Nice garden tour and congrats on your new location. I'm also in zone 5b but in New Brunswick. I lived in ON for almost 15 years. New sub and looking forward to seeing your garden develop 🙂
Very nice gardens plans and those gardens will do amazing for you. Your new home looks just beautiful wow. i see you getting around better glad to see you moving around. Good luck this years and happy growing. see you on the next one Sherry
Sherry I noticed your absence but didn’t realize you had an injury, so glad to hear you’re on the mend! Your place is looking lovely! We are building right now and will be starting from scratch this summer and I find your channel very inspiring. Wondering if you have a video about the construction of your metal/wood raised beds and if you have an idea of cost of materials if purchased? Looking forward to the next video!
Hello! Thank you 🙂 I did a video on the first 4 beds that I built like my new ones. They are built out of recycled barn wood and roof tin. I calculated the wood for each bed to be roughly $100. The wood is true 2x4, not like the 2x4 wood sold at big box stores. The used tin is 15-20 dollars and you need 3 for each bed. This property had a small house on it and we removed all the roof tin to be used on my new beds. We have a guy near us who takes old barns down. Build a plant room with extra outlets and a water source!
Hello! I planted 3 at my old property. The year following planting, they grew and got leaves. My puppies killed one, but 2 were doing good. No fruit. Pawpaw's are very slow growing.
Just found you :) Great location and garden! I'm in 5B in Peninsula of WI. It will be interesting to see what I can grow here. We are both just moved :)
Completely from scratch. I bought 6 raised beds, but after my husband plowed my garden area, we found the soil was really nice. So this year I ordered 16 yards of compost and I'm gonna do some in ground and beds, also a few table height beds. We are working on fence poles now. Deer love running through our 10 acres! And coyotes. I'm excited about it all. I'm waiting for my husband to plow the area to get all my fruit trees in.
So exciting!!!! That’s amazing that the soil was good. I’ve been working so hard physically to get the garden ready for the new area, but it’s so worth it. I love hearing that your husband is helping too. I saw this meme the other day that made me laugh “The problem with marrying a low maintenance woman, is they have high maintenance hobbies” 🤣😅. Happy Gardening
Wow, you've been busy in the garden!! Things are looking great!! Do you harvest the stevia to use as sweetner?? I want to get the gold raspberries too. I've heard they're amazing!! Nice to see your girls. How many do you have?
❤️ I broke a bone in my foot in 2 places, so my family has been really stepping it up and helping me. Yes, the plan is to dry the stevia and use it in my tea blends as a natural sweetener. I don't want to rush away 2 years, but I am looking forward to seeing what everything will look like in 2 years! We currently have 20 girls. We had 17, but then rescued 3 girls last summer from a crappy situation ☹️ we have 10 new girls arriving throughout the summer. We sell the eggs and can't keep up with the demand for them!
@GardeningintheNorth I'm glad you had extra hands & muscle power, to help you out!! Chicken math at its finest 🤣 It's addicting, you just want all the breeds of chickens & egg colors right?!
@@cindylarade this is the problem….. I NEED all the colours, lol. I’ve already shown Derek where he can add the new coop 🤣 He thinks I’m nutz, I arrange the eggs in the cartons in colourful patterns. When he packs the cartons, I always go back and rearrange them. 😂

I love that the roots will keep the soil on the hill. Double duty.
Hopefully a jungle of strawberries 🍓 😋

It’s hard to leave an established garden, but exciting to start a new one!
I agree! Starting a new gardening space means we can build it to suit us. Happy Gardening my friend
