correctly? Thanks Bob

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  8 років тому +1

      You should be fine using a A9P PCM. It is made for an AOD which will see 12v on pin 30 on startup. The T5 cars only have either a ground or open on pin 30. Therefore an AOD PCM like the A9P will work on a T5 or AOD harness. PCMs for T5's like the A9L might burn the ground strip for signal return if used with an AOD harness because it's pin 30 is not protected against the 12v on startup. The A9L could be used with an AOD as long as the wire going to pin 30 is removed from the starter sol. start circuit.

    hi! one important question. does is it correct, that 46 pin is ground not only for sensors? is it correct, that pin 46 grounded on body?

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  2 роки тому

      The pin 46 is what they call signal return which is the common internal ground for all the sensors. Pin 46 is not grounded to the body/engine. Internally, pin 46 is grounded to the two main power grounds and pin 20 which is the TFI shield ground. I believe pin 46 is not externally grounded so the PCM can see a possible internal open ground and flag a code.

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  7 років тому

      You will likely need to add an EEC and fuel pump relay as I did in my 5.0L swap vol.2 video. The 4cyl. harness may have a CCRM (relay box) in the engine compartment which doesn't work with the V8 harness.

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  9 років тому

      The EVP and EVR wires (pins 27 and 33) are the same for SD and mass air and is not needed for the engine to run correctly. If wires are left open, there will be codes placed in the PCM which can cause a check engine light but the car will run fine. In some cases, a light throttle ping may occur because the EGR does cool the combustion during light cruise. Simply setting the timing back or going up on the octane will correct that. My 5.0L Swap vol.2 video shows details for putting EEC4 PCM and wiring into my 88 TBird however, the info will apply to any 5.0L EFI swap like an old Mustang or street rod.

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  7 років тому

      If you don't use O2's the computer will stay in open loop causing poor fuel mileage and drive/performance concerns. Weld in a couple bung and add the O2's. I've never seen a Fox H pipe that didn't have O2 bungs. You can use any tranny with the Mark7 PCM.

  • @DBullFPV
    @DBullFPV 9 років тому

    How did you incorporate the 02 harness while changing to mass air. Did you leave the o2 harness alone or did you have to change the jumper? I've read somewhere that if it's a 87 02 harness you don't have to worry about it when converting to mass air. Is this true?

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  9 років тому

      The harness I used did not have a concern. As long as the right O2 signal goes to pin 29, left O2 to pin 43 and the O2 gnd. goes to pin 49, you're fine. As with any mod. it's up the guy doing the project to verify the connections.

Putting and interfacing an EEC harness like in the video into an early Mustang or street rod is detailed in my 5.0L Engine Swap vol.2 and I would think there's books and online sites that outlines that info as well.

    • @badshoeproductions
      @badshoeproductions  9 років тому

      My project using an A9P PCM doesn't have software to control E4OD so of course it wouldn't work in your truck. If however, you have a complete truck mass air harness and parts, I would say it's doable. I would think the 97 harness and parts is for an EEC5 system. This is very different from EEC4 and my video and there's likely to be hidden problems. Frankly, if you're keeping the engine stock, I see no reason to change it to mass air. If you are going to modify the engine, a standalone or piggy back system might be a better option.
